New Review! Dr Dennis Gross FaceWare LED Light Therapy Mask

Happy Friday! I've been meaning to write up a review for the Dr. Dennis Gross LED mask. I started using it towards the end of March 2025 and figured a 6 month usage would be a good time to finally write up my review.

*This review is not sponsered. I purchased this mask with my own money. This is my honest review, as always.*

Just for some background information, I did use a Solawave Red Light Therapy Wand for 7 months prior to buying the Dr. Dennis Gross LED mask. The Solawave wand was a gift from my sister. My sister used the wand for a few months and was seeing results so she sent me one to try. I didn't love that you had to hold the wand and move it back and forth for 6 minutes (3 minutes each side). It felt pretty tedious. After about 7 months of using the wand, I thought my face looked a little less red at the cheeks, but didn't notice any fading on my sun spots. I felt like I needed to step it up to see more improvement.

What I like about the mask is the short time it takes for one session. It only takes 3 minutes. You can choose from three settings. Red light, blue light, or a combination of both. If I wasn't seeing any potential pimples starting to form, I would stick to the red light (stimulate collagen and reduce wrinkles and also helps with skin tone). If I felt like I needed some acne prevention I would use the blue light by itself or the combination of the two. I used it every night after I took a shower. On the weekends I would try and use it in the morning and evening if I had the time.

The mask itself has a an adjustable rubbery strap that goes around the back of your head above the ears. I like to put it on and sit in my chair and just close my eyes and relax for the three minutes. I don't think the strap can hold the mask in place for three minutes while you walk around and do other things. In my experience the mask is on the heavier side and it slides down. The fit isn't perfect which is no surprise because everyone's face is shaped differently. The mask tends to sit flush against my forehead and my cheek bones. It doesn't touch my face anywhere else. Once I am finished using the mask I wipe it clean with an alcohol wipe and place it back in its protective dustbag.

The battery lasts between 7-8 uses and I usually charge it about once a week. It comes with a charger and I would recommend that you only use the charger it comes with.

Photo on the left taken July 2024 vs Photo on the right taken August 31st 2025

July 2024 photo is when I first started using the Solawave wand. When I took that photo, I remember thinking my skin just looked kind of splotchy in places, there was some inflammation and my overall skintone just looks dull. The photo on the right was taken at the end of August 2025. I am quite pleased with the difference. The sunspots are still there. I rarely used sunscreen while I was growing up in the 80s and 90s, so I'm sure it eventually caught up with me. Have the spots faded any? Hard to tell. If I am being honest, I don't think so? But to be fair, these spots have been around for many many years. I'm not expecting them to lighten up that easily. However, I am pleased that my acne has calmed down, I don't get as many as I used to. I still get some hormonal acne on my chin every so often. When I do, I use pimple patches! When I first heard about them, I was really skeptical. When I saw them on sale at Costco, I bought some to try and those things really work. It just sucks all the white pus out. TMI, I know! 😆

By the way, I no longer use any makeup. I stopped around 2020 when the pandemic started and I just never got back to using it.  I love that I no longer spend the extra time putting make up on every morning and removing it at night. All of these photos were taken makeup free. When I took that photo back in July 2024, I really wasn't pleased with it. I remember thinking uughhh, my skin just looks awful. I actually hated looking at the photo afterwards and feeling not so good about myself. But when I took the recent photo last month, I felt good about my skin. Since I see my face everyday, I can't be sure that there are any noticeable differences, but I know that I feel much better about my skin and happier that I can post these photos for everyone to see and I don't have any anxiety over it. I'm in my mid 40s and when I look back at some of the photos of myself in my 30s, I think, "Wow, I just looked so much younger there. I look cuter!" and it makes me a little sad. When I was in my 30s and I looked back at the photos of myself in my 20s, I thought. "Wow I looked like a teenager, look at that baby face!" It was all that collagen. I know when I'm in my 50s, I will look back at these photos and think, "Ah I looked younger here for sure." My hope is that I will stay happy with my skin going forward. With that I will keep using this mask!

August 2025 - makeup free

I think my face has a slight glow to it, whereas before it looked dull. I think my skin's texture and coloring has improved. Do you see a difference or is it just all in my head? I definitely feel content with my face, which I haven't felt in a long time.

If you end up trying this mask, it includes a one year warranty. Make sure to register for it within 30 days of purchase because I have read reviews where the mask will stop working within the year. So far mine has been working perfectly. Do you use a mask? Would love to know your experience. That's it for me, if I missed something in this review and if you have any questions I am happy to answer them! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. 😊

My Current Skin Care Routine

(This is very gentle on the face. After it's dry I use serum.)

(currently on sale at Nordstrom.)

(After serum, follow with moisturizer. Then sunscreen.)

(on super sale!)

(Exfoliate once or twice a week.)

(Use once a week, may try to build up to twice a week eventually.)

(This is the only makeup I will use if I have a pimple and I need to record a video for my channel. I will use a brush and dab some on to cover up some of the redness. Otherwise I am makeup free in my videos and photos for my blog.)

(These are amazing, they really work!)

  2. That first photo of the light mask is very Hanibal Lecter-esque, lol! I think your skin looks great - you have a glow that you didn't have in the before pic. You're influencing me to get that mask now!

You don't look like you're in your mid-40's in any of the pics, by the way! I envy you :)

    1. Hi Lola! Thanks so much! If you really want to get one, wait until the holidays, they will go on sale maybe 25-30% off. But have to be quick because they do sell out fast. I was watching them last year and missed out.

  3. Your skin looks great.

I love that you wear no makeup. I know some people who wear so much that all I can see is the makeup, not the person underneath.

    1. Thank you so much! I know what you mean, when you have to paint your face on every morning to the point where you are unrecognizable without makeup. Not a fan of that either. That said, makeup really can do wonders!!

  4. You got great results! I bought the Kala one and didn’t use it as religiously as you. So I want to try again and see if consistency helps

    1. Hi AC! Consistency is def key. Sometimes I wished my mask was longer than 3 min each session because I find it relaxing. Try and incorporate it into your daily routine after you shower.

  5. YOu have beautiful skin! I've changed all my skincare products to Korean or Japanese brands now. I think you can get great quality asian products that cost less than the conventional brands out there. Cindy

    1. Thanks Cindy! I've changed my sunscreen to a Korean brand. I really love it, so I may see about changing my moisturizer, but don't know where to start. Which one do you love most?

  6. Hello, I just wanted to let you know that you’re absolutely beautiful without makeup on and you certainly don’t look to be in your fifties to me, you look to be in your late thirties to early forties to me so I don’t think the loss of collagen over the years appears as significant to the average person as it appears to you. I use a different red light therapy mask because of the reviews about the mask no longer working after a short period of time but I’m glad your mask has been functioning without issues for over a year! I’ve been following you for over five years now; most recently, I bought the Lululemon Two Tone Tote because of you. Anyway, please don’t forget how gorgeous you are without makeup; I’m glad you decided that it wasn’t serving you anymore to apply it constantly so that you could free yourself from near daily application, touch ups and removal; it must be such a liberating feeling!

    1. Hi there, thanks so much for reading my blog! I'm actually in my mid 40s. 😅 I am loving the no make up lifestyle. Would love to know what mask you're using? And how do you like yours?

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
