Raleigh / Fenton North Carolina Trip - Photo Journal

Hope you're all having a nice long weekend for those in the US. I just wanted to post some photos of my business trip to Raleigh, NC. Do I have any readers from there? I toured Fenton which is a brand new mixed use development. It's almost exactly the same as Avalon which is located in Alpharetta, Georgia. I love going there, it's an outdoor shopping area with restaurants and there are some nice residential housing which makes it very walkable. I would love to live in an area like that.

I had to wake up at an ungodly hour of 4am to catch my 7:30am flight. 😩 Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep because I am so paranoid my alarm won't go off. I kept waking up every hour just to check the time. This is my second business trip ever, but the first one going by myself. I don't even know how I managed to make it through. I'm so not an adult ready for this kind of responsibility! 😆

My hotel room was actually kind of meh. The floors were coming up when I walked on it! My coworker said she found a dried up contact lens on her nightstand. 😳 Here's the view from my room.

Fenton!

Yes, there was a Lululemon but I didn't get the chance to go in, we were completely booked with events and activities the entire trip. The below picture is a view of Main Street. There are apartment rentals above the retail spaces. There's even a really nice pool that's being built above Pottery Barn. This is phase one of three. I definitely want to go back when it's all finished which will be around 2030. It's a ten year project. I think it looks great so far.

I went to Colletta's for a girls night out. Funny story, there's a Colletta's at Avalon and for years, every time my husband and I walk by, he would always suggests we try it. It's an Italian restaurant and I'm always like, "Naaaaah, just not feeling it." A couple of weeks ago, one of the construction managers who worked on Fenton came by our office to visit and said, "Yeah there's this amazing Italian restaurant at Fenton you need to try! It's called Colletta." I'm thinking, "Oh crap, Jared is going to be so pissed!" 😂😂😂😂 So, yes, it's really good and I will take Jared to the one at Avalon when I get back from New York.

It is really pretty at night.

The second night we got to go out and explore the area. There's an arcade nearby called The Pit. Played some air hockey for a while, but I suck at playing games so I lost. Then we walked over to a speakeasy where I ordered a glass of water. I am lame, I get the Asian Flush pretty bad. People will come up to me and ask if I'm alright because my face just turns super red. I'm like, I feel fine! One of my coworkers freaked out after I had a glass of champagne and was super concerned I was having some kind of bad reaction. After that I just don't drink anymore.

Off to New York! To Be Continued...

  1. hi Leslie! Thanks for sharing pics from Fenton! 7:30 am flights are tough. I'm glad I don't need to travel for my work. I've never heard of Colletta's before. Is this restaurant a chain? Have a smooth flight to New York!

    1. Hi Karen! I don't think it's a chain, it's just owned by the same people. It probably did well at Avalon, so they reached out to open one up at Fenton.

Thanks, my grandma sure is happy to see me!

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...
