Fit Review Friday! Banana Republic Distressed Leather Flight Jacket

Happy Friday! I am obsessed with this leather jacket I recently bought from Banana Republic. Back when I lived in New York, I used to love wearing leather jackets in the fall. There's just something about wearing a nice leather jacket that instantly elevates your outfit. When I moved to Atlanta in 2017, I sold them all off, mainly because I thought at the time "leather weather" in Atlanta was too short of a window to justify keeping them. Fast forward 8 years later, I now know the perfect leather jacket season in Atlanta really does exist. The trick is to buy a leather jacket that's roomy enough to wear a cashmere cardigan underneath it and you can easily wear it as a fall/winter jacket.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size Petite XS in Banana Republic and Athleta. I also wear size 4/6 or XS/S in Lululemon.

I've been wearing this jacket almost everyday since I bought it. Right now when I leave the house in the morning to go to work, it's in the 30s. Definitely chilly. I usually wear a t-shirt and layer a cashmere cardigan underneath my leather jacket and it keeps me warm enough. However, I should say that I naturally run hot. By the time I leave the office it's usually in the 50s and this is the most optimal temperature to wear leather in my opinion. Fall/winter in Atlanta is very mild compared to the northeast. I admit, I could never pull this off if I was still living in New York or Boston.

Back to this gorgeous Banana Republic flight jacket. I saw it at the store and instantly grabbed it to try on. They only had size XS in stock. This does come in XXS, which I think would have also worked if you wanted it to be more fitted, but the XS is perfect for me. It looks casual but still very cool in the slightly oversized fit. The sleeves are actually not too long and I love that I can push up the sleeves for a different look. The leather is amazingly soft and supple and it already has the distressed worn-in look that I love so much.

The shearling collar is removable, but I honestly love it. It keeps my neck warm and I don't feel the need for a scarf. The pockets are very roomy and easy access.  For closure this jacket offers a zipper and snaps. Unfortunately the jacket has been sold out online for months. I was really lucky to find one at the store. For $698, it is steep for a jacket, but I think this particular style is classic and I will be wearing it for years! I don't think there's one thing I don't like about this jacket. Banana Republic has really stepped up the past couple of years and I am loving their Heritage pieces and classic styles that they were known for back in the 90s and 2000s.

I scoured the internet to find similar jackets, but I really feel like Banana Republic is the best one. The Coach leather jacket I linked to below is super close, but it doesn't have the distressed leather. Unless of course you're not a fan of distressed leather, then it might be for you! Let me know what you think. Do you have a favorite fall/winter leather jacket? That's it for me, have a great weekend!

  1. Thanks for doing a review on it, it’s gorgeous! The other ones just aren’t the same, the distressed leather makes it chefs kiss

  2. That jacket looks so good on you! I really like the distressing too - it works on the bomber style. I have a favorite leather jacket, but I definitely couldn't wear it in winter - it's a moto-style and there is no room to layer. I was so excited when I found it; the sleeves are the perfect length lol! I've been rocking that jacket for YEARS. :)

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...
