Fit Review - Allbirds Dreamscape Collection! Tree Flyers and Tree Dasher 2 Plus Video & Store Visit!

I'm super excited about today's review! When Allbirds debuted their Dreamscape Collection, I had to place an order.

For reference my Allbirds size is 5.5 and I ordered the same size for both pairs in this review.

Tree Dasher 2 - Dreamy Green Size 5.5

These are my first pair of Tree Dasher 2. I'm super happy that I waited for a color that I love. Allbirds made an improvement to the fit and added deeper grooves in the tread. The fit feels very similar to me, and I'm not sure I can tell the difference between the Dasher 2 and the originals to be honest. Allbirds also added more responsive foam to the midsole. Overall, it's still very similar to the original Tree Dasher running shoe.

Onto the Tree Flyers! This is a new running shoe from Allbirds and now that I've started running again (albeit very casually), I was pretty excited to try these out. I purchased my usual 5.5, but found that these run a little longer than the Tree Dashers. I also tried a half size down just to see, but they were too snug. I ordered a heel liner from Amazon to hopefully add some padding around the ankle to help with the fit. So far, I've still managed to run in them so it's not a deal breaker that they're a bit too long. I just have a little wiggle room in the heel.

These come with a new, thinner cardboard insert. The treads are very substantial. I've already worn them out, so there's some noticeable dirt.

The laces are flat, and the new eyelets are also flat instead of the round fruit loops that the Tree Dashers have. There is also a pull tab in the back. I love the geometric design on the midsole. It makes it easy to kick your shoes off.

Tree Dasher insert on the left, new thinner insert on the right.

The Tree Flyers are less structured and softer than the Tree Dashers. Without the cardboard insert, the top of the toe box caves in. The new cardboard insert is much thinner and I think it definitely needs the original cardboard inserts that the Tree Dashers come with. I will be making that switch. In the below picture, you can see the difference with and without the insert. For this reason, I always place the inserts back in the shoe when I'm not wearing them.

Tree Dasher insert on the left, no insert on the right.

Both without inserts. Tree Dashers keeps the shape, the Tree Flyers cave in.

In the photo above you can see the Tree Dasher has a sleeker toe box. They are slightly more narrow than the Tree Dasher 2. The bottom photo is the midsole comparison. The Tree Flyer has a thicker midsole and is definitely very bouncy when I went for a run. I personally love a thick midsole. They are super comfortable. If you prefer a neutral or barefoot feel, these are not it. They are in fact, the complete opposite!

Weigh in! There isn't a huge difference between the two when I put them on the scale. At least I don't think it's a huge difference. 7.6 oz versus 8.0 oz. For those that run, is this a significant difference? The Adizero X Allbirds clocked in at 4.6 oz which is the lightest running shoe I have.

I am super pleased with the Tree Flyers and would highly recommend them. Price-wise they are a bit expensive to drop on a running shoe. $160 for a pair versus $130 for the Tree Dasher 2. I am an Allbirds junkie (I admit it, I have a pretty big collection) and they are all I wear these days. They're great for casual running and long walks. I typically run two miles at a time and so far I'm very pleased with how comfy they are.

Here are some behind-the-scenes photos with my cats! I was trying to shoot a video for this post and it's definitely distracting! Check out the vide if you like cats because they definitely steal the show. 😹

The Allbirds store in Avalon opened up last month and I finally got to visit. I went in to return the size 5 Tree Flyers. I did not try anything new on, since I have everything I want. 😂 Although I do want to get one of their R&R Hoodies in Natural White and Hazy Pine, but I'll wait until it gets a little cooler. I wonder why they don't have any zip up hoodies? If they did, I would really be in trouble!

Love the door handles!

And yes, I took a chocolate chip cookie!

Everyone was super nice at the store and when I told them I was returning the Tree Flyers I felt bad! I explained I ordered two sizes and was returning the size that didn't fit.

That's it for me! This was a long post. If you made it this far, I hope you have an amazing Monday!

  1. Good morning, Leslie! Thanks for the in-depth review of the Tree Dashers 2 and Tree Runners! Your cats in the video are very cute! Also, I appreciate all the in-store pics! Sometimes stock pics don't reflect the true colours of the items in real life, so it's great to see all the different shoes on display!

I think I will go with the Tree Dashers 2. Heel slippage is often a problem for me, so the Dashers will probably fit me better than the Flyers. Also, the Flyers cost $30 more, selling for $210 in Canada. Since I plan to use these for casual wear, I think the Dashers will suit my needs.

    Have a good week!

    1. Hi Karen! I agree, I was very surprised at how bright Buoyant Orange was in real life! Way too bright for me.

Always happy to help with your Allbirds decisions! =D Agreed, the Flyers are pretty expensive, so I am not sure I would get another pair. All depends on how well this heel liner I have coming works out for me. haha!

  2. Thanks for another great review, Leslie! Your cats are absolutely adorable and they definitely make the video more fun to watch! :D

Oh I hope the Dreamscape Collection makes its way to Canada! Dreamy Green looks so pretty and I wonder if there’s a hint of blue in the green?

I personally preferred round rather than flat shoelaces, even though the latter might stay in place better. It’s easier to tighten or loosen them in my opinion, and they also look cuter!

Have you ever tried the Women's Wool Runner-up Mizzles? I wonder if they fit similar to the Wool Runner Mizzles, and whether the high top is comfortable or not. Right now there’s not a color that I really love though (kind of interested in Atlas but not sure about the black sole …).

Can’t wait to read the review on the Trail Runners SWT!

    1. Hi Andrea! Thanks, I am going to have them show up in my videos from now on! Hahaha

Dreamy Green is definitely more blue to me. I don't think they look green at all!

I have not tried the Wool Runner-Up Mizzles. I do think they are similar to the Wool Runner Mizzles, but a high-top version. I'm not super crazy about having that much coverage over my ankles but I can see that they would be very warm for those who live in the colder climates! If I did have to choose a color I like Fog or Tuke Jo.

I hope to have the Trail Runners review up in a couple of weeks!

  3. Your review is wonderful! The Tree Dasher 2 color is my favorite I've seen from AllBirds. I don't need any running shoes so I'll just admire. Their hoodies are the price of LLL?? Wow! They don't look particularly worth that price point. I'd like to see your review on them if you ever do try. Aritzia hoodies are $70- $80 and come in so many colors and styles.

    1. Hi Janessa! Yeah $118 is kind of steep for a pullover. I would pay the price if it was a full zip hoodie. I'm a little hesitant with the pullover since I don't wear them as often. But I might give it a shot when fall comes.

I need to check out Aritzia more often, especially since I have store credit with them!

  4. Hi Leslie, thanks for review. I'm going to Europe. Lots of cobblestone streets. Never tried allbirds, but want to! Which ones would you recommend for walking on cobblestone? Thank you!

    1. Hi there! I would go with the Tree Dashers or the Tree Dasher Relay, they're the most comfortable ones. I'm jealous you're going to Europe! I've never been.

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
