Happy Friday! Some interesting news today. Athleta's President and CEO Maggie Gauger will join Lululemon as Chief Product Officer, a newly created role. I feel both brands are floundering. They really need to hire new designers. It's very telling when I haven't bought/kept a single Lululemon item this year. I've spent more at Athleta for sure. Looking at my spreadsheet I have spent a total of $650 at Athleta so far. That's not a lot considering it's October! If it wasn't for Banana Republic, my spending on clothing would have been a record low.
Today we have an Athleta fit review. 😆 For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size PXS/XS in Athleta. I also wear size 4/6 and XS/S in Lululemon.
This sweatshirt stood out to me because of the unique neckline. The fabric is super soft double-knit spacer material. It's very cozy. I'm wearing size XXS and it's still quite roomy on my petite frame.
The sleeves are oversized and isn't the most flattering, but I think I can still pull it off as a very casual look. I really like the shawl collar, it really elevates this sweatshirt.
The length hits at the lower hip and covers almost everything. I do like how it looks with the front tucked in. This is the kind of top I would wear during travel, or you could dress it up for the office with a pair of black pants.
Next up we have the Rainout Roam Jacket. I had high hopes for this one!
Rainout Roam Jacket Nocturnal Size XXS
I'm wearing size XXS and still quite oversized. Thankfully this jacket does come in petite sizes. Perhaps petite XS would have worked better for me, especially in the sleeve length. I have it folded up once, which allows the orange to peek out, which I actually like a lot.
The fabric is VERY stiff. It also makes a lot of noise, it sounds like cardboard rubbing against each other. It's not pleasant at all. Maybe it would soften up with use, but I wasn't impressed.
I like the length of the coat and appreciate the buttons on the side. The orange accents are quite fun. I think it definitely adds some fun and character to the jacket.
There is a small back vent as well. The inside is lined and overall, I liked the style of the jacket but wish the fabric was softer. That's it for me! I hope you all have a lovely weekend. 😍
Shop:
(Such a good deal, but only size 0 and 2 left)
(I still kinda like these! 😅)
(I still have this on my wish list... sigh)
Two items I may have missed from Tuesday's drop

Love love love that sweat shirt! And the raincoat too, despite the stiffness that you reported. Thanks for the IRL try ons!
ReplyDeleteHi AC! I need the XXS to come back in stock and on sale after my ban lifts. 🤣
DeleteA little embarrassed to admit that I haven't been to any physical clothing stores in a long time, except to make a return but I usually return and leave. Thanks for sharing about the former Athleta CEO moving to Lululemon, looked up a couple articles and found them interesting. Yesterday I was decluttering and felt overwhelmed by the amount of stuff I have. How do you keep organized or what do you do with stuff you don't wear or use?
ReplyDeleteHi Jean L! I try and declutter all the time. If there are things I no longer wear or use, if it is something I know that would sell for an amount over $20- I'll sell it. If not then I'll see if there's anyone I know who might use it. If not, then I'll donate it. There's a no kill animal shelter near me who takes donations to sell in their store and proceeds go back towards saving animals, so I don't mind donating to them.
DeleteI do the same. There's a really sweet little thift shop near me that helps moms and children escape abusive situations, and I usually save all my good pieces for them. Stuff that's in excellent condition or sometimes, even new. Things I think they can easily sell. I recognize that I'm kind of wasteful with purchases some times, and finding an organization I like helps me escape sunk cost fallacy. Otherwise, I'd be over run with "maybe I'll wear it some day" pieces.
DeleteLove that you do that too! Agree with you, I've been trying to be more mindful of what I bring into the house these days. It's sort of working? It's a learning process. At least I don't keep things for maybe someday. I'm pretty good about that.
DeleteI haven't bought much either from Lulu this year, compared to previous years anyway. I've still bought a good number of things, but it's tapered off. I mostly find myself really liking one color, waiting for it to hit WMTM and then buying a bunch of pieces in that color. Like, I loved flamingo fun tone and it was all marked down this week, so I ended up getting 5 items. Full price is rare for me lately. There aren't many pieces that I have to have, and I find myself adding them to my saved items to check for price drops each Thursday. It's not an impressive change or anything, but it's definitely slowed my fomo and consumption rate.
ReplyDeleteHi Stacy! I almost never got FOMO anymore when it comes to Lulu or any clothing brands these days. I used to get FOMO all the time with Lulu back in the day. And if something I like ends up selling out, most of the time it will restock anyway, and if it doesn't it's okay!
