This Week's Discussion - Lululemon Price Increase and Newport RI with a Surprise!

Happy Friday! If you read my blog regularly, you know that my Friday posts are themed “Fit Review Friday” but unfortunately with the traveling my husband and I have been doing, I haven’t had time to order anything or visit a store long enough for store try-ons.

But I will admit that Lulu’s latest offerings haven’t left me feeling inspired. Add to that the price increase which Lululemon introduced with this week’s drop, I’m starting to question if what Lulu offers is worth the price. I’m totally aware that price and value are subjective and that I spend more money on bags than nearly any of my friends are willing to spend, but there is something disheartening about not being wow’d by what Lululemon is offering and seeing price increases even before the tariffs hit. What’s going to happen if/when tariffs do take place? I’m curious if anyone else is feeling this way and if so, has another brand piqued your interest? Please let me know in the comments if you've found a Lululemon replacement.

Cutest blonde baby bunny!

I know I covered our time and anniversary in Boston already, but we also went to Newport, RI. Most of Jared’s family had left NYC and half of them moved to Newport, which is just an hour or so from Boston, so we spent some time with them. Their backyard was filled with bunnies and there were two baby blonde bunnies. Super adorable. Side note- I did visit Lululemon while in Newport and the store is so small.

Mother
(Yes, that's the name of the place and it's SO good.)

If you haven’t seen my YouTube short, I got a really pleasant surprise while in Newport. The wife of Jared’s uncle used to be friends with the wife of a former CEO of Coach and she would be gifted Coach bags from the early 2000s. His uncle’s wife really isn’t into purses, so most of these bags just sat in her closet. A few of them are still brand new! Knowing that I’m into bags, I was shown the collection she had and I offered to help sell them for her. She did say if I wanted to keep any of the bags for myself, I could. The only one that would tempt me is the ostrich Legacy tote! Photos to come. I didn't have any room to bring them with me on the airplane, so they shipped them in a giant box and it just arrived. There are seven bags total (I think) and I will be listing them on Poshmark and Ebay. I'll post an update when the bags are live.

That's it for me, hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. I'm glad to see you had fun while travelling with your hubby. I loved the picture of the wee bunny, and that pizza looks SO good!

I am in agreement with your "Lulu apathy". Aside from the shoes (which I wear daily and love), I haven't really been too excited about any of the new stuff for quite some time. I think I've complained about this before, but I'm bored with all the releases of their usual stuff, but just in slightly different colors. I get it: it's their tried and true styles, but I don't need multiples of Swiftly Tees or Define Jackets. As for the new styles they've been offering, I think it is being geared to the younger crowd. I mostly look at accessories and shoes on the site now. And as for workout clothes, I'm finding I reach for other brands more often now, because they're more comfortable and, to be honest, they're more flattering, in my opinion.

And I hear you about the price increases. I've hit my limit with what I'm willing to spend. I'm finding even the WMTM prices on some items are still too high for my comfort-level and budget. Athleta's prices are creeping up as well, but at least they have sales quite often.

    1. Hi Lola! I just ordered a pair of Beyondfeel shoes in Twilight Rose. It randomly came back in stock in my size! I hope it fits. I think we're all a bit bored with the same styles just in new colors week after week. Hard to believe the only thing I bought from Lulu this year so far has been a pair of Hotty Hots! Athleta has gotten more of my money this year but overall my spending on clothing has gone down a lot. I really like Varley but only purchased one item so far. They are even more expensive than Lulu!

    2. You'll have to let us all know how you like the Beyondfeels. I think that's the only style I haven't tried (I'm so not a runner, lol!). I'd love a pair of shoes in Twilight Rose!

    3. Hi Lulu! I definitely will. It's on the way and should be delivered sometime this week. =)

  2. I can’t wait to see the pics of those Coach bags!

  3. I miss the old LLL which used to have more interesting designs and unique details. Instead of seeing the same Scuba Hoodie in different colors, why can’t they come out with something like the Pleat to Street Hoodie, Karmacollected Jacket or the Cozy Cuddle Up Jacket? Nearly ten years later I’m still loving my Audrey Jacket, Apres Run Anorak, Apres the Practice Anorak, the Apres It All Jacket and the first generation Dance Studio Pants which fit way better than the new version.

I’m not that excited about new LLL releases anymore, but I still think that they have the coolest bags.

    1. Hi Andrea! Totally agree with everything you said. I miss the unique details. Now it's just so boring every week. I have been looking at their accessories/bags mainly. I also purchased a pair of shoes to try! While I am not buying their clothing anymore, I'm not abandoning Lululemon completely.

  4. I agree too. Some of their designs were more unique and special in the past. About the price increases, nobody likes that but to be the devil’s advocate if you look at other brands like vuori, Patagonia, arctetyx , alo, and even Nike sometimes they’re all more expensive. Is it because their quality and design is better? Cindy

    1. Hi Cindy! I'm not very familiar with those brands except for Vuori. I think I would shop at Vuori more if they offered petite sizing.

  5. Wow that pizza looks sooo good! I hope you had the most amazing time. I think the price increases are too off putting for me. I don’t buy from LLL these days but do like to look sometimes. I got my granny the slouchy shoulder bag 6L and she loves it

    1. Hi Janessa! I really haven't bought much from Lulu this year at all. I think I only kept 2 items. Pair of shorts and possibly the new shoes I ordered that should be arriving tomorrow! Will write up a review if I keep them.

I do like their bags! Some of them are really nice.

  6. I agree with you about the price hikes and repeats of the same stuff in different colors. If I didn't work there, I think I would have lost more interest. I still have my eye out for new styles that are unique to my closet but definitely don't need more of the same thing. Employees get a hefty discount on markdowns, so that's pretty much all I buy now.

Please post a review on the Beyondfeels! They are my most comfortable shoe for work + Barry's.

    1. Hi LZ! The discount would definitely tempt me!

Will do, the shoes are supposed to arrive tomorrow, but we'll see if that's true. Shipping takes forever these days.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
