Happy Monday! Today we have a guest fit review for the Tennis Time High-Rise Skirt in Silver Blue.
For reference Karen is 5'2" and wears size 4 in most Lulu bottoms:
Size 4-- Speed Up MR/HR Shorts, Pace Rival Skirt, Play Off the Pleats Skirt, Hotty Hot HR Skirt.
Size 2--Flutter Hem HR Skirt.
Tennis Time High-Rise Skirt Silver Blue Size 2
"Hi Leslie, The skirt is well constructed. The fabric is the same light & quick-drying material as Lulu's other tennis skirts. Sizewise, I ordered size 2 (waist 25"-25.5", hip 34.5") and it fits well at the waist, but I wish the liner was less tight. It rides up as I walk around the room. The fit is a true high rise, similar to the Court Rival Skirt. The length of the skirt (14.5" for size 2) is perfect in my opinion; it's the perfect in-between Pace Rival Regular (13") and Long (15") skirts.
The only thing I don't like about the skirt is that it's more flouncy than expected. The back looks great, but the multiple (four!) wide pleats at the front are too much for me. I prefer a simple A-line style. I never bought the Court Rival Skirt because I thought it's too girly for my style, and this skirt reminds me of the Court Rival Skirt. That's just my personal style though. Those who love the Court Rival Skirt will probably like this skirt.
My dream tennis skirt would be the Play Off The Pleats skirt in high rise, with the same waist band as the Speed Up High Rise shorts. I find the zippered pocket on the waistband very practical.
For the Tennis Time HR Skirt, I would suggest staying true to size or take the smaller size if between sizes.
In the pics, I wore the skirt with Athleta Girl's Sunburst UPF Tee in Paradiso Blue (size 14) and Asics Gel Blade 8."

Scuba Hoodie Vintage Plum Size 6
I finally caved and ordered the Scuba Hoodie in Vintage Plum and Silver Blue to try. I prefer to size up in Scuba Hoodies because of the tight wrist cuffs. When it arrived, it was really tight across the armpit area and very narrow in the body. I figured it was a one off and reordered it again in size 6. The second Vintage Plum is the one you see in the photos. It's a much better fit, but it was still cut smaller than my other Scuba Hoodies.
The Silver Blue fit like my other Scuba Hoodies. Looser in the body and more room in the shoulders. I prefer it loose, it's just more comfortable for me these days! Silver Blue is gorgeous in real life. Definitely not as green as the website shows. I already de-tagged and wore it. It's perfect for spring!

Let me know if you also tried Vintage Plum and if you found it to run smaller than usual. It's a shame that the sizes are not uniform across all colors. What if people end up buying on WMTM in their usual size and it turns out to be too small? I would hope Lulu would allow a return in this case.

Thanks for a great review, Karen! Silver Blue and Paradiso Blue look so nice together! I love how the skirt looks on you and it's kind of cute. It fits you well and the length is good, but I agree that there're too many pleats in the front. Would be perfect if it has a clean look like the back.

DeleteBoth Scubas look beautiful on you! It's too bad that the Vintage Plum one didn't fit right. Silver Blue is great for spring though! I wish Lulu were more consistent in sizing. My Swiftlies of the same size vary by up to an inch depending on the colour.
Oh Karen I hope you’ll like the crop. It’s really comfy and can be dressed up or down. I’m tempted to get it in Abalone Grey too, :).
Deletehi Andrea! My Avenue wide leg crops arrived and they're great! I love the lightweight fabric and the wide waistband is very comfy. In case you're still considering Abalone grey, the pants are actually light beige/oatmeal/almond in real life. It's still a nice neutral that will go with many of my summer tops, so I'm keeping them.

Thanks for the discount code Leslie! I jumped on the Avenue Wide Leg Crop bandwagon and ordered it too! Thanks Andrea for the recommendation :). I was debating between that and the Brooklyn Ankle Pant in Tawny Rose, but the Abalone color won out!
ReplyDeleteBoth of those Scubas are so pretty! It's a shame the Vintage Plum fit weird. I agree with you; if the sizing is so inconsistent, Lulu needs to allow returns if it's purchased on WMTM. Actually, that "final sale" policy is all kinds of dumb anyway. I'd be willing to try more stuff on markdown if it wasn't such a gamble.

Agreed, I really don't like buying from WMTM because of the final sale policy. They are one of the very rare companies that can get away with it!
I hope everybody loves her Avenue Wide Leg Crop or I’ll be in big trouble LOL. I was so close to ordering another pair in Abalone Grey but it will probably get dirty in no time. Better stick with dark colors for bottoms, :D

Silver Blue is one of my favorites next to Tidewater Teal. =) Those two colors actually work well together too!
