Fit Review Friday! Athleta Haul- Elation Flare Pant, Elation Rib Crop Flare, Keys Relaxed Crop Tee, Elation V-Neck Crop Plus Friends & Family!

UPDATE- Friends and Family Code - FRIENDS20

Happy Friday! I have a pretty big Athleta haul for you guys today. This also marks the start of Athleta's Friends & Family sale. It seems like the emails are going out erratically this year. If you did get one, let me know in the comments. Unfortunately, this is not available to Canada. 😓 Seems like Canada always gets left out of these sales! I am definitely noticing this more and more and it's something that I've been thinking about a lot. I hope to have something in the works soon to try and tip the scales the other way for my Canadian friends.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size XS/PXS in Athleta. I also wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.

Back in the late 90s flare pants were all the rage. Of course they were also center stage in the 70s but I wasn't around for that. 😂 Now that it's the 20's, they're back once again. Maybe not as popular as the two eras but they're certainly are making a comeback. I've always wanted a pair of Lululemon Groove Flare Pants but the 32.5 inch length always put an end to that want. Athleta released their own version and even though they do have a petite option, the length still measures 29.5 inches but I still decided to give it a try. It's unfortunate they do not have a true petite length for these pants. Of course you can always hem them. I would probably need to take off at least three inches and they would look amazing I'm sure, but I do not have an Athleta close enough for it to be convenient for me to drop them off and pick them up.

I'm wearing size Petite XS. These are definitely high rise, the waist covers my belly button and then some. The fabric is Powervita which is very similar to Lululemon's Nulu. It's ever so slightly more compressive but still very soft and comfortable.

The Petite XS fits true to size, and the fit is like second skin from the waist through the hips. I took some close ups of the front and back to show the seam details. The Spiced Cabernet is a deep wine/burgundy shade that is perfect for fall. I know spring is here so if you're in the market for a pair of these flare pants (and have a longer inseam than me) Tawny Rose and Minimalistic Gray are very pretty colors.

There is a drop in pocket at the back of the waist.

I was also curious about the Elation Rib Crop Flare. The reviews mostly said these ran small, so I sized up. I also went with the regular length over the petite length. The regular inseam is 26 inches. The petite length is 24 inches. I was hoping these would run full length on me. However, they're just a tad too short once I put them on. I'm wearing size small and they did fit well. If I got my usual size XS, they would have been too tight. Definitely consider sizing up in these.

I know, these totally do not go with Rothy's Driving Shoes! 😅 I am still trying to see what looks best with driving shoes. I'm thinking it's going to be jeans. In the photo below you can see the rib detail on these pants. You can feel a subtle texture in the fabric as well even though they're made of Powervita.

Overall, these flares have a weird cut and I wasn't a huge fan of the length either. They're almost like a hybrid bootcut/flare. This was a return for me.

Some of you may remember I purchased the POCC in White Opal. I was debating whether to keep it or not. After taking the photos of Keys Relaxed Crop Tee in Magnolia White, I decided to return the POCC. With warmer weather on the way, I will get more use out of the Keys Relaxed Crop Tee. Plus the fabric is very similar to Softstreme although it's slightly thinner. The color is also pretty close.

Longer sleeve length ends at my elbow.

I went with size XS in this top for a slightly bigger neck hole. It's an oversized fit for sure, but I think it still works on my petite frame. The length isn't super cropped, it ends at the top of my hips and it's slightly longer in the back. I think I'll get a decent amount of use from this top with the warmer weather coming. It's lightweight and drapes well.

The Elation V-Neck Crop is starting to become one of my favorites for low impact workouts. It's so comfortable that I have it in three colors. The fabric is similar to the Nulu in terms of softness. It's very similar to the Align Tank. I'm wearing size small. For Align Tanks I fit into a size 6, but the Elation V-Neck Crop has more stretch.

That's it for me! If you did some shopping, let me know what you got!

Getaway Tee | Full review coming!

I just got this tee, size XS in Bright White and love it. It's slightly oversized so size down if you would like a fitted look. I really love how soft the fabric is and it drapes so well. Sleeves are very flattering even though they're short.

  1. Hi Leslie! I LOVE the Elation Flare Pant and the Relaxed Crop Tee on you. I ordered the Crop Tee during a restock and it is supposed to come tomorrow. Let's hope that it looks as good on me as on you :). I also returned the POCC in White Opal.

I have the Athleta CC and I am an Icon member, BUT I did not receive any notification/coupon code about their F&F sale. It is a bit annoying - definitely a first world problem haha.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi AmherstLulu! Ohhh let me know what you think of the Relaxed Crop Tee.

I don't know what's going on with the F&F this year. It definitely IS annoying that only some people have gotten the email and some haven't. But yeah - FWP! lol

      Happy Friday!!

  2. The Elation Flare Pant looks amazing on you! It’s flattering and your legs look longer! The color is gorgeous but I wish it was more purple than burgundy.

So sad about Canada being missed out on the upcoming F&F sale. :( I know the Canadian market is small but it will keep growing especially when LLL items are getting more and more expensive! You might want to give the Avenue Wide Leg Crop a try but it might be a tad long on you. It’s amazingly comfortable, light and breezy! The stitching details on the side are really nice and the crop can be dressed up or down.

I can’t wait to read your upcoming fit review on the Getaway Tee! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

    1. Hi Andrea! I am super jealous for those who have a longer inseam and can wear the Elation Flare Pants, they are very flattering.

I actually have a pair that looks very similar to the Avenue Wide Leg Crop that I bought a couple of years ago. But these do look a little more flattering. I may check them out. Thanks!!

  3. I'm with AmherstLulu and and Andrea, you are rocking those Cabernet Flare Pants! Too bad about the length though.

I'm glad you like the Relaxed Crop Tee. When they were doing the 20% off, I went back and got the black one as well, although I think the Magnolia color is prettier.

Athleta has really gotten my attention this year. The fact that they have petite sizing (and being able to return stuff on mark down!) has made me prefer to order things from them than Lulu now. Too bad the Friends and Family Sale isn't going in Canada...but maybe that's a good thing for my wallet!

    1. Thanks Lola! I debated about getting the black, but when I went to look XS was already sold out. But happy to know Magnolia is prettier. =)

Yes!! And the fact that you can return it after you give it a try as long as it's within the 60 day window. I almost never take advantage of that policy but have a couple of times. They are definitely getting more of my money this year over Lulu and this may be a first.

I do feel pretty bad about Canadians getting the short end of the stick with these sales. But I have something brewing for that!

  4. hi Leslie, I really like the Keys Relaxed Crop Tee in Magnolia White on you! The length is perfect and I love the relaxed fit!

I agree that your Rothy's Driving Shoes would look great with jeans! They may also look good with wide leg cropped pants?

Thanks, Andrea, for suggesting the Avenue Wide Leg Crops. I like the back pockets. They make the pants look a little more polished, possibly dressy enough for work.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi Karen! I will try The Rothy's with wide leg pants and see if that looks better. I'm actually going to try the Avenue Wide Leg Crops that Andrea suggested. They look a little more flattering than the ones I bought a couple of years ago.

      Enjoy your weekend!!

    2. Hi Leslie, I ordered the Avenue Wide Leg Crops too! I would love to hear how you compare them to the Seasoft straight leg pants that you have. Those look more casual, but if the fabric is similar to Lululemon's Softstreme fabric, they must feel heavenly!

    3. Oh I LOVE the Seasoft Straight Leg pant. It really does feel like Softstreme and it's one of my favorites to wear. I would highly recommend a pair, I have them in two colors. Black and the Abalone? Super comfy.

  5. OMG Athleta has flare pants?? I have to try them! I want the LLL ones but they're always out of stock and nulu is fragile. Also the FF sale! Thanks so much!

    1. I got XSP in navy to try! I wear a LLL 2 but the reviews say it ran tight and I'd like a more relaxed fit. Hope it fits well. :)

    2. Ohhhh let me know how you like them Janessa! Jealous for all the people with longer inseams than meeeeee.

    3. Janessa, I have the Lulu groove nulu in sz 2 and elation pants in xsp. I have to say Lulu's feels more compressive and hence more slimming. Elation feels looser and more flowy - I prefer Lulu but the next girl might like elation more!

  6. Hey Leslie! Thought I'd try the FRIENDS20 cc on the Canadian site and it worked! Got 20% off a regular priced item AND a sale item. WIN!

    1. Thanks for trying the code! Woo hoo! I'll have to spread the word.

  7. I think the elation pants look great on you Leslie! They might be a smudge long with your shoes but I think half an inch of hemming would make them perfect!

    1. Thanks Blueberries! Yeah they would definitely have to be hemmed for me to wear them. I'm just so lazy about doing it since Athleta isn't that close to me.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Review! Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Size Small Plus Video

You all know I love my bags, and as a Balenciaga collector, I don't often stray from the City and First style. The Rodeo (pronounced like Rodeo Drive) really caught my eye. It gives off a slouchy Hermes Kelly vibe, but way more practical to use.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall. Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Small The Rodeo can be carried a few ways. It comes with a crossbody strap that is not adjustable but it is removable. Not sure why anyone wouldn't add a few extra holes to make a strap adjustable these days. Come on Balenciaga! Do better! The top handle is a bit too long for this to work anyhow, I feel like the top handle gets in the way. It sticks out and doesn't sit well in my opinion. I wouldn't carry this bag crossbody unless it was an unforeseen emergency and I really needed my hands free. This bag looks more chic carried by the handle or crook of the arm. It also looks nice left open with the help of the flap tucked in. The Rodeo resembles the Kelly bag ...

Review! Lululemon's Large Everywhere Belt Bag Size Comparison Plus Video!

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's almost Halloween! I actually have a dentist appointment on Halloween. One of my molars chipped and needs to be filled in. It's a tiny chip that I didn't even notice until my dentist pointed it out to me during my last visit. I'm not looking forward to it at all since I will need local anesthesia. Anyway, today I have a belt bag size comparison review for you all! For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.
