Fit Review Friday! Allbirds Plant Pacers

Happy Friday! This fit review is long overdue. I just wasn't feeling this pair from Allbirds and ended up putting off the review. I've since returned this pair a few months ago, so I'm going off from what I remember most about this shoe.

For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds. For the Plant Pacers I went up to a size 6, however these run large. My recommendation is to size down if you're in-between sizes. I should have ordered a size 5.

When Allbirds first released the Plant Pacers, I was super interested because these are 100% plastic free and marketed as Plant Leather made from natural rubber, plant oils, and agricultural by-products. If you're interested in reading more, there's additional info on their website. They're basically made to feel smooth, similar to pleather. Personally, these did not feel like leather to me. They definitely felt more on the plastic-y side. I didn't find them to be very soft at all, they did not seem forgiving and I do think that these would actually need some break-in time which is so unlike any of my other pairs from Allbirds.

The name of the color is Natural White, but it's not white at all, in the above photo, the shoe has a beige-yellow tint to it. The color is not solid and it almost looks like someone used a pepper shaker over it.

It looks to be made very well, but I do have some concerns. The tongue is on the stiff side and the top of the tongue isn't smooth, it's a bit lumpy along the edges. You can tell in the close-up photo below.

The design of the shoe is stylish but it does have a Sketchers vibe from the early aughts. Anyone else feel this way? While I love the innovation from Allbirds and I commend them for thinking outside the box, this shoe has a lot of potential, but I don't think they're quite there yet. I would like to see some changes made to this Plant Leather, hopefully something a little softer and more comfortable with no break-in time. If you do like the style, the Canvas Pacers might be the way to go. I'm assuming they fit the same as the Plant Pacers, I would size down if you're in-between sizes.

Have you tried the Plant Pacers or the Canvas Pacers? Let me know in the comments! That's it for me. Hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. I don't like the overall look of the shoe. I'm not sure if it's the material, color or overall style, but it's giving me prescription shoe vibes. An easy pass for me. Hopefully, they will update it and try again. I like the idea though.

    1. Same. I think it has a lot of potential, but they need to work on the design a little more.

  2. I was so interested in these at first but the reviews said the material is super stiff. They're also not the cutest shoe for the price so I never got them. The tongue part looks terrible but I don't mind the yellowish color

    1. Hi Janessa, the material is pretty stiff. All in all, the canvas version is probably the better shoe. But I'm still not crazy about the style.

  3. They do look a bit orthopedic.

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
