Fit Review Friday! Athleta Anguilla Button Up and Utility Crop Button Up

Happy Friday! We survived another week. I have an interesting fit review for you today. I say interesting because I'm still not totally sure how I feel about one of the items. I may leave it up to your comments to decide if I keep it or not!

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically a size 4 in Lululemon tops. For Athleta this translates to PXS or XXS/XS depending on the cut and style.

This button up is lightweight and soft. The color is a pretty light blue chambray. This would be really great for summer tied up in the front in a cute little knot. BUT- there is a pretty big but here, haha - the back completely flummoxed me. I think it's because I have a very short torso and decent sized hips. But with the front tied up, the back does not lay right. This may be one of those tops that just feels comfortable and looks cute from the front. The back might just have to be tucked in. I'm not really sure. I am not a huge fan of tucking in shirts because it usually makes me look thicker in the waist and I don't have a small waist to begin with.

What is going on here? 😑

Unfortunately this one is going back to Athleta. I think it would work on someone who is definitely taller than I am. It gets great reviews but it just didn't work for me. Next up, we have the Utility Crop Button Up. I'm wearing a size XS. I am not sure if the XXS would have fit better because of where it falls on my hips. I think if it was any smaller it might bunch up around my hips.

This is one of those tops that I think people either really like or really dislike. The front is shorter than the back and it also curves down to the sides. It's also very different from anything I have in my closet. It's a very loose fit and I think it would be a size down for most people with a normal length torso. This is supposed to be a crop top, but not so much on me!

The fabric is see-through and a nude cami or tank top will have to be worn underneath if you want to wear it to the office. But who knows when that will be? My office is still saying mid to late July, but with the second wave that's coming I can see it being pushed back to fall. I think this would also work for my many Zoom meetings that I have these days.

The fabric is a bit wrinkly out of the packaging and it isn't super soft, it feels a little stiff. So what do you think of this top? I almost wonder if I should try the XXS just to see? It is very comfortable and airy. I almost feel like this could be an Olsen twin kind of top. My husband voted yes on this. He thinks it looks cute on me.

I would like to hear your thoughts on this top! Keep or return? I'll leave it up to you! That's it for me, hope you all have a great weekend! Stay safe out there.

  1. I think the white top looks cute on you. The oversized fit seems to be the trend now, which I'm not a fan of. I like the pintucking at the waist. It looks like a garment that should be ironed for a more polished look.
If your hubby likes it, I say keep it or try the next size down!

    1. Thanks Shirley! Still thinking about it and I agree it would look better if it was ironed.

  2. The white top has potential. My vote is to try the size down.

Have the retail stores opened in Atlanta yet? MA just started phase 2. I plan to make a trip to Lulu to return a few items after they open. I am nervous but I am sick of dealing with the online returns. I had to wait for one month for my recent ones, only after I contacted them. I don't mind the wait but I do mind that I have to keep track of each one of them in order to get my money back.

    1. Yes things are opening up in Atlanta. I'm getting emails that Athleta and Lulu near me have both opened again. I am really nervous about it too. I think I might be okay doing returns, but I'm not sure about fitting rooms yet... =T I had to wait about 5 weeks for my Lululemon return to hit and I had to wait even longer for my Athleta returns! I think they're averaging almost 7 weeks.

  3. I actually like both of them! The white cropped one is cute but the chambray one looks so comfy. I sometimes fold the back once along the upper hip so it would look like the shirt is tucked in. Looks neat and won’t cause any bulkiness.

The white shirt seems a bit big on the shoulders but the length might be too short if you size down. I think this size looks cute on you.

    1. The chambray is really comfy and soft. I tried it on with the fold in the back like you suggested and it definitely looks better that way! So now I'm thinking hmmmmm...

Thanks for another vote! Oh I got my Align Wide Leg Crop and the super high waist is toooooo high for me. It really does hit my last rib. Hhahahaha.

  4. I think the blue one is cute but the back lays kinda odd! I think you can find a similar look with a more petite fit! I like the white shirt more and think you should try the size down just to compare! That way you know you're picking your favorite fit!

    1. You're probably right. I guess I will have to place another Athleta order! Wish the returns would hurry up and kick in.

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...
