Fit Review Friday! Aritzia Boyfriend Boxy Zip Hoodie Cozy Fleece Tna

Happy Friday! We made it through the first week of the new year. My husband caught something. Might be just a cold, or it could be covid, but won't know until the home test arrives tomorrow. He's been sick for the past few days. So far I still feel fine. Fingers crossed! For today's review we have some hoodies from Aritzia!

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall in this post I am wearing size 2XS and XS in Aritzia. I also wear size 4 in Lululemon tops.

also wearing Vuori Lux Ribbed Performance Jogger Heather Gray Size XS (review coming soon!)

I'm wearing size 2XS and in terms of length and fit, it actually reminds me of Lululemon's Catch a Breath Hoodie (link to my review). I personally feel the 2XS is just a little too cropped for my taste. The test is when I lift my arms up, the hoodie rides up on me. This doesn't happen if I size up to XS though.

The color Gd Deep Ocean Blue reminds me Lululemon's True Navy/Iron Blue, it's a gorgeous saturated dark blue with a hint of teal. The Gd stands for Garment Dye. I pulled this straight off of Aritzia's website:

"The unique colour of our garment dye is achieved through a special process — instead of dyeing the fabric, we dye the finished garment for a dimensional, washed-down look and soft feel. Results vary from one piece to the next, so yours is truly one-of-a-kind."

I loved the color so much, I went and purchased this again in size XS. Looking at both, they're almost identical, so I do think the results don't vary that much (pictures of size XS are shown later in this post).

I personally prefer pockets that sit just a little lower on the body. My elbows are positioned in almost a 90 degree angle which is perfect for elbowing people but not so great if I want to feel relaxed. The hoodie I'm wearing below is size XS and my arms are more comfortable. Visually it's a subtle difference but it feels so much better to me.

In the next size up, the arms are longer and slightly baggier but it's still nothing compared to Lululemon's Scuba Oversized Zip Up. If you'd like a reminder of what that looks like, here you go!

Which reminds me, Aritzia's version does not have any thumbholes, but it's also half the price. Speaking of the price, Aritzia charges $70 for this hoodie ($65 on sale or $48 on super sale). The quality isn't as good as Lululemon's but if I'm factoring the price difference, I think Aritzia is a good deal for what you get. Also you can choose from over 30 colors. I went with just these two but I am tempted to pick up another color. I really like the Gd Cognac or Gd Stone Taupe.

Arms are baggy but I think it looks fine.

Length is slightly longer.

If I'm being extremely picky about Aritzia's quality, the only thing that I would mention is the zipper. It feels a little bit on the cheap side and can be tricky getting it to zip up because of how much fabric is on both sides. Here's a photo.

The zipper head can be hard to zip without catching onto surrounding fabric.

Here are a couple of photos wearing size XS in Gd Deep Ocean Blue. The extra length for me makes all the difference and I don't think the sleeves look bad at all. It's on trend and still more petite friendly than Lulu's Scuba Oversized Full Zip! I am kind of tempted to try the Extra Fleece version in Cognac

Bottom line- if you like the look of Lululemon's Scuba Oversized Full Zip but not a fan of the price or if you're like me and the arms are much too gorilla like, the Aritzia version is a great alternative. Or you can size down and it will look similar to the Catch A Breathe Hoodie. 😆 Take your pick!

That's it for me! Hope you guys enjoyed this review and enjoy your weekend!

  1. Sending positive thoughts that your husband feels better soon, and I hope you don't catch whatever it is also!

I have a couple of those hoodies also and I quite like them. They fit soooo much better than that Scuba Oversized Full Zip, and they're so much more affordable (especially on sale!)

Those Vuori joggers look intriguing too....

    1. Thanks Lola! So far so good. Hubby is starting to feel a little better today.

Which colors do you have? I am looking to add a third and possibly the extra cozy fleece one. But agreed, so much better than the Scuba Oversized hoodies. Glad I am able to find an alternative! So cozy too!

    2. I got the Gd Purple Ash (very similar to Lulu's Dusky Lavender) , and Heather Cloud White. Love them both. Now I'm admiring the Gd Light Iris, but I really don't need another hoodie! Haven't tried the extra cozy fleece yet - if you get one I'd love to see a review!

Glad to hear your hubby is starting to feel better.

  2. Thanks for the review, Leslie. I’m not fond of anything cropped but this hoodie is so cute on you. Ocean Blue is gorgeous and I love that it has a bit of teal in it. It’s a much better deal than LLL’s version.

My Scuba Light Hoodie in Dusky Lavender arrived and the color is really pretty. I don’t need another hoodie but Scuba Light fits me well and Dusky Lavender is hard to resist. I still regret for not getting it in Heathered Briar Rose which was such a lovely colour.

I hope your husband feels better in no time! You take good care of yourself too, Leslie!

    1. Hi Andrea! I have come to terms with the fact that I mostly wear hoodies all the time now, especially the last two years. Definitely don't need anymore!

Dusky Lavender is so pretty. I still have two regular Scuba's that I will keep. I don't wear them as much though. Sometimes I debate about rehoming them. But just love the colors.

He is starting to feel better today. Thank you!

  4. hi Leslie, Thanks for the fit review! I prefer the length of XS on you. The slightly longer length hits at a flattering spot just above your hips!

I hope your husband will get better soon! Stay well and take care!

  5. Wow your fit review is so helpful! I was debating on trying an XS and think it would be very cute now that I've seen your reviews! :D I wish LLL would make a petite scuba full zip that would be my dream! I agree the fabric is not as nice... but the fit is so much better I still don't wear my scuba 1/2's much. I did wear my 1/2 zip over a casual dress and that was really cute bc the wide hem of the 1/2 zip flowed into the dress :)

    2. Thanks Janessa! I'm a fan of Aritzia, just saw they have the Little puff Jacket in Iridescent Mulberry and I think I'm going to order it! I just love that color.

Lulu just needs to give us Asia fit already.

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's almost Halloween! I actually have a dentist appointment on Halloween. One of my molars chipped and needs to be filled in.   Happy May! Can't believe summer is right around the corner. I'm looking forward to visiting my family later this month. It's been nearly a year since I've been back to NYC.
