Fit Review! J.crew Going Out Blazer & Athleta Mercer Herringbone Tight

Another weekend already gone. I won't ever understand how the weekend can go by so quickly. Last month I wrote a review on J.Crew blazers and one of the ones I wrote about was the Going Out Blazer. I originally purchased it in navy, but returned it because I ended up keeping a different one in the same color. I reordered the Going Out Blazer in heathered dove gray but I'm unsure if it looks as nice as it does in navy.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11. For J.Crew I usually wear 2P in tops or size 0 in regular. For Athleta I'm a PXS in bottoms.

Just to write a quick review, the size 0 fits perfectly in length, sleeves, and shoulders. There is no need to get the petite version unless you want a cropped sleeve. I personally prefer full length sleeves on a blazer. It's a fairly budget friendly blazer that can be worn to work and on the weekends paired with jeans. Right now J.Crew is having a 30% off with code AUTUMN

What do you guys think? Is it a keeper? As for the pants I'm wearing, they are Athleta's Mercer Herringbone Tight. These are high waisted and sit right underneath my belly button. They are fitted from the hips through the thighs and taper down to the ankle with an inseam of 25 inches. I'm wearing these in a size PXS.

From the back these are super flattering. I mean, even I'm impressed with how good these look on me. I purchased the navy over the black. The black looks more of a heathered gray to me and for work I prefer dark colored bottoms.

Here is a close up of the color and herringbone. There is also a seam that runs along the front of the tights to lengthen your legs. At the ankle is a slit detail that really sets these apart from regular tights. I do think these are office appropriate. I am waiting for the weather to get a little cooler so I can test them out. The one negative about these tights are the lack of buttons and zippers. Which means I have to pull them up and make sure my underthings are laying flat and not bunched up anywhere. I know you all know what I'm talking about!

Price wise, they are a little steep at $89, but if you're new to Athleta you can receive 20% off your first full price item with my referral link

I like that these also have side pockets to stash my phone. They're almost invisible to the eye unless you're really looking for them. Ankle boots will look great with these when I'm at the office, but I also like that these can work with my Allbirds as well. I'm wearing an older version of Allbirds in this photoshoot. Allbirds have since tweaked them a little bit, which I will cover in an upcoming review.

That's all for me! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

  1. Thanks for the review! Even though I wear grey all the time and am not a big fan of navy, I personally think Going Out Blazer in navy looks nicer on you than the grey one. Navy just looks more sharp and chic for some reason.

The herringbone tight is really nice and fits like a glove! I hate having to hem pants and this tight has the perfect length on you. Love the slit on the hem which is cute! It’s definitely office appropriate and even though the price is steep, I’m sure you’ll be wearing it a lot, dressing it up or down.

My Ivivva Jacket is supposed to arrive today and I’ll let you know how it fits!

    Happy Monday! :)

    1. Ok, so it wasn't just me who thought the navy looked better. I guess I'll return the gray.

Exciting! I ordered two jackets from Ivivva too, one in size 12 one in size 14 to compare. Definitely let me know what you think of it.

      Happy Monday!

    2. The Ivivva Rain Shine Jacket arrived and the zipper bulges out really bad when zipped, The overall fit is small and I’m surprised the shoulders are tight with my small frame. I ordered size 14 and mind you I’m only 5’3” at 105 lbs.

Looks like I’ll have to stick with Lululemon, :(

    3. That's a bummer. I wonder if I'll even fit the shoulders in the size 14. =( Well, at least now you know!

  2. The entire outfit is very polished. I think the grey looks nice but probably more appropriate for casual wear with dark jeans. I really like herringbone texture of the pants, I just wish they had a zipper / fly.
    Thanks for the fit reviews!

    1. You're probably right about the gray blazer. I think I personally prefer the navy though.

Agreed! I wish they had a zipper fly too but I think the fit wouldn't be the same.

  3. You’re right, those pants look amazing in the the back!!

  4. I love those pants on you! You make me want to get more athleta. I’ve been spending less on lulu lately. Perhaps Black Friday I’ll get some athleta pants!
The blazer looks really good too. :)

    1. I've been spending more money at Athleta lately. I think if I tally up the amounts it may be equal up to this point in time. By the end of the year I wouldn't be surprised if I spent more at Athleta this year than Lulu.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
