Fit Review Friday! Cool Racerback II Nulu Diamond Dye Graphite Gray Pink Pastel & Scuba Hoodie Heathered Cherry Tint

Happy Friday! We made it another week! If you missed it I posted a really good WMTM update earlier today. Lots of good sales and I picked up a couple of tops I've been eyeing for a while. I hope I like them! Let's get to the fit review.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 and typically a size 4 in Lululemon tops, but today I'm actually wearing size 6 in both items!! I guess I'm still a growing girl? 😆

Scuba Hoodie Heathered Cherry Tint Size 6
(Currently sold out but very similar in Brier Rose on sale now.)

My main pet peeve about Scuba Hoodies have always been how tight the sleeve cuffs are and lately the size 4 has been too tight across the shoulders and back for me. This may be because I'm lifting more and my shoulders are getting wider- which I've mentioned recently. I decided I would try a size 6 just to see if I could make it work on my petite frame.

It's definitely not fitted at all in the body, but it looks comfortable and it FEELS very comfortable. No more tightness across the shoulders at all. The wrist and sleeves do not feel restrictive anymore. I actually kind of love how it fits. The sleeves are definitely too long on me, but I don't hate it. I came across a quote by Coco Chanel,

"Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury."

I think that quote is something to really live by. Every purchase you make, especially when it comes to clothing, must feel comfortable on your body. If it's not comfortable, would you really reach for it and want to wear it? One thing I've really learned from this pandemic situation- might as well just wear what is comfortable since everyone is home with no where to go. That's what it's all about! Marie Kondo likes to go by "Does it spark joy?" which is also important, but Coco Chanel's quote is just as good.

I feel FREEEEEEE!

For those who are curious, I have a couple of old photos of me wearing a size 4. Also a little loose in the body but semi fitted. I think if you have the confidence, you can wear anything.

Next up, I ordered a Cool Racerback II in the pretty pink diamond dye. I believe this is the first time I'm trying one of these on in nulu. I also decided to size up because I recall these were very fitted on me in a size 4 and I wasn't a fan of feeling like a sausage. I think sizing up is the right call.

I think the front looks great, the neckline is not too low. The original one used to always show my bra, and I really disliked that. The fabric is really soft and buttery. The length looks a little too long on me I think. I don't hate it though. Not 100% sure I want to have this hemmed. If you've had this done, were you happy with the results? Otherwise I like the updated fit and I think the print looks really good. I'm surprised at how much I like the diamond dye. It's very pretty in person!

(It almost kind of looks like a mini dress?)

#FlexFriday! Sorry... couldn't help it. 😆

What do you guys think? Leave the length as is, or hem it? That's it for me! Have a great weekend everybody!

  1. I love the quote by Coco Chanel. As I get older, comfort has become more important to me. I am wearing a All Yours Fleece Hoodie in S. XS definitely would have been a "better" fit, but hey I am the one who wears it so it is my choice.

I really like the pattern placement on your Diamond Die CRB. It does look a bit long on you. Can you bunch it up on the bottom? Does your local Lulu have a good seamstress? My local store's seamstress ruined one of my husband's shirts. The educator told me that they have been unhappy with her for a long time. Maybe talk to an educator at your local store first?

    1. I have a pair of Groove Pant ruined by a Lulu seamstress as well. The hem was cut too short and they added a piece of extra fabric so there was actually a seam along the edge of the hem! I was really upset cos the Groove Pant had a pique texture (not the solid color Luon fabric) and was completely sold out. Really bummed.

    2. Yikes. I'll have to hold on to the tank if I decide to keep it. Might be awhile before I manage to get back into a store. I tried going into one a few weeks back and all the appointment slots were booked for the day. I'll try it on again with a few other bottoms and see if I think I'm okay with it being that length. It's not bothersome, I just wonder if it looks like it's a mini dress instead LOL.

    3. hi Leslie, what if you fold the tank inwards? Would it stay put? The pattern does look nice and the fit is great on you!

Andrea, I'm sorry to hear that the seamstress ruined your clothes. So far, I've only had good experience with the store at Queen St Toronto, so I only go there for hemming service now.

    4. Hi Karen! Hmmm not sure if folding inwards will work, but I'll give it a try! Never thought about doing that. Thanks!

  2. The Scuba Hoodie in light cotton fleece is my favorite and it fits very nice. Mind you I have toothpick arms LOL!

Size 6 does look a bit roomy across the body but as long as you feel comfortable in it, it’s a keeper! The color is really pretty.

I might wanna give the Cool Racer Back II a try. The neckline was too low for the old version,

    1. If you give the new CRB a try let me know what you think! I really like it even with the long length.

  3. I love my CRB IIs! I really like the Nulu fabric. I have both of the diamond dye colors. I find it just a tad too long on me but not so much that it is bothersome. I think it looks great on you! So does the cherry tint Scuba, I grabbed it a few weeks ago myself and I think it’s a pretty color.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks Jenny! I wanted the peri purple too when it went on sale a couple of weeks ago but missed it in the size 6.

    2. Scuba Hoodie 1/2 Zip just arrived. It's not tight for me across the back, but I do find it pretty wide and boxy. I don't mind the bagginess of the arms. I'll take photos over the weekend, but my initial reaction is it may be going back. I do love the color though!

    3. Still a toss up for me too. Agreed about the boxy fit. If only we could design our own Scubas, right!? :)

  4. That scuba looks soooo cozy! I love that relaxed fit! maybe I'd like my scuba more if I tried a size up too... HMM!I've had hemming done with great results but the length can vary a tiny bit. I always hem a little longer just in case. Worst case you hem it some more! I can't wait for your scuba 1/2 zip review hehe

    1. It really is cozy, you should give it a try and size up next time! Good point... I'll sit on it about hemming the tank. I'll have the fit review up next week for the Scuba 1/2 zip!

  5. I've had hemming done on most of my crb and power y both at Perimeter and Buckhead - but I prefer Perimeter they seem to be much more "on the ball". (I believe you are still a local). But haven't done a NULU one though nor have I had any hemming done during pandemic. Some people advise against hemming for the resale value but they tend to be much taller than those on this blog.

    1. Hi Sarah! Oh good to know about Perimeter. I haven't been there in a long time- since March I think. I decided to keep the CRB and will wait until things get better before I hem any more items. Good point about resale value. Definitely something to keep in mind!

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
