Fit Review Friday! Banana Republic Boxy Linen Short Sleeve Shirt, Mid Rise Relaxed Painter Pull On Pant, Oversized Cotton Silk Crew Neck T Shirt, Cashmere Short Sleeve Sweater Polo and Labor Day Sales!

Happy Friday! The last days of summer have arrived. Who is ready for the long weekend and all the sales? By the way, I've decided that September will be a no-spend month. It's time to do another reset. You're welcome to join me! More the merrier. As usual, no spending on anything that's non-essential. I did this back in January and it was amazing how successful I was. I think I spent under $500 that month. If you decide to join me, you have three days left to put in your last purchases before the challenge begins.

Today's review is all about Banana Republic. I've been really impressed with their offerings lately and have added a few of their items to my closet recently. At the end of the post I will also cover Labor Day sales.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size XS/PXS in Banana Republic. I also wear size 4/6 and XS/S in Lululemon and size PXS in Athleta.

I absolutely love Banana Republic's linen. I don't know where they source their linen from but it is the best linen I've come across. I've been searching for a short sleeve button up shirt and I finally found a winner. I tried on Athleta's version and wasn't impressed with the cut or the feel of their linen this year. Athleta's linen is thicker and it's not as soft. Banana Republic has the perfect light weight linen for summer and it is very soft.

Many of you have brought up that linen wrinkles easily. Yes, it does. However, it is the nature of the fabric and when it's 100 degrees out, I doubt anyone is going to care about some wrinkles. I think it can look beautiful. The benefits far outweigh the wrinkles in my opinion.

This top is slightly boxy, but still flattering on my petite frame. The short sleeves can be cuffed for an even more casual look. I'm wearing size XS and it fits well. I prefer wearing this open as a layering piece over a tank.

I was very curious about the Mid Rise Relaxed Painter Pull On Pant. I could not tell if they were barrel leg or not from the stock photos and they kind of are. Not as accentuated as some other pants I've seen, but it definitely has that silhouette. I'm not a huge fan of the barrel look to be honest. The length of these are a tad short. The inseam measures 24.5 inches in the petite length.

I'm wearing size Petite XS and they run a little large. I also bought size Petite XXS in black to compare (coming later in the post). I did love the stretch in the waistband. I found it to be very comfortable and these are mid rise and hits right at the belly button.

Fairly skater looking from the back.

I've reviewed this top recently, but wanted to show a few more photos. I really love the drape of this top. It's an oversized tee, which is so simple but Banana Republic really hit it out of the park with this one. I just love the drape. Looks very effortlessly chic. I'm also wearing the same Mid Rise Relaxed Painter Pull On Pant in Black. I'm wearing size Petite XXS and the fit is a little better, but still to short. They are a little too snug around my hips, but the waist was fine. There is one huge con about these pants. If you have pets, the hair will stick to these pants like a lint roller. 😂 That's the main reason why I returned both pairs. Not pet friendly at all.

When I went to return the pants, the store had the Lightweight Cashmere Short Sleeve Sweater Polo but in the beige/black color. I'm eyeing the Dusty Rose with the dark green stripe. It's definitely on my wish list. I'm wearing size extra small and it's fitted but not too tight. It's a very lightweight cashmere and I think would look amazing with a blazer or a chunky cardigan.

As I walked around the store, this vest caught my eye. I usually don't like stripes on me, but maybe this is something I need to reconsider! Let me know in the comments if you like stripes or don't like stripes in your wardrobe.

In the photo below are some of the men's linen shirts. If you haven't felt these in person, you have to! Even Jared was impressed and he says once he loses ten more pounds, he will let me revamp his entire wardrobe! We'll definitely hit up Banana Republic.

That pink cotton t-shirt below? I touched it and the quality feels so amazing. It's thick but very soft. Would love to see this on Jared. And yes, he would wear pink, he doesn't care. 😆 I can basically dress him up like a doll. Don't tell him I said that! That's it for me! Hope you all have a fab weekend if you're celebrating Labor Day! Enjoy the last days of summer! Stick around for some major sales happening.

  1. I’ve always loved BR clothes. Own many work dresses and linen tops and shorts. I also love their jeans. Their clothes last forever. BR quality is truly underrated IMHO

    1. Hi there, I totally agree with you. It's been a while since I shopped at BR regularly. They've def caught my eye this past year. I've mainly bought their linen and some cotton tees. Their cotton is just so good!

  2. I like having stripes in my wardrobe. I do sometimes find it hard to match with other things depending on the piece. For example, I had a really cute white and very dark navy cardigan and it seemed like no matter what I put with it, I wasn't happy with the pairing. Other navy's weren't the right shade, red was too 4th of July, purple and pink just looked odd, gray was meh. I ended up donating it. The vest reminds me of that cardigan. It's so cute, but for me, I know I'd struggle to be happy with a pairing. I do love a striped dress or tee though!

Banana Republic really does make a lot if nice things. I enjoy going in there to look around. And sometimes, I giggle to myself about what a high end store it's become. I might be dating myself here, but anyone remember when it was a jungle themed shop with a broke down jeep and a sea of silly t-shirts? I vaguely remember visiting a friend who worked there and they were wearing some kind of safari hat. BR has come a long way!! LOL

    1. Hi Stacy! Thanks for de ifnluencing me on the stripe vest! LOL. I can see how it would be very limited to what you can pair it with. I am thinking just jeans and beige. Not too versatile.

I vaguely remember the Safari days of BR. I mainly started noticing BR in the mid 90s. Always remembered how soft and comfy their tees were!

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
