Coach Review - Rae Tote (Re)Loved

I've been obsessing over blue colors lately. Coach makes a lovely medium blue called Dark Denim and most of you know by now that I buy most of my bags pre-loved. It's a great way to score some nice bags for a lot less. I was curious to check out Coach's (Re)Loved section on their website where you can trade in your Coach bags. Coach restores the bag to their original condition (as best as they can). Some of the bags are upcafted with added embellishments. I went with the Rae Tote because of the color and minimalistic design.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall.

Color - Dark Denim
Measurements:
  • Length: 5.5"
  • Height: 13.5"
  • Width: 11.5"

This is a large tote. It's the kind of tote you would carry to the office, especially if you needed to carry your laptop, water bottle, and lunch for the day and you don't want to carry a backpack. The design is lovely. It's very minimalistic with the handles being the main draw to the bag. It's very clever and easier to explain in the video. The handles fold down to line up with the C curve. The handles also fold out or in. It's so simple but also genius.

Comes with a matching leather pouch.

This tote can be worn in a few different ways. You can carry it by the top handle, carry the bag in the crook of your arm, or use the two straps for shoulder carry.

Let's take a closer look at the bag.

The condition of the bag is actually in great shape. The only flaw are two somewhat large scratches on both sides of the bag. You only see the scratches at certain angles in the light. They look to have been deep scratches that Coach tried to buff out. They did a pretty good job, but you can still see it. I can live with light scratches, but deep ones, not so much. The leather is beautiful and polished to a nice sheen.

I just love these handles! They feel like new.

Another angle of the scratch.

I love smooth glovetanned leather, but it is prone to scratches, so you do have to be a little more careful with leather like this.

I took a deep breath and it still has the new leather smell!

The inside of the bag is lined with suede and has two pockets on one side. It also comes with a matching leather zippered pouch. This is a huge tote without any kind of closure. So if you are not okay without a closing mechanism, this bag may not be for you.

I decided to return the bag because of the deep scratches and also because it's quite large and I don't think I would really use it enough. I usually carry a backpack with me to the office and a purse. The one thing I wish Coach would do, is take more photos of the bag with the flaws to prevent returns. Or describe the flaw in the description if they do not want to post more than one photo. That said, I would still consider buying a bag from their (Re)Loved section. I may try one that's been upcrafted. It will be a one of a kind bag.

Scratch on the other side of the tote. This scratch seems a little deeper.

If you would like to see what fits in the bag, check out my video for a full review. If you watch till the end, there's also a short clip of me modeling the tote. That's it for me! I hope you have a fantastic start to the first week of March!

  1. Good for the wallet and environmental! Too bad about the scratches, it’s a hard sell unless the discount is steep. Without a closure it’s beach bag territory but not with suede lining :S the pouch is kind of neat

    1. Hi AC! I wish they would disclose the flaws on the description page. But agreed, price needs to come down a bit more. I love suede linings, but not for the beach lol!

  2. I think the bag is a pretty color, and the handle design is pretty cool, but I agree with you about the scratches; that would be a deal breaker for me too. I would never carry a bag that has no closure either. I'd be too paranoid about losing things.

I didn't realize Coach had a pre-owned section on their website. More and more brands are starting to do this, and I think it's a great idea!

    1. Hi Lola! Yes! I love shopping pre-owned bags. It's the only way I can get my hands on some of the higher end brands. Prices just keep going up and up. (I am starting to sound like my parents) haha.

  3. Love the bag color! But...was more attracted by your top in the modeling photos haha. Love your top, was wondering if you have links for it?

    1. Hi Melody! Thanks, the top is from Athleta. They don't have it on their website anymore, but I do like their tops a lot!

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...
