Athleta Haul Part 2 Balance Waffle Hoodie, Layover Cardigan & Sequoia Sweater + Allbirds Tree Flyers

Happy Monday! This is part 2 of my Athleta haul. Today's the last day to take advantage of 25% off fall stock up sale event.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size PXS or XXS in Athleta. I also wear size 4 in Lululemon tops.

Balance Waffle Hoodie Tinsel Purple Size XXS

This Balance Waffle Hoodie in Tinsel Purple is easily one of my favorite Athleta tops. Super soft and the ribbed hem is silky to touch. I'm wearing size XXS and it fits slightly oversized but still flattering on my petite frame. It was really hard deciding between Tinsel Purple and Borealis Green, but ultimately I do love shades of purple so I went with Tinsel Purple. It's a very pretty neutral and goes with darker grays and even Mountain Olive. I paired it with the Brooklyn Ankle Jogger over the weekend and it was the perfect fall errands outfit.

Here's a close up of the waffle texture. It feels lightweight and soft. Looking forward to layering with a vest when it gets a little older. The sleeves are oversized but not too long. I also appreciate the thumbholes.

The Layover Cardigan is proving to be a best seller, and a good amount of sizes are sold out already in the Magnolia White. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of either color for this cardigan, but I went with Foliage Orange for a pop of color. It's made of a soft merino wool blend and the waffle yarn feels super cozy. I did not find this piece to be itchy at all.

also wearing Venice Jogger in Abalone Gray Size PXS (on sale)

I really do love the waffle knit detail on the back of the cardigan. I'm wearing size XS. The sleeves are a little long, but I cuffed it once and it looks fine. I totally would have kept this cardigan, but wish it came in other colors. The price is $149, which is expensive for a cardigan, but with the 25% code it was more bearable. Please release this in a gray or camel color!

Last but not least we have the Sequoia Sweater in Foliage Orange as well. I am just not a huge fan of black or Magnolia White for tops like this. Actually, this sweater is more like a jacket. The knit is very thick and heavy, albeit very soft and silky. It's a high quality piece and it better be for the price tag of $239. Even with the 25% off sale it was still hard to swallow.

I loved the structure of the jacket with the soft draping of the sleeves. I was not a fan of the neckline though. I wish it had a soft collar instead. I also did not like the contrast of the dark zipper and would have preferred the zipper to blend in a little more when zipped up.

I love the seams on the sleeves and darts on the back of the jacket.

Pockets are a nice touch. Love the ribbed detailing on the sleeves and hem. This is a beautiful and stylish sweater jacket. Wish it had a soft collar and then I would have probably kept it but in a different color.

Overall, I'm very impressed with Athleta's fall pieces this year. The quality and style are amazing. My only gripe is the lack of color options. Each item is only available in a few colors. Athleta needs to up their color game. That's it for me! Hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Here's to a happy Monday!

  1. Athleta has some really beautiful fall pieces. I tried on the Sequoia sweater but found the upper arms too voluminous for my taste. And the arms were too long for me. Sadly it didn’t work out for me but it is a beautiful high-quality item.

I did buy the Layover crew sweater. The balloon sleeves and shorter length give it a modern feel. I chose the sweater over the cardigan because I wanted the pink color. (You’re right, more colors please!) I’m pretty sure I’m combining the sweater with the Lululemon Align joggers for my airplane outfit on Saturday.

    1. Hi there! I was looking at the Layover crew sweater too. The Orchid Pink is really pretty and definitely caught my eye. Your airplane fit sounds cozy and cute! If Athleta releases more colors in these styles I will reconsider.

      Safe travels!

  2. hi Leslie! Thanks for another great fit review! The Balance Waffle Hoodie looks great in Tinsel Purple! I really like it! The Layover cardigan looks petite friendly and the waffle design at the back adds interest. I'd love to see this cardigan in gray, Tinsel Purple or Dusk Violet. The Sequoia sweater looks to be high quality, but the balloon sleeves make the overall shape a little boxy. I think it'll look more flattering in petite sizing. Have a good week!

    1. Hi Karen! Ohhh if the Layover Cardigan came in a purple I would definitely buy it. I might even get it if it was in the Orchid Pink.

  3. Why the crazy price for the Sequoia sweater! ?

    1. It's a very thick and substantial sweater, it's more like a jacket though. But agreed, it's still very pricey even so.

  4. Hi Leslie, it's Cindy. Have you had any luck with the athleta girl tops in terms of sizing? I was interested in the Settle waffle ss. What size do you think you'd take in that one?

    1. Hi Cindy! I have had some luck with the girls tops, usually I would go for the XL for a little room. Sometimes the L will be too tight in the chest for me. I think you're a little smaller than me, so a L might work for you. Just be wary of the sleeves.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
