Fit Review Friday! Store Try Ons! Softstreme Hoodie, Silk Blend Crewneck Sweater, and Lightweight Mid Rise Barrel Legged Cropped Pant

Happy Friday! Quick question for you, do you prefer store try-on reviews or my usual reviews at home? Or do you like both? I can pump out store try-on posts more quickly, but the downside is I won't be able to take fit requests and the photos aren't as nice. On the other hand, placing orders take a while to arrive and then I have to wait until the weekend to take photos. It's a much longer process but the photos are better quality. Let me know what you think.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.

You all know I love Softstreme, so I had to try the Softstreme Hoodie in Grape Thistle. The store did not have my usual size 4, so this is a size 2. It still fits, but I do feel the length is a little shorter than I would prefer. It also has a boxy shape which doesn't help either. But I love the color and fabric. The sleeves are a tad long. I think it is a great transitional piece for Spring and Fall. Very cute and comfy, but I think I'll wait for it to go on WMTM.

Next up, we have the Silk Blend Crewneck Sweater, which a few of you were curious about. I'm wearing size XS. It's a relaxed fit crewneck sweater I could see myself wearing to the office, but I would go with the Light Ivory color. The Blue/White/Yellow Wisp gives a more casual vibe, while the Light Ivory looks very professional and sharp. I kind of wish there were more than two colors to choose from though.

Size XS

The fabric is a blend of silk and cotton and it is very soft. It's a light to medium weight sweater and the horizontal ribbing has a lot of stretch. The wrist cuff and hem have a bright blue trim that makes this sweater stand out a bit more over the Light/Ivory.

Size XS hits right at the hip on my petite frame. The sleeves are the perfect length. It's very petite friendly and I highly recommend this sweater. The store didn't have the Light/Ivory in stock but I think that's the color to get, even though it lacks the contrast trim that the blue color has.

Last but not least we have the Lightweight Mid Rise Barrel Legged Cropped Pant in Taupetastic. I'm wearing my usual size 4.

This is a cropped length and the inseam measures 26 inches. Even though these are supposed to be mid-rise pants, the waistband went over my belly button. For me, I would consider these high-rise. They are borderline wide-leg pants on me.

I found the waist to be true to size, but the elastic waistband did not have a lot of stretch. The back of these are not flattering. They make my butt look pretty flat with all the extra fabric. 😐 Pants are made of super lightweight Swift fabric and perfect for warmer temperatures.

I did not take anything home from this trip, but I am waiting to see if the two tops I tried on will make it to WMTM. Let me know what you think!

  1. Hi Leslie,
I love both your store try-on reviews and usual reviews at home.

Quite often by the time you did a fit review at home, popular items were no longer available in my size. :( If it’s not too inconvenient for you to do store try-ons once in a while, we can see new products as soon as they are released and have a better chance of getting them before they are sold out.

Thank you for all the hard work, Leslie!

    Andrea

    1. Hi Andrea! That's what I hear, which makes me sad that my reviews are often too late. I will definitely try and stop by the store more often! Thank you for sticking around. =D

  2. Hi Leslie! I too like both types of your fit reviews, but I do agree with Andrea that it's nice to see the new stuff right away before it sells out. The home reviews give a better idea of fit and color, though. I appreciate both!

That being said, thank you for your latest try--ons. I have been wondering about the Barrel-Leg Pants for a while. I really like that Taupetastic color, but I'm going to pass on that style. The u-shaped seam on the back looks kind of weird to me. But I love that Purple Thistle Hoodie. I'm trying to be patient for WMTM as well. Athleta just marked down a bunch of stuff that I've been eyeing, so I might place an order.

    1. I was just coming to comment the same about the u-shaped back seam on the pants. It's so weird, and I'm not sure whom it would flatter. The rest of the pants look nice on you, though, Leslie! A barrel leg cut is a hard thing to pull off. They always remind me of a bow-legged cowboy...

I tried on (and brought home) the Align Cross-back Bodysuit last night. It is so much more comfortable than the regular bodysuits with the built-in bra. I went with my usual Align Pant size 2 vs my Align Tank size 6.

I like both types of reviews but agree with the others that in-store are nice in case we want to grab it while it's still in stock. You can also find new things in-store that aren't online, too! Thanks for the reviews and have a nice weekend!

    2. Hi Lola! The Barrel Leg pants remind me of a distant cousin to MC Hammer pants LOL. Ah did Athleta have mark downs today? I have to go look!

    3. Hi LZ! Agreed, don't know what they were thinking with the design on the back of the pants. Bow-Legged Cowboy made me laugh!

I guess I will be visiting the stores more often! Thanks for your feedback on the Align Cross-back Bodysuit. Good to know to go with the bottom sizing vs the top.

    4. The Keys stuff went on markdown, so I ordered the Retroplush Pants to try. They were still pricier than I would have liked, but I cashed in some points to make it more palatable :).

    5. Ahhh, let me know how you like the Keys Pant. I noticed they dropped a new Retroplush Full zip hoodie that I am interested in!

    6. Logistically it makes sense to do more in store, you don’t have to go through the annoying returns process! Pass on the barrel leg pants, not sure who it would be flattering on. The silk blend crew neck sweater looks nice and would probably be at home with all the other gray knit sweaters in my closet! The down for it all jacket is pretty tempting but not exactly in that color.

    7. HI AC! Yes, the store actually makes things a lot easier for me. The photos just aren't that great with a mirror. I actually like the Silk Blend Tank Top, but wish it wasn't a mock neck.

  3. I like both types of reviews as well! I really look forward to your new posts. Thank you for doing them. As for the barrel pants, they don’t even look flattering on the models. I’m surprised they’re not on wmtm already. Maybe they’re popular with the very young crowd? The silk blend sweater is available on the Canadian site in both Colors on wmtm now. It’s very tempting. They finally restocked the dance studio pants in the short length in true navy. I ordered those to try. Will let you know how that goes. Eyeing the dark red HH shorts too. 💸💸💸

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
