Fit Review Friday! Athleta Cascade Down Vest, Scuba Oversized Full Zip Hoodie, Scuba Full Zip Hoodie & NYC photos!
Happy Friday! I can't believe it's December. Wasn't it just Halloween?! Today, I'm covering Athleta and Lululemon. I had a really hard time deciding on whether or not to keep the Cascade Down Vest.
For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size PXS in Athleta and size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.

The Cascade Down Vest is meant to be oversized. Lately I've been embracing it because it's just so comfortable and being able to move freely is huge in my book. I've been wanting a longer vest to layer over hoodies and the Cascade Down Vest checked all those boxes. However, it just looks so poofy on my petite frame. I'm wearing size Petite XS.
It's super comfortable and fits easily over Lululemon's Scuba Oversized Full Zip Hoodie and my Aviator Nation hoodies. It looks extra poofy with the Scuba Oversized Hoodie. However, it looks more flattering with the fitted Aviator Nation hoodie.

I really like the length, it hits my upper thighs. The cinch cords at the waist allows you to customize the look. The only thing is, the cords are a little long, it would have been a little more flattering if the cord length was shorter. One of my friends said it reminded her of a sleeping bag. 😆 What do you think?
By the way, I upgraded to the iPhone 14pro and love how easy it is to photoshop myself out of the background! How cool is that? I used to use photoshop all the time back in my college days and doing something like this, with this kind of precision would take me forever! My mind is blown.
I snagged this Scuba Oversized Full Zip Hoodie in Carob Brown from the Black Friday sale. Very pleased with the color! I think it's a really good mix between army green with a hint of brown. I will definitely be reaching for this often. For $89, it's a definite keeper. I will have the rest of my Black Friday haul in the next fit review. I just finished taking photos today and still going through the editing process!
I purchased another Scuba Full Zip in Mulled Wine. I decided the gold detail was too good to pass up. For this Scuba, I like to size up to a 6. Ever since I started wearing an Apple Watch two years ago, I can't stand tight sleeves and tight cuffs. Sizing up resolves that issue and it still looks flattering.
Unfortunately, I purchased this at full price and then it went on markdown for Black Friday. It's okay though, by the time I saw it my size was sold out. I'll be wearing this for the holidays! I know I'll get at least three good months wearing this for December, Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day. 😂

As promised here are some photos from my NY trip. I have to share these cute photos of my grandma. She is 99 years old and I love seeing her laugh. I am so grateful she is still with us. Everyday is a blessing.
My grandma used to make this dish for us, now I have to order it during dim sum. Still pretty good, but not as good as hers! These are fried turnip cakes or called Lo Bak Go.

So this is really bizarre, my parent's neighbor is curing duck or maybe chicken? There was soooo much of it hanging from their yard! The picture doesn't even show all of it.
Went back to the Harry Potter store for the VR rides. There are two rides you can choose from. The Chaos at Hogwarts is the better experience. Would do it again!
This is my mom's Chilean Sea Bass dish that she says is super easy, all you do is steam it with some scallions and ginger. Then you just add soy sauce for seafood.
I can't visit New York without getting chicken feet.

For the poofy vest, I'd say if u have doubts, don't keep it. There'll always be the next one that's better. You r so lucky that u got the OS full zip on MD! I didn't see it on the CDN site at all otherwise I would have gotten it too! For BF online purchases, I only got 3 items this year 😅 - a bra, wunder train team Canada version and the city adventure backpack

Sometimes my husband and I talk about moving back, but I just don't know if it's financially feasible now. Everything is just way too expensive in NY.

ReplyDeleteI love the oversized, poofy look of the vest but the shoulders are way too wide and to me that's a deal breaker. I agree with Blueberries that there will always be the next one that's better, and hopefully cheaper! :D
I didn't get anything from LLL during BF sale, and returned the Scuba Plush Hoodie I got before the sale. The plush is way thinner and didn't give me that luxurious feel I was hoping for. Quite a disappointment.
Did you see the new Allbirds Wool Runner-up Fluffs in Lux Purple? They are so cute and the color is gorgeous!

I just recently got two pairs of shoes from Allbirds and don’t think I would like to invest in another pair for the moment lol, even though the Lux Purple Wool Runner up Fluffs are super cute! <3

ReplyDeleteThe Cascade Down Vest looks cozy, but a little too big on your petite frame. I prefer the Uniqlo vest on you. I like both Scubas though! Carob brown is a nice neutral and the classic fit Scuba is good for layering over longer tops. I don't like it when my shirt is longer than my jacket. Have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteThe mulled wine scuba is a really pretty color. I was tempted to get it, but I have the maroon plush with the gold zipper and a dark red regular one. It felt like I couldn't justify it. But, seeing it on you, I'm regretting it a little. The color is lovely on you and the gold zipper elevates it.
I got a plush scuba in black as a backup to the one I have from the first release of the plushies. The newer one is a heathered black color with a shiny black zipper. The original leans more towards black with some very light touches of heathering and had a gold zipper. I was surprised they were so different. I guess I didn't really look at the photos, I just assumed it was more of the same bring produced. I'm okay with it since it made it feel like I got a new color as opposed to a boring backup, haha!
Hi! We were wondering about the other animals too, but they were quite high up on these racks away from trees and such, so I didn't see any animals trying to climb. And the weather is cold now, near freezing so I guess, not many bugs.

I did hear that this year's heathered black Scuba Plush is different from previous years even though they used the same photos on the website. Disappointing for some, but in your case, it turned out to be a good thing!
Aww granny! My grandma used to make me that too (turnip cakes). I love the vest and really love the puffy look but I have no use for one... So cute! It's oversized but looks flattering still on you
