An Alo store finally opened up near me and of course I go in thinking I would do some try-ons for my blog. The second I walk into the store I see this black duffle bag, so of course I needed to take a closer look. If you'd like to watch me on camera express my shock, please check out my video. 😅
For fans of Jared's commentary, he has notes in the video that you'll enjoy! 😂
I vaguely remember when everyone was talking about how high the prices were for Alo Yoga's initial bag collection but I couldn't remember the number off the top of my head. I go home and look up the bag thinking maybe I'd like to do a full review for my YouTube channel, but my jaw was on the floor when I saw the price tag of $3300. 😱 I was completely in shock because their hoodies are $150 or so and I was not prepared for premium luxury pricing. While the quality of the bag seemed high, the design wasn't anything special. I would have thought maybe for their initial bag collection, prices would have been around $700 to $1200 as mid-tier luxury. Even though they are handcrafted in Italy and made out of calfskin, I was not expecting a $3300 price tag. There is a mini version priced at $1200, but it barely looks like I can fit my iPhone in it.
Each bag also comes with an Intention Crystal. The color of the crystal depends on the color of the bag. And the crystals cost anywhere from $275 to $300. I don't know too much about crystals, but this seems a bit much. I'm guessing you can probably find one on etsy for maybe $50. In fact, let's see. Yep, I just found one for $18. 😆
($300?!)
Does anyone have one of these Voyage bags? Leave me a comment because we need to talk! That is it for me, I hope you all have a wonderful start to a brand new week!

What I would rather spend $3300 on instead of the Voyage Bag.
(And have $900 left over. This is high on my wishlist!)

The price is ridiculously high!!! I have to say the bag looks well made but $3,300??? And $300 for a crystal charm???
ReplyDeleteI have no words but love Jared’s comments. :DDDD
Andrea
Hi Andrea! RIGHT?! I could not believe my eyes. I really don't see how they can justify that price.
DeleteJared is too funny with his comments. I'll be sure to let him know! 🤣
I see your point, there isn’t much heritage to sell, and all the comparable bags you mentioned had a suede lining, not fabric. It’s a nice simple bowling bag design, but I feel like you can get that anywhere as well. There’s always the emperor has no clothes item every season, this isn’t there yet, but on the same list with the Chanel no shoes 🤣 this alo bag is definitely for the logo at a ridiculous price for the sake of it. And yes, at $3,300 you need to go with the pretentious pronunciation of it 😆
ReplyDeleteHi AC! In my opinion any bag over $1500 should not have fabric lining. It downgrades a bag. I would prefer leather lined and if not, then I would be fine with suede. I know there are some who say it makes it harder to clean, but honestly fabric is hard to clean out stains too.
DeleteThe Chanel half shoes crack me up. That's just so ridiculous.
🤣Glad you agree with my pronunciation of Voyage!!!
I loved this review and Jared's comments! Alo is crazy. They don't have any kind of precedent for creating high end bags. Why would you start at this price point if you wanted to go that direction?
ReplyDeleteTotally random info, but in middle school one of my best friends was the younger sister of one of the Alo founders. He was much older than us, so we didn't interact much. But, every time I see something about this brand, I think of him listening to very loud music and lifting weights in their game room while we were trying to enjoy our Tiger Beat magazines in peace, and it always makes me roll my eyes. This $3300 bag and the $300 crystals is no exception. LOL
Hi Stacy! I'm guessing they wanted to get noticed for being different aka premium luxury. It would have been better if they branched off and released it under a different name as a sister brand.
DeleteLOL Tiger Beat!!! Ohhh the good old days! That is hysterical you knew him. 🤣🤣🤣 Love it.
I enjoyed the video and of course Jared’s comments. What a ridiculous price for that bag!
ReplyDeleteThat said, I just returned from a trip to Singapore where I saw so many people wearing Alo. I saw their logo on so much clothing and hats on both women and men. I don’t know the brand well enough to tell you any of the specific item names.
I had another thought. Alo makes clothes for yoga and such. So why a luxurious leather bag? Wouldn’t it make more sense to make a nice nylon bag more suited to the gym or yoga studio?
DeleteI'll let Jared know you enjoyed his comments. Maybe I will have him add more commentary again! Agree, they should have launched it under a sister brand. It just doesn't go with the athleisure clothing imo. A nylon bag would have been better. Or even something mid-luxury would have made more sense!
DeleteWow, that is crazy! I think Alo clothing looks nice in photos, and I see a lot of people wearing it, but the quality of everything I've tried from them is just so bad. It doesn't seem actually made to wear for life...just photos.
ReplyDeleteHi LZ! I haven't tried Alo in many many years. If I find something I actually like, I will get it and report back on the quality. For the price you would think it would be semi-decent. Sad if it's really that awful!
