It's A Wrap! Best Purchases of 2024!

I can't believe 2024 is pretty much over. Not going to lie, this year was hard for me. Especially the last half of the year. In July I lost my grandma who was like a mother to me. So, I did a lot of therapy shopping. Like A LOT. Mostly on bags. Retail therapy at it's finest. I decided for 2025, I really want to cut back on the purchases. And I'll kick off January with a hard spending freeze. Some people need a Dry January, I need a No Spend January. I really want to be more selective in 2025 and onwards. Do I really need it? Probably not. And I know my blog is all about reviews. I'll still review items. I just have to find a balance. Maybe I visit stores more often to do try-ons. I'll figure it out.

Here are my best purchases from 2024. Definitely leave me a comment below on what your favorite purchases were from 2024.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall.

Not in any particular order, we will start with the best pair of jeans I ever bought. One of my goals for 2024 was to find a pair of jeans that were as comfortable as my Vuori joggers. The winner goes to Mother Denim. They come in petite sizes and the fit is hard to beat. I have three pairs and wear them on the weekends when I'm not wearing my joggers.

The best item I bought for the office goes to Frank & Eileen's Dublin Blazer. It's super comfy, feels like your favorite sweatshirt, but totally fit for the office. It's casual enough that I would wear it on the weekends as well.

Now that I'm in my 40s, I really try to practice self care as much as time allows. I bought these collagen hand masks to try and love them. They really do make my hands feel softer and gives them a boost for a day or so that makes them look great for my Youtube videos. 😅 I wear them for 30 minutes while I watch a tv show. Totally worth it.

The best Allbirds shoe purchase for this year goes to Tree Gliders. They're a great everyday walking shoe and I love the natural white/beige colorway. They go with everything.

Best summer hoodie goes to Athleta's Retroterry Hoodie. I bought two and wore them a lot. It's the perfect lightweight hoodie and super comfortable for those summer days when you want a thin layer.

Favorite all around hoodie still goes to Aviator Nation's 5 Stripe Hoodie. I purchased a few this year, they are just so comfortable and cozy. I will wear them until they fall apart.

Best tank top goes to Athleta's Essential Tank. I wore these all summer long and now that it's colder, I still wear them as a layer underneath cardigans and blazers. I hope Athleta brings them back next year.

Best jacket for this year goes to Athleta's Aire Puffer Jacket. It's great for mild winters here in the south. It doesn't get super freezing so I don't usually need anything too bulky and I don't really want to look like the Michelin man. 😆

You may have noticed that there's not a lot of Lululemon items on my list. I do wear my Hotty Hot Shorts and Ebb To Street Crop Tanks every single week. About 4 to 5 times a week. But I have so many that I don't really need new workout clothes. I do love their Softstreme items, especially their Softstreme Wide Leg Cropped Pants and I wear those every week to the office, but other than that, I didn't reach for any new Lululemon items as much as I thought I would when I made the purchase. Maybe I will write a post on 2024 Regrets? However, I am glad I picked up two more Scuba Plush Hoodies. They're my heavier hoodies for colder days.

And now, time for my favorite category, handbags! Here are my favorites for the year. These are also some of my most carried bags. I will probably do a separate post and go into more detail on this topic.

Best summer tote goes to Lululemon's Two Tone Canvas Tote 4.5L. I used this bag easily a couple times a week all summer long. Such an easy bag to carry and super comfortable.

Best summer crossbody goes to Louis Vuitton's Keepall 25. This is actually my most used bag the entire year. I purchased it in March and I used it over 60 times. Which is A LOT for me, considering how many bags I own. This is probably my best purchase of 2024.

The best quiet luxury bag goes to The Row's Slouchy Banana Bag. The runner up goes to the Margaux 12. The Row makes the best minimalist high-end luxury handbags.

The best carryall goes to Coach's Empire 40. I've always been a Coach fan ever since they released their Rogue line. The Empire 40 is their new "it" bag and it is such a great tote when you need to carry a lot of things. It sort of reminds me of a Mary Poppins bag but more chic. 😆

I have to mention Snoopy, my Tiny Terror. He's super sweet when he's the only kitty around, but when he's with the gang he gets wild. He's like a rowdy teenager. But I love him to death. I'm going to keep calling him my sweet boy. It'll eventually become true!

Hi everyone. Leslie's husband here.

So this list is Leslie's best purchases and I wouldn't feel that it was complete without telling you about the Mother's Day gift she got me. (Yes, she gets me a gift on Mother's Day as a joke, since I do the cooking and a decent amount of the cleaning).  Now you should know that I'm not easy to shop for. I spend a lot of time doing research for months before I make a decision. I've been eyeing a set of headphones for probably about a year, but I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. So Leslie decided to pull the trigger for me.

What you're looking at are the Meze Audio 109 Pro headphones and these are fking amazing. Firstly, I like beautiful and pretty things (it's one of the reasons why I married Leslie) and these are gorgeous. I love the subtle gold accents and the dark wood that surrounds the cups. The look and the craftsmanship is just amazing and they're so light and comfortable. But as amazing as they look, they sound incredible. Like, I honestly can't imagine how much better more expensive headphones can sound. I know you're not here for audiophile jibber-jabber, but I've mainly been listening to songs that are 20 or more years old that I loved as a kid and I'm hearing things that I never noticed before and it's like experiencing these songs for the first time again and I love it.

Previously, I'd play video games with my friends each night, but when Leslie's job required her to get up earlier to get to the office, I traded video games for 2 hours each night of just diving into music and I look forward to it each night. It's the part of the day that I look forward to the most. Just sitting on the couch, with the lights dimmed, covered in our cats and listening to music. It's an amazing way to end my day each day. I keep telling Leslie that no gift has ever been as great as these headphones and I'm not sure there is anything that will ever top these. One thing to note is that these are open back headphones, meaning people will hear what you're listening to and you can hear people around you, so the ideal use case for these are for when you're at home or someplace private. I do bring these with me when I head home to NYC and use them in my hotel room each night. They're just that amazing. That's it for me, now back to Leslie.

If you made it this far, let me know in the comments what your favorites are and if you agree with any of mine! That's it for me, hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Only 5 more sleeps to go! 👀

  1. I love the retroterry sweatshirt from Athleta and have it in navy, but they don’t have it on their website anymore. I wish I had an opportunity to buy it in other colors; I don’t feel that the other sweatshirts they are currently carrying are an improvement. My husband just bought a beautiful small black Loewe puzzle bag for me. I have been wanting this bag for years! And I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had any time to enjoy it! It’s still sitting in the bag the store packed it in on my dresser.

    1. Hi Julie! Yes, I love the Retroterry line. I Hope they bring it back. You can find some on Ebay and Poshmark. Ohhhh the Loewe Puzzle bag is niiiiiice! The bag and your husband are both keepers. =D I love it in the tan. You should take it out! Bags are meant to be used. Enjoy her.

  2. Hi Leslie,
Can’t believe 2024 is coming to an end. Time certainly flies!

This year I’ve definitely spent more money at Athleta than Lululemon. My best purchases include Athleta’s Seasoft Straight Leg Pant (got it in four colors!) and Jetset Bomber in Black and Abalone Grey; Lululemon’s Wunder Puff Jacket in gorgeous Oil Grey (in addition to two Iridescent ones I got in the last two years), Always Effortless Jacket in Taupetastic and Oil Grey, as well as Quilted Grid Tote Bag 12 L in Black. I tend to buy multi colors if I find something I like. ^_^

I’m also planning to be more selective in 2025 cos I don’t really NEED anything. That being said, I will still enjoy reading your blog and try to resist all the temptations lol!

Thanks for another year of great work, Leslie. I love your blog and appreciate all the fit reviews, suggestions and great advice. I also love reading comments from the other readers and it’s like a small community. Here’s wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and all the best in 2025!

    1. Hi Andrea! Every year just keeps going by faster. =(

I haven't totaled out the numbers yet, but I think it might be close, but Lulu will probably win because they cost more. I probably purchased more items from Athleta, would be my guess.

Yes! I love Athleta's Seasoft Straight Leg Pants too. I'm sad that they no longer offered cropped lengths. Lulu seems to be heading in the same direction. Will have to hold onto the ones I have forever.

You have a nice little collection of Wunder Puffs! I only have the vest from last year.

Yes! You can join me in being more selective in 2025 and onwards. It will be an interesting challenge for sure.

So glad you're still around, I really appreciate your support after so many years. Merry Christmas Andrea! Cheers to 2025!

  3. I've spent all my money on Aritzia this year and only a little on LLL. More gifts from LLL than for myself. I need to be on a January no buy too. I know there will be plenty of sales cause they do that every year... I must resist...

My favorite tops: square neck tank (waist length), little ribbed tee, boyfriend 1/4 zip, polartec thermal pro mockneck vest.

Aritzia favorite pants: sweatfleece mega cargo pants, Baby Waffle (flare) pants, Butter flare leggings (their active line). My favorite Aritzia pants I bought this year are the Supply Cargos and Picture Cargo pants.

Most worn shoes are my Docs in Church Monkey Quad (platform) and Nike Air Max 1 for sneaker.

My favorite tennis skirt out of all my athletic wear collection are my Alo Varsity Tennis skirt and LLL High Rise Pleated skirt (I prefer Alo for the looser waistband and less tight shorts).

Wow those headphones look stunning and wow no wonder looking up the price xD.

    1. Hi Janessa! Wow! I know you love your Aritzia. We can do a No Buy January together. We got this!

I wish Aritzia was more petite friendly. How tall are you?

I told my hubby what you said about the headphones and we both laughed. They are seriously pricey and he also bought switched out the cord for $250 because he liked the rose gold copper color and it draped better than the ones it came with lol!

  4. Thank you for another year of great posts and reviews! You always put such hard work into your site (and now YouTube videos) and I always look forward to checking them out!

My favorite purchase of YOURS for 2024 was that Year of the Dragon Coach bag. I just love it so much!

As for me, I too made more purchases at Athleta than Lulu. I haven't totaled it up (and I'm not going to), but it was a big retail therapy year for me too. I will join you in the No Buy January.

My favorite purchases that I made in 2024 were a faux fur jacket and moto leggings from Buffbunny, the Endeavor Pant from Athleta, the Scuba Plush from Lulu, and some Butter Volley Sports Bras from Aritzia. Those are seriously the best sports bras I've ever tried, hands down. By the way, Leslie, some of Aritzia's pants are available in a short inseam. I'm looking at a pair of cargos right now, and the website says the short length is 27 1/4. Might be doable....

Happy Holidays to you and everybody in this petite community :)

    1. Hi Lola! Thank you so much for your support! Always appreciate you stopping by and leaving a comment.

That Lunar Dragon Rogue is pretty awesome. It's so pretty. I just didn't use it as much as my other bags.

Yay- more the merrier for No Buy January! I'm actually looking forward to a reset.

Wow, Artizia is getting a lot of love. I guess I should check them out again in 2025. 27 inches might be okay if it's a jogger. If you do try the cargos, let me know how it goes.

Happy Holidays to you and your family!

    2. Also all my aritzia cotton pants shrink length wise in the wash!! I purposefully dry them on low heat/ sometimes medium heat once. And so 27” will be like 25.5-26” but that is a risk… all my sweatfleece and waffle pants have shrunk easily over an inch to two over the years -Janessa

    3. Oh wow, that's good to know. I'll check them out!! Cuz sounds like the length could work for me if it shrinks.

  6. I really enjoyed reading your site this year, so much thought and effort is put into all the posts and I really enjoyed the variety from meal service reviews, clothes, to the bags. Glad you came out of 2024 relatively well despite all you went through.

My favourite purchase of yours is probably the Margeaux due to the beautiful color. My own favourite purchase is probably the down for it all jacket in black yet again…

I really need to join no buy January as I have a pair of Nike Air Max 270 that has not seen outside of the box yet 😬 another example that I don’t really need anything.

Happy holidays to you and all the other readers who contribute comments I also enjoy reading! Wishing you all a wonderful 2025.

An oldie is always a goodie! If the jacket is your go-to, always good to have a back up. Yes! Please join me in a no buy January. I'm pretty excited for it actually. It'll be good for us.

I have a few things in my closet that still have tags. You're not alone!

Here's to 2025! Happy holidays to you. =)

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Review! Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Size Small Plus Video

You all know I love my bags, and as a Balenciaga collector, I don't often stray from the City and First style. The Rodeo (pronounced like Rodeo Drive) really caught my eye. It gives off a slouchy Hermes Kelly vibe, but way more practical to use.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall. Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Small The Rodeo can be carried a few ways. It comes with a crossbody strap that is not adjustable but it is removable. Not sure why anyone wouldn't add a few extra holes to make a strap adjustable these days. Come on Balenciaga! Do better! The top handle is a bit too long for this to work anyhow, I feel like the top handle gets in the way. It sticks out and doesn't sit well in my opinion. I wouldn't carry this bag crossbody unless it was an unforeseen emergency and I really needed my hands free. This bag looks more chic carried by the handle or crook of the arm. It also looks nice left open with the help of the flap tucked in. The Rodeo resembles the Kelly bag ...

Review! Lululemon's Large Everywhere Belt Bag Size Comparison Plus Video!

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's almost Halloween! I actually have a dentist appointment on Halloween. One of my molars chipped and needs to be filled in. It's a tiny chip that I didn't even notice until my dentist pointed it out to me during my last visit. I'm not looking forward to it at all since I will need local anesthesia. Anyway, today I have a belt bag size comparison review for you all! For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.
