Review! Songmont Medium Gather Bag Ochre Suede - Read Before You Buy!

Songmont has been all over my social media and Youtube reviewers have been promoting this brand hard. Most reviews I have seen, raved about the quality and calling it affordable luxury. I've been interested in this brand for a long time (since last year) and I actually purchased this bag back in April, but never posted a review. The bag has been sitting in my closet untouched all this time. Let's find out why.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall.

I'll start with the positives. The design is actually pretty amazing. I love the slouchiness. The hidden magnetic closures are very cool (there's more than one). I love that you can wear this bag as a crossbody, over the shoulder as a hobo style or by top handle.

This is the medium size, and to be fair I should have probably gotten the small size instead. I was not expecting the medium to be this big. This is definitely a large bag in my opinion.

Carrying it over the shoulder as a hobo bag.

Let's take a closer look at the bag. I love that the top handle has a hidden magnet that attaches itself to the opening of the bag. It keeps the handle out of the way when its not in use. I wish more bags did this! However, the top handle itself is very wide and if you have small hands like I do, it's not the most comfortable.

The suede feels rougher than it looks. From the photos on the website, I was expecting softer suede. It just feels okay. Nothing special. The bag charm looks better on the website than it does in person. I have to say whoever is in charge of their marketing deserves a raise.

My biggest disappointment is the quality of the leather on this bag. For the price of $579, which is more costly than a lot of Coach bags, the leather strap feels cheap. I hate to say it, but it really needs to be said. I was actually considering the Gather bag in the Navy blue leather, but I am glad I didn't purchase it because if the leather is anything like the strap, I would have been majorly disappointed.

The leather is on the thin side, which normally is not an issue. However, the strap came bent out of shape, and it just would not straighten itself out. I've never had a leather strap behave this way. See how it's curved and sticks out to the left? It does not look good at all. You can actually see it in one of my mod shots (third one from the top). The good news, is the strap is completely removable. If you like the bag but hate the strap, just swap it out for something else.

Interestingly enough, the suede for the pouch charm, is a lot softer than the bag. I wish the bag was made out of the same suede used for the charm. The charm is $75 and sold separately. Another thing I didn't like is the stitched on patch for branding. I would have preferred a debossed stamp on the suede.

The strap has D rings to attach more charms.

For such a large bag, the opening is quite small. I found it hard to fish around for my items. It's like digging in black hole. For the closure there is a strong hidden magnet which I find very cool.

There is a kangaroo pocket on the back of the bag where you can slip a sweater through. There are also hidden magnets on the side openings that keep the pockets closed when not in use. It's actually very clever design.

Let's talk about the fabric lining. It doesn't feel in any way luxurious. It just felt like very basic fabric that I would see used on cheap bedding. Why they didn't go with something more luxurious like micro fiber is beyond me.

There is an inside zipper pocket and on the other side a slip pocket.

I removed the strap in the below photo, the rings that you see sticking out are also removable. I was debating on swapping the strap and trying it that way, but honestly with the amount of things I dislike about this bag, I don't think switching out the strap would save it. While this bag is affordable, I can't say that it is a luxury bag at all.

That's it for me! Hope you all have a wonderful Monday! Full disclosure, I do not get any commission for this brand, and this is my honest review as always. Links provided are for convenience, in case you were curious enough to want to see the photos on their website.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
