Fit Review Friday! Uniqlo Ultra Light Down Vest

Happy Friday! I'm heading to New York to visit my family for Thanksgiving. My husband will be staying behind with my fur babies. I'm going to miss them so much. I'm happy to be seeing my grandma again and I can't wait for all the food I'll be eating! Although I'm not super happy that it's going to be freezing there, but at least I'll have my Keys Velvet Luxe Puffer coat to keep my warm and toasty. Lately, I've been looking for a down vest to layer over my Scuba Oversized Full Zip Hoodie. I've tried the Wunder Puff Cropped Vest a couple of times and didn't love how puffy it looked on my petite frame and also didn't love the price tag. 😑 After some online searching I finally found one that looked similar to the Wunder Puff Cropped Vest but without the bulk.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops. For Uniqlo, I am wearing kid's size 11/12 and women's size XS.

How amazing does this vest look with the Scuba Oversized Full Zip Hoodie? I'm wearing kid's size 11/12 and it's literally perfect. It's at an amazing low price of $49.90. It's only available in three colors, which is unfortunate. I'm hoping to see more colors added, but I am not sure that'll happen. I don't shop at Uniqlo that often and I have a feeling these three colors are it for this winter season. Of course I went with Natural since I'm still on the neutrals wardrobe kick.

The hem has an elastic band which is pretty stretchy and the length hits at the fullest part of my hip. The arm holes are also elastic which makes it very easy to fit over the Scuba Oversized Full Zip Hoodie. The vest does not have a hood, which is fine because I'll be layering it over a hoodie anyway.

The filling is Down, but does not say how much Down. It does seem to be pretty warm. It's super comfortable and easy to wear and a keeper for sure. I would be crazy not to keep this vest for the price. Quality seems fine, I didn't find any flaws.

I also decided to try the women's Ultra Light Down Vest in size XS. I went with the Khaki color which is a great neutral as well. Unlike the kid's version, the women's vest is 750+ Fill Power Down. Both vests are packable. The women's fabric is more matte and has a water repellant coating. Price is $59.90 which is $10 more than the kid's version.

The fit is boxy and slightly shorter in length. The length is similar to the Wunder Puff Cropped Vest. The silhouette is sleeker, but I had a hard time finding a hoodie to wear underneath it. The arm holes are not elastic. The arm holes are also on the smaller side, which means I had a hard time getting the Oversized Scuba Hoodie sleeves through. I tried wearing it with one of my Aviator Nation hoodies, but the length of the hoodie is longer than the vest. It doesn't look great, but at least the sleeves fit.

The vest is also missing the elastic around the hem. The clear winner for me is the kid's vest. Too bad it's only available in Pink, Natural, and Navy.

There's also a shiny version of the vest. There's only one review and it says it runs large. Of course I like the Off White and Gray. It's also currently on sale for $59.90. That's it for me! Let me know what you think of this review in the comments below. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. The vest is a keeper! I also prefer the kid's version with the elastic band. The overall fit is better and it pairs well with your Scuba Oversized Full Zip Hoodie. UNIQLO has nice stuff with great prices but too bad they have limited brick and mortar stores in Toronto. I believe free returns can only be done through stores which to me is very inconvenient.

    Have a wonderful weekend, Leslie!

    1. Hi Andrea! You're correct, unfortunately if you use a return shipping label they will charge $7 per order. Not sure the price in Canada though. There's one in Atlanta, but I hardly ever do shopping in person these days.

    2. hi Andrea and Leslie, I think Uniqlo charges a $9.90 return fee for online returns in Canada and we cannot return online purchases in store. That's why I tend to order only if I know that item will fit me. I like their bra tops. The price is reasonable and they're very soft and comfortable!

Leslie, I really like the kid-size vest on you! It looks very nice paired with the Scuba half zip! I enjoy the food pics that you posted on Instagram! Have a great time!

    3. Hi Karen! I guess if I placed a big order, I wouldn't mind the return shipping fee, but I also wouldn't shop from them a lot because of it.

I'll be sure to post all the food pics! =D

  2. The vest fits perfect on you! I've been looking at vests to layer over my scubas too but I haven't decide on one... I love the Aritzia corduroy puffer vest but I would'nt get my money's worth since it's not THAT cold here... but hmmm lol

    1. Thanks Janessa! I did look at the Aritzia vests, but Aritzia also adds bulk similar to the Wunder Puff. I've tried the Super Puff Cropped vest last year. Wasn't too crazy about it. I ended up going with the Little Puff. I am sad that the Little Puff doesn't have many colors I like in my size, because I would get another.

  3. What?! There's a Uniqlo in Atlanta? Where? I've been shopping them online, and just received my off-white vest in XS just like yours (the women's version). I thought it was a little wide until I found the elastic pull in the hem. Look inside the jacket. It changes the look and I think it's really cute. (I'm about your size/height, too). I think the kids version looks really cute on you though.

    1. Hi Diane, nevermind, I thought when I did a search it said Lenox had a Uniqlo, but I just went to double check and it's not true! Bah. That's disappointing. I missed the elastic pull on the women's vest. When I get back from NY, I'll have to look for it! I'm still iffy on the sleeve opening though, I do think it runs a little small to layer over a hoodie.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
