Fit Review Friday! Swiftly Short Sleeve Race Length, Hotty Hot High Rise Skirt, Track That High Rise Short 3"
Happy Friday! This is my first proper fit review in a while. This is the first time I'm trying Track That High Rise Short and my first time seeing Hotty Hot High Rise Skirt in person. I have a few more items trickling in from my order, so I'll have part 2 of this review up soon. Let's get to it!
For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically a size 4 in Lululemon tops but for some reason, this does not apply to today's fit review. I also wear size 4 in Lululemon bottoms.
As you can see, I'm wearing a size 6 in this Swiftly Short Sleeve Race Length. I sized up to avoid the tight armpit area. For the most part I am happy with the way it fits, but I still think I would prefer a looser fit in the chest/arm area. Is it crazy that I think I want to size up to an 8?! 😱
You can see in the below picture that it pulls at the armpit area. I guess my upper body is growing, or the Swiftly tops are shrinking. I think it's me though. Let me know your thoughts if I should size up. The color looks better in the stock photos. I was a little underwhelmed with this in person.
Next up we have the Hotty Hot High Rise Skirt. I personally love the Hotty Hot Shorts so I was curious to see how I would like the skirt version. Fit is true to size. I take the same size in the shorts. The waistband is stretchy and comfy, similar to the shorts. No issues there. The length of the skirt measures 14 inches in the front and 16 inches for the back. I found the length to be very flattering on my petite frame.
There is a built in liner short with grips at the hem which is pretty comfortable. There's a discreet zippered pocket at the seam. You can see it in the above photo. It isn't very big at all. Whatever you put in there has to be small or else it will show. There's also pockets on both sides of the liner. They are even smaller than the zippered pocket. These little details explains the $78 price tag, but is it worth it? This skirt is meant for running. I am not keeping this, so I can't say if they're comfy for running.
Are they flattering? My husband says not very. I did find a weird buckling/bunching in the back of the skirt right below the waistband. I pulled it down for the photos, but you can still see a hint of it. I do really like the length of it.
Next up we have Track That High Rise Short 3". My favorite shorts at the moment are Hotty Hot High Rise Shorts. A lot of people rave about the Track That High Rise Short, so I decided to give it a try. I'm wearing my usual size 4 and find these to be true to size. The inseam measures 3 inches and I think it's a good length for petites.
I found the fit to be very comfortable, but didn't think they looked very flattering on me. There's a lot of fabric that flares out from my hips. They almost look like a short/skort hybrid. I also can't believe shorts are now $68. That's a really big jump in price and because of that I'm going to be more picky about how items look on me, how they make me feel and if I think it's worth spending my hard earned cash on.
For those of you interested, I'm also wearing Athleta Elevation V-Neck Crop tank top in Tawny Rose. I'm wearing size small. I am super surprised at how much I like this tank. It's so soft, it feels like Nulu, and I like it so much more than the Align Tank. It's a lot more comfortable and it's also a lot cheaper. At $54 it's a steal now that Align Tanks are $68! I'm about to order this in a couple more colors. You know what else is awesome? All sizes in all colors are fully stocked! I'll have a more in depth review after I do a few workouts in this.

That's it for me! Let me know what you think of this haul. Have a fantastic weekend!

For me, Swiftly size kind of depends on what you are using it for. If I run, I use a size 6 because larger sizes tend to bunch up and be annoying. But, I'd never wear one that tight to do weighs or casually. For activity where there isn't as much bouncing around, I tend to pick the size 8. For casual, I wear a 10. Most of the time, when I've compared the 6-10 sizes, the difference is fairly small. It's not the same as going from a Small to a Large. Anyway, sizing up a few sizes in a Swiftly doesn't sound crazy to me!
ReplyDeleteI do like that HH skirt, but the price...it's a nope.
Thanks! I did not know Swiftly tops can vary so much in size. I always seem to take a 4 in the tanks since it's no sleeves, no issue. Next time I'll try the 8.
DeleteYeah the prices on these skirts and shorts is hard to swallow!
I haven't bought new swiftly in years so Idk but they do fit very tight. I read some people size up a ton and it still looks good. I think the skirt is kind of ugly and wouldn't buy it on WMTM! So many cuter skirts out there (Idk about running specific skirts...)
ReplyDeleteHi Janessa, I had no idea sizing up a few sizes was not a big deal with Swiftly tops. Yeah I never thought about a running skirt, wonder how that would be compared to shorts. Just think it would be a lot of extra material!
DeleteI don't like the fit of the new swiftly - tight on top and loose on bottom... I have only bought LS and tank and went with my normal swiftly size of 6. I can see the issue with the SS version though.
ReplyDeleteThe new HH skirt piqued my interest. I think it looks super cute on you, but for the $78 price tag it has to be perfect. I will give it a try when I go to the store this weekend.
Hi AmherstLulu- I didn't know they had changed the fit of Swiftly tops. I haven't tried a SS or LS one in years. I just stick to my tanks.
DeleteIt is cute, but the price! Let me know what you think if you get to see it in person.
I find the Swiftly shirts just too tight for my taste. I don't think they used to be quite as tight because I have a few very old ones that are great for running.
ReplyDeleteI do like the ones called Swiftly Breeze (I think). They are looser fitting. I have both short sleeve and long sleeve ones I wear casually. And they are my normal Lulu top size.
Hi Kathy, I guess they changed the fit of these tops. I wonder why?? Seems so strange to have them super tight at the shoulders.
DeleteI have tried the Swiftly Breeze awhile back. I was hoping to add a race length to my collection. I think the Swiftly Breeze ones are all regular length...
I’m usually a size 4 in tops as well. For the old cut swiftly short sleeves, I wear a size 6 and for the current swiftly race length, I size up to an 8 and I find it fits so much better!
ReplyDeleteWow! I guess I do have to get the size 8, we seem to be about the same size in tops. Good to know, thanks!
DeleteHi Leslie! Thanks for another great review! I've been eyeing the Hotty Hot Skirt, but didn't pull the trigger because of the price. I think it looks good on you! If it goes to WMTM, I may try to pick one up.
ReplyDeleteI have Swifly SS and LS in both size 6 and 8. I have narrow shoulders, so size 6 works for me. I wear size 8 for a more relaxed fit when I feel bloated. I think you'll find size 8 to be more comfortable around the shoulders, but a little loose around the waist and too long in length (unless you get the race length).
The Track That HR 3" also didn't work for me. I think it's more flattering on people with bigger hips and thighs.
Do you know when Athleta usually has their Friends & Family sale? I'd love to pick up a few pieces if there's a sale coming up. Thanks! Have a great weekend!
Hi Karen! The price on the HH Skirt is steep. I'm pretty sure it will end up on WMTM. I can't see many people paying that much for a running skirt.
DeleteSeems like most people wear the 8 in the Swiftly. It's so surprising how small these run.
As for F&F for Athleta I think they do it a few times a year. Right now there's a pretty good sale happening if you want to take a look. When there is a F&F coupon I'll let you know!
Thanks, Leslie!
DeleteI used to wear swiftly tank 6 until I realize size 4 fits much better! For long sleeves, I go for a 6. For Short sleeves, I don't know as I don't gravitate towards them lol.
ReplyDeleteThe HH skirt looks cute but I know I won't like it as I like fit and flare style more.... Thanks for the review!
Hi Blueberries! I also tried the Court Rival Skirt, it should be coming up next. That one is very 50s to me? I'm thinking like Grease. LOL.
DeleteGuess trends come and go! Lol
DeleteI have to size up from 2 to 4 for Swiftly L/S and they still fit kind of tight. Tried S/S once and it bunched up along the shoulders as if the shoulders were too tight. I have narrow shoulders though. I have three Swiftly L/S’s and probably won’t be buying more.
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea! I definitely don't have narrow shoulders. If you're wearing a size 4, I definitely need to go up to the 8. I would like to try it again in the Race Length.
