Fit Review Friday! Athleta Retroterry Mid Rise Jogger, Retroterry High Rise Short, Retreat Linen Ankle Pant, Retreat Linen Short, Endless Cargo Pant
Hi everyone! Earlier in the month when I reviewed the Retroterry Hoodie, the matching jogger was on backorder. It finally arrived last week. I also stopped by the store for some try-ons as well.
For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size PXS in Athleta.
These joggers are super soft and sizing is generous. I'm wearing size PXS and it does feel a little big. The length measures 25.5" and these are loose fit in the leg and tapers slightly at the ankle. I'm used to a tighter cuff at the ankle like my Vuori Performance Joggers, and the cuffs on the Retroterry Jogger are much bigger.
These may not be the most flattering jogger I've had, but they remind me of Athleta's Farallon Jogger without the large front pockets. The fabric is soft French terry. The waistband sits right underneath my belly button.
I do love the color, it's a pale blue/gray. I also took a few photos of the set together, so you can see how it looks. It's a very casual lounge set. I don't think I'd wear both pieces out together though. I've already worn the hoodie a few times and it's a great spring/summer hoodie. I haven't worn the joggers out yet, but I have a feeling it'll be a stay-at-home piece for me.
I had high hopes for the Retroterry High Rise Short since I love the hoodie and jogger, but these did not fit well. They were just too big in the thigh. They're very wide and not flattering. Maybe if I sized down to XXS it would have looked better but the store didn't have XXS in stock. If you're looking for shorts to wear around the house, I could see these filling that need but honestly, you could find something cheaper elsewhere.
I am super happy to see linen pieces again! Living in Hotlanta, I look forward to buying a couple of linen pieces to refresh my summer wardrobe. I am looking for a pair of linen pants this year, and was hoping these would do the trick, but sadly I did not like how these felt. The linen itself was fine, it wasn't overly soft but it was soft enough.
However, I really did not like the seam that runs down the front of the pant. I could really feel it against my thigh and it bothered me so much. Maybe it's something you can get used to, but I wasn't going to test that theory. Otherwise, the XXS fit well, but the length was just a smidge too long. If I did like this I would have ordered my usual Petite XS.
Now, these shorts were amazing! Love the fit and the color. This is Pyrite and it's a brown/beige neutral that would work nicely for summer. Inseam measures 4 inches long and it hits mid-thigh. These are mid-rise and size XS fit well, not too tight, not too loose.
I love the zippered pockets! I can't wait to wear these out and about. I took this one home. They are super comfortable. Just in case you were wondering, these do not have the front seam that the pants do.
I love the natural, texture of linen.
Last but not least we have the Endless High Rise Cargo Pant. I'm wearing size 0 and these were tight in the waist on me. This is the regular length and the inseam is too long. If I were to order these online in petite sizing I think I would try Petite 2.
These pants have an adjustable hem at the cuff. There is a button tab to tighten or loosen the cuff. You can style these to make them look more like a jogger versus a pant.
I am a fan of the cargo trend, but I think these are a little too busy with the zippered pocket sitting right above the cargo pocket. The color Granite Blue looks a lot like Lululemon's Iron Blue.
That's it for me! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! If you are interested in placing an order and looking for a coupon code, try GYM20 for 20% off your purchase over $150. It worked for me on the Seasoft Bubble Hem Full Zip Hoodie.

The retro terry joggers and shorts just didn’t look flattering for some odd reason, perhaps the cut was meant to be relaxed and generous? I am inspired to look into cargo pants next, it’s something I don’t currently have in my wardrobe and looks like a nice change from my usual 😊
ReplyDeleteHi AC! Agree, the cut is very generous on both. I debated on returning the joggers, but they are comfy so I'll likely keep them. I am a fan of the cargo look. I have one pair from Vuori - also a jogger and they're very relaxed as well, but I like them a lot.
Deletehi Leslie! Thank you so much for this fit review! I've been eyeing the Endless High Rise Cargo Pant in Granite Blue, so I appreciate your review on sizing. I think our waist is about the same, so if size 0 is a tad tight for you, I'll should go with Petite 2 as well! Have a happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen! Oh if you try the Endless Cargo Pant, let me know what you think of them. It's a nice weight too.
DeleteI haven't tried Athleta stuff lately but I do like seeing your try ons so I can compare to LLL! (: -janessa
ReplyDeleteHi Janessa! I have to agree, not much from Athleta speaks to me this season. I guess my wallet is happy about that!
DeleteThanks for the fit review, Leslie!
ReplyDeleteThe Endless High Rise Cargo Pant looks cute on you and I think you should give size 2P a try. Granite Blue is such a lovely color and I got it in the Wide Leg Avenue Pant and Attitude Pant.
Based on one of your previous fit reviews, I sized up, ordered the Seasoft Crewneck Sweatshirt in Coastline Blue size XS and love how it fits! Your fit reviews really helped me picking the right size. From your pictures I knew size XXS would be too short on me so I took your size and it is perfect. Thank you so much!
I’ve been spending more money at Athleta especially in the bottoms department (yay to petite sizing), and I can see myself buying less and less from LLL unless they come out with more interesting designs.
Hopefully we will be seeing an interesting upload from LLl tomorrow.
Andrea
Hi Andrea! I am considering ordering the 2P in the Endless HR Cargo Pant. I agree, Granite Blue looks so good.
DeleteYAY! So glad my review helped you out with the correct sizing. Happy to hear you like it! I actually spent a small chunk on Lululemon this month, which is more than the first three months of the year. I'll have a really good fit review Friday coming up.
