Happy Friday! Fit Review Banana Republic Textured Suede Jacket

Happy Friday! This is my first clothing purchase for 2026. Banana Republic really has my attention lately, especially their leather and suede jackets. Ever since I bought their distressed flight jacket, I've been obsessed. It's no surprise that this textured suede jacket caught my eye.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size XXS or PXS in Banana Republic. I also wear size PXS in Athleta and 4/6 or XS/S in Lululemon.

Love the pockets. 😍

My studio/office is still not ready yet, so I improvised with these fit photos. I wasn't sure what to expect with textured suede, so the first thing I noticed is how it feels. It does feel a little rough. It makes sense since it's textured. I'm not sure what it was treated with to give it texture, but it isn't the soft suede that everyone is used to. If you're looking for that soft suede, this is not it.

I'm wearing size XXS and the fit is almost perfect. The length hits right around my hips, maybe slightly higher. It has a straight cut throughout the body. The sleeves are slightly long. I have one sleeve showing the full length and the other sleeve I it cuffed halfway. I think it looks good with the half cuff.

Overall, it's a relaxed fit with slightly dropped shoulders. The back is plain with a simple seam down the middle. The inside of the jacket is unlined, it's soft leather on the inside. The color in real life isn't quite as dark as the pictures show on the website. I'd say it's a little lighter and I would describe it as a burnt caramel. It's lovely in person.

There are three metal clasp closures on the front which I think is so unique. It's visually interesting and I love that it's different from the usual buttons or zipper closure. The pointed collar can be popped up for a stylish look. Overall, I am really pleased with this suede jacket. I'm just not 100% sure I will keep it yet, mainly because it is an expensive piece even with my discount. Retails for $700, and I was able to get it for $550 after I used rewards. I'm going to hold onto it for a few days to mull it over for a bit. Since I am only allowing myself 24 purchases for the year, I have to be extremely picky with what I keep!

This is the most accurate representation of the color.

Let me know your thoughts on this jacket. Is it a keeper? Or should I return it? That's it for me and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! It's my 45th trip around the sun, so I am going to relax this weekend and try to enjoy the new house!

  2. Hm, I would return. Although the jacket looks nice overall, the sleeves are a tad too long. If you're allowing yourself only 24 purchases this year, each item needs to fit perfectly!

    1. Hi Karen! This is a good point about the sleeves, but being as short as I am, all jackets on me will never have perfect sleeves. I think Athleta comes close if it is petite but most of the time it's still too long.

  3. I think the jacket is pretty cute, and I think it's a keep - but only if you're over the moon about it. It's a pricey piece, and it needs to be a LOVE.

I hope you have a fun and indulgent birthday weekend!

    1. Thanks Lola! I did have a pretty nice birthday, but I'm going to be celebrating all month hahahaha. I'm still debating on the jacket.

  4. I can see from photo that suede is buttery soft. However I’m not a big fan of the design. The sleeves should fit nicer at that price even w your discount.
Btw going strong and haven’t bought anything new this year. Still discovering nice things from my closet ❤️

    1. Congrats! Keep it up. How long do you think you can go without making a purchase? Should make a game out of it.

  5. Happy birthday Leslie! A nice statement jacket could definitely earn a place in the one of 24 this year, in concept seems pretty worthy to me! The sleeve length is a bit much for that cut and at that price point you would probably want less trade offs. I do like the buckles on it, so unique and interesting to look at.

For some reason that cross chill jacket is calling my name, but I really don’t need another one of the those jackets.

    1. Hi AC! I like the Cross Chill Jacket but that zipper takes so much effort.

Thanks for your input on the suede jacket. I am leaning towards returning it.

  6. I think the sleeves are far too long for this jacket to take a place among one of your very special 24 new items of clothing this year.

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...
