So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.
The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels.

I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large, but that's okay since I wear thick socks. I couldn't decide between Chestnut and Sand and finally went with Sand because I wanted a more neutral color.

Let's take a close up look at these shoes.
It feels nicely padded and will keep your feet warm. It's been chilly in Atlanta, so I have been wearing these quite often on the weekends while I get my steps in. They look very cute with sweatpants and joggers. The bottoms do not have a lot of traction so I would not wear them in the rain.
The upper is made of suede and mesh canvas. The tongue is padded and these come with two sets of laces. I prefer the plaid laces as it gives it a more interesting look. The shoes are comfy but does not have a whole lot of arch support. I think 4 miles is the most I would walk in these. It's definitely a casual walking shoe.
Did you know there are two different UGG companies? What do you think of this? I'm still in shock! ReplyDeleteJust checked the biggest Canadian shoe retailer's website and they are actually carrying the American UGG brand. The UGG Classic Short II Boot does use genuine sheepskin upper and pure wool insole. Some boot styles, however, use "UGGplush insole", faux fur and "200g insulation, DryTech Technology".
I've never owned a pair of UGG.

Hi Andrea! I've owned a bunch of UGGs back when I lived in New York all from the American company. I still have one pair left. They actually do feel really nice, but they're also about 13 years old. I am very curious to now try the real thing from Australia. I have noticed in recent years the American company has declined in quality. Seems like they use genuine sheepskin but faux fur. But yes, they are very misleading! Shady...

I guess at one point it was really made in Australia since EMU supplied them? It's somehow all inter-related.

ReplyDeleteI have boots, sneakers, sandals. I checked and all of mine have the big G in the middle so all are American. My boots are leather and sheepskin (the real stuff) though.
Hi there. They do not, they ship from Australia to the US, shipping is free if your order is over $300 AUS which is roughly $200 USD. It's a very small business apparently.
