Fit Review Friday! Nulu Back-Twist Yoga Tank Top & Quilted Embrace Crossbody Bag

Happy Friday! We are more than halfway through February and my no-buy month is going strong. For this post I'm going to review my last Lululemon purchase from January. I wanted to see the Quilted Embrace Crossbody Bag in person and the Nulu Back-Twist Yoga Tank Top also caught my eye.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.

also wearing Align Short 6" Size 4

This tank is incredibly soft and made of Nulu. I'm wearing my usual size 4. I would say it's still true to size but personally I would want to size up in this for a looser fit. I really love the deep V on the back which shows off my tattoos but doesn't reveal any bra straps.

Nulu fabric is very stretchy but this fits slim. The length hits my hips and this top would make a great workout tank. I think sizing up would easily turn this into a casual summer tank.

also wearing Athleta Point Reyes Bomber Size PXS

Next up, we have the Quilted Embrace Crossbody Bag. It looks so pretty on the website I had to see it for myself. The color is iridescent but I found it to be more on the subtle side. It's very pretty and shifts from purple to lilac to gray with a slight blue tint.

The shape and size isn't the most flattering but it has a lot of potential, although it does remind me a little bit of an insulated lunch bag at times. The fabric is also water repellant! I do think that is pretty neat. The dimensions are 9 inches wide, 7 inches high, 3 inches deep.

The size is small but still holds a lot. It can fit everything I need to carry on a daily basis with room to spare. The strap measures 2 inches wide, which is a little too wide for my petite frame, it's about the same width of a seatbelt strap. The zippered pocket can be a little hard to get in and out of with the flap on top.

I do love the heavy pull tabs.

The back pocket seems just a little too shallow and would benefit from either a zipper or a magnetic closure. If the pocket came up just a little bit more, it would feel more secure. I'm not sure I would feel confident putting my phone in there.

Very roomy inside with a side pocket.

View from the top.

Overall, this is a solid bag with a lot of potential. It's very lightweight and I do love the quilting design. It's water repellant. The colors are amazing, but I just couldn't get over how wide that strap is. What do you think of the bag? Side note, I know many of you are getting less and less excited about Lululemon uploads due to rising prices and limited stock creating panic buying. Are there other brands that interest you? What do you want to see more of? Let me know in the comments!

That's it for me! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!!

  1. Thanks for reviewing the twist back tank! It caught my attention but I think it's a tad too long. Its length results in the gaping at the bottom half at the back close to the opening (where u can see the band of the leggings) - does that bother you?

WMTM - I ordered two of the 3 items u featured, specifically the love tank and energy bra 😁 couldn't resist!

    1. Hi Blueberries! I didn't mind the length or the gaping really. I think it would also look better if it was looser and not tight around the hip area. But I can see how that would bother you. I think the photos show the gaping at a standstill whereas in real life, moving around it wouldn't be as noticeable.

Nice! I think those two are a good deal!

  2. Thanks for the review, Leslie! I was interested in the Quilted Embrace Crossbody Bag but agree that the strap is too wide, not just for petites! The color is really pretty though. I would only think about getting it at WMTM cos it's expensive.

Yes I believe a lot of us have lost interest in LLL because of the price hikes, and honestly new items are lacking unique design features. Thanks for introducing us to Athleta and while their cloths are not cheap either, at least they put more thoughts into design details.

Ten more days to go, Leslie! :D Have a nice weekend!

    1. Hi Andrea! Yes $118 is a little high for the bag, totally agree. Have you seen them on WMTM? I wonder what the sale price would be.

I will admit, I have been purchasing Athleta more and more these days. Plus their bottoms are petite friendly! Lulu is missing out on that market here.

Ten days! I can hardly believe it. haha. Enjoy your weekend!

  3. I'm definitely one of those losing interest in LLL.

I would be interested to see lists of your favorites in categories -- vs brands. Fav tanks, long sleeves, hiking pieces, jackets, etc. across different brands and comparing them. I'm finding that I'm becoming much less brand loyal and more interested in items by function.

  4. hi Leslie! Thanks for the fit review! I love the colour of the Quilted Embrace Crossbody Bag, but I also find the strap a little too wide. If Lulu releases the Crossbody Camera bag in this colour, I would be tempted!

I'm so happy that Athleta is now available in Canada. I'm interested in some of their skirts/dresses for spring and summer. I love that their items don't sell out immediately, so I can take my time and make mindful purchases. I also love that sale items are returnable. I wish Lulu would allow returns on WMTM items, even store credit would be nice.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi Karen! I agree, would love to see this color in another bag. It's really pretty.

I wonder why Lulu doesn't accept returns on sale items. That's very rare in this day and age. I tend to not buy on WMTM unless I'm 200% sure the item is a keeper for me. Yes, even store credit would be nice.

  5. Hi Leslie - I love the black jacket. Is it a Lululemon jacket and if so, what is it called? If not, what brand is this? Thanks so much!

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
