Fit Review! Aviator Nation Retro Hoodie & Ninja Pullover Hoodie + New Year Musings

Hope everyone had a very Happy New Year! I can't believe it's 2022. Does anyone have any resolutions this year? I always like to calculate the total of how much I spent on Lululemon and Athleta every year. 🙈 It always makes me cringe when I see the numbers but I did clock in under last year's total so I'll take it as a win. Lululemon was just a smidge under $3,000. Athleta tallied $1600. However, there's a new contender - Aviator Nation. They're an expensive brand and a dozen items or so totaled $2500. Ouch! Hopefully this year I won't need to have every single color of their hoodies. So that said, this year I want to dial down on the items I add to my closet. Maybe I'll have a one in one out rule? Has anyone done that and were you successful at it?

Kicking it off the new year with Aviator Nation. I really do love the rainbows. For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size XS in Aviator Nation. I also wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.

also wearing Athleta Triumph Jogger Size PXS

Aviator Nation recently released a new style hoodie called the Retro Hoodie. It's also unisex and the fit is roomier/slightly oversized than their 5 Stripe Hoodie. The fabric feels broken in and soft. This is a light to medium weight hoodie with fleece lining. It's very cozy and it's already one of my favorite hoodies to wear on a daily basis. The colors that make up this hoodie are so vibrant!

One thing I will say, Aviator Nation tends to sell out very quickly. I'm not sure if it's because they limit how many they produce of each color and size. Given that all their clothes are made in Los Angeles, California I am guessing it's not a giant factory? All I know is I've been looking for restocks on the Retro Hoodies and so far, they have not come back and it makes me sad. I purchased this hoodie along with the Ninja Pullover Hoodie during their Black Friday sale.

Up next is the Ninja Pullover Hoodie. I went with the Heather Gray. Gray is just so easy for me to wear and it goes with joggers or jeans. I'm wearing size XS as this is also a unisex top. The double zipper kangaroo pocket is great for keeping things from falling out of the pockets.

Similar to the Retro Hoodie in terms of weight this is also a light to medium weight pullover with cozy fleece on the inside. What really sets this pullover apart from others I've seen is the unique neckline. It can almost double up as a face mask but it doesn't stay up, it's very soft and drapes easily. It really only stays up if the hood is being used.

The only thing I do want to mention is the fabric around the neck does itch a little tiny bit. On a scale of 1-10, I would give it a 1. It's almost unnoticeable and comparable to a merino wool scarf or even a cashmere scarf. That said if another color was released that I had to have, I would purchase another. The new Claret red is very tempting with the gold hardware.

The weather has been very rainy and cloudy for a while now and it's making it very challenging to take photos. It needs to clear up soon because I have some really good reviews coming up from Lululemon, Athleta, and Vuori! That's it for me! Have a fantastic start to the New Year!

  1. Ughhhh I don't want to add up what I spent at LLL. But I'm fairly certain I clocked in close to your number. And that doesn't include gifting for others for christmas.

I love the Aviator Nation pieces. Especially the sweatpants - I love any pant with stripes down the side - they are always so slimming and visually lengthen the leg. I'll have to look these up to try them.

    1. Hi Sherri! I hope for next year to clock in under $2000- but that may be hard to do since Lulu's prices just keep going up.

I really love my AN pieces. If you do look into them, these are low rise sweatpants and the XS fits but I prefer a higher rise so I prefer going up a size. It's a little baggier all around but it still works since they're sweatpants. Size small sits just a little under my belly button. The XS sometimes I feel like I want to pull it up some more, but I can't LOL!

  2. Happy New Year Leslie! I didn't add up what I spent at LLL last year but I believe it's under $1,000. On the other hand, I've spent too much on Allbirds! :D

I can't recall any 2021 LLL items that I really wanted to buy and they are all lacking the wow factor to me. I was wearing my Apres Piste Jacket the other day and was amazed how beautiful the quilted lining pattern was. I really miss the unique details of old LLL items.

I love how all your Aviator Nation pieces look on you and my favorite would be the Ninja Pullover Hoodie Heather Gray with the unique neckline.

    1. Happy New Year Andrea!

Wow, that is impressive. I don't think Il'l ever be able to clock in under $1,000. And I can totally understand the Allbirds obsession. =)

I have to agree, the piece that really gave me the WOW factor from 2021 is my Naked Cashmere cardigan. Lululemon has been lacking the details lately. Even though I love my Athleta and Aviator Nation- they're definitely more practical to wear. Aviator Nation is special with their rainbows - but I still can't put that in the unique column. Perhaps the Ninja Pullover might qualify. =)

    1. I usually try and get them on sale. AN will usually have 20% off on all the major holidays. It's a little easier to stomach with the coupon.

Makes me feel better I am in good company with the Lulu spending! =)

  4. Another gorgeous rainbow hoodie!! That blue is a real WOW with the rainbow stripes! I ordered the grey retro sweatshirt during the BF sale and I love it! I will say I thought the band along the bottom felt slightly tighter than my other AN sweatshirts. I keep putting the ninja hoodie in my cart. I really want one. I was hoping for a New Year's Day sale, but they didn't have one and I'm feeling impatient. I can't decide on size. I think the xs would be best, but I worry the bottom band may be the same as the retro pullover. But, I think the body of the ninja may be too big in a size up. Decisions, decisions...

Anyway, I love reading your posts! I look forward to new ones each week. Happy New Year!!

    1. Oh interesting! I have the Retro pullover coming on the way- I'll let you know how the band compares to the Ninja Hoodie. Which color are you eyeing? The Claret is still tugging on me.

    2. I'm thinking of getting the heathered grey. It will go with everything and I prefer lighter colors over charcoal, navy, etc. I do love the claret! It's been in my basket a few times. I love the kelly green color as well, but I know I wouldn't wear it as frequently.

I'm looking forward to your review on the retro pullover!

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...
