Fit Review Friday! Cotton French Terry Zip Hoodie & Insulated Waterproof Jacket

Happy Friday! How is everyone doing? It's a little less than two weeks away from Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales. What are you looking forward to more? Being with family or shopping the sales? I'm curious to see what this year will be like for Black Friday because a lot of companies are already pushing out amazing sales. Athleta, J.Crew, Aviator Nation have already done Friends & Family and flash sales. I do have some really good reviews coming up soon. Today's post covers Lululemon's new Cotton French Terry Zip Hoodie and a fit request for Insulated Waterproof Jacket.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically a size 4 in Lululemon tops.

For the Cotton French Terry Zip Hoodie I couldn't decide between the size 4 and the size 2, so I ordered both to try. The size 4 fits oversized on my frame. The sleeves are very long and bunches up quite a bit. The interesting thing is the cut of this hoodie is very similar to the Rogue Renegade Hoodie which was pointed out by one of my readers and sure enough I lined up both and it is very similar. The main difference is of course the fabric. The cotton French Terry does not have the same weightlessness of the luxtreme fabric of the Rogue Renegade hoodie. The back vent is also missing from the Cotton French Terry Hoodie.

There are no thumbholes which I thought was disappointing considering the price point is $118. I really do like the length of the size 4. I have photos of the size 2 coming up next.

Here are photos of the size 2 in the Denim Wash Print Dusky Lavender Black. It's definitely more cropped than the size 4. I can definitely feel the difference in length. The sleeves are still very bunchy and long. It's a little bit more fitted around the shoulders and chest. Even though I sized down, it is still comfortable.

Size 2

The back sits higher up but I do wish the zipper was a darker color. The lighter purple zipper tape stands out a lot to me. Some may actually prefer the contrast zipper, but I think I would have liked to see a darker color.

I love the zippered pockets and there's even a hidden pocket on the inside of the zipper. It's really hard for me to say which size I liked more. I really liked the length of the size 4 but prefer the fit of the size 2. What do you guys think?

Soft cotton Terry on the inside.

Next up we have a fit request for the Insulated Waterproof Jacket. There were no reviews when I ordered this jacket so I went with my usual size 4. Turns out it does run large if you do not plan on layering. However, if you do want to layer under this jacket, I would recommend stick with your usual size. That said, I did not find this jacket to be petite friendly. The sleeve length is ridiculously long. I seriously think I would need to take off about 4 to 5 inches.

It also came folded up, so it is very wrinkly. 😑 I do like that it comes with a two way zipper and snaps.

The inside is lined which makes it look a little bit poofy. This jacket boasts it is completely waterproof which may explain the $278 price tag. I really like that it is insulated and does seem to be fairly warm.

Has a double layer wrist cuff with thumbholes. The Lululemon branding is subtle on the sleeve, which I like. There is a cinchable drawstring for the waist as well as the hood. Also has inside zippered pockets for valuables. Let's look at some of the details of the jacket.

Subtle Lululemon logo on the hood.

Two way zipper.

Overall this jacket has a lot of features to warrant the steep price tag. I would stick to your true to size if you are planning on layering. If not, you could safely downsize. However, this jacket is best for the taller folks and not petite friendly at all. The sleeves are very very long. That's it for me! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

  1. I love the jacket details on the last one but it is way oversized for your frame! I LOVE the zipper and mini pocket on the first jacket though! Size 2 fits perfect on you! I love the grey color more than the purple bc it's simpler and easier to style with more things! The cotton jacket is super cute but not $118 cute... unless it's a treat yo self kinda purchase.

I've gotten some Sephora gifts and some Rare Beauty blush and highlighter for myself during the sale rn! LOVE the highlighter in the shade Enchant (light pink). I am waiting for Aritzia's BF sale. And I want to try the It Girl joggers from Alo... Of course the LLL sale too.

    1. Hi Janessa! I am waiting for my Sephora order to arrive. Funny you should mention Aritzia and Alo Yoga. I have reviews coming up for both! Did not order the It Girl joggers though, just didn't look petite friendly.

  2. Thanks for the review! The hoodie looks ok ...is it fleecy inside? I definitely prefer the rogue renegade hoodie with the popped up collar and the scuba full zip with the fleecy inside. Maybe I'm just picky lol

The jacket looks well made but definitely not petite friendly. I find most regular and mid length jackets aren't petite friendly... That's why I gravitate towards cropped jackets!

    1. Hi the hoodie is not fleecy, it's cotton terry. I did post a photo of the inside. It is soft, but not cozy like fleece. =(

  3. hi Leslie, Thanks for trying on both sizes of the Cotton French Terry Zip hoodie! I think size 2 is a great fit on you! Grey is more versatile, but if you already have other grey full-zip hoodies then perhaps the Denim Wash is a nice pattern that would go with any purple/grey/pink/blue.

The insulated waterproof jacket is very long in the sleeves! I think the back is slightly too long too. Thanks for trying it on, so we don't have to!

    1. Hi Karen! I do think the size 2 fits better than the 4. The sleeves on the 4 are pretty big. I'm so torn between the two colors though. I have so much gray but just wish that zipper was a darker color on the Denim Wash. Bah!

  4. Thank you so much for trying on the Insulated Waterproof Jacket, Leslie! It has potential but like you said, doesn’t seem to be petite friendly. I love that it’s waterproof and lined with Primaloft which makes it perfect on a cold rainy day. Was thinking of giving Raw Linen a try but just checked and sizes 0-4 were all sold out! :(

I love how the size 2 Cotton French Terry Zip Hoodie fits on you. Love the Denim Wash which is more interesting but agree it would look nicer with a darker color zipper.

I’m hoping that Athleta Canada will be having a Black Friday Sale. I’m thinking of getting a wrap or a sweater.

Thanks again for the review and have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Hi Andrea! I'm looking forward to the Black Friday sales! I hope the markdowns are good. Happy to try out the jacket for you. Maybe Lulu will restock it in your size soon!

  5. Thank you for the great fit reviews! The Insulated Waterproof Jacket is beautiful - it's a shame it's not petite-friendly! I'm really digging the Raw Linen color too.

I really like the hoodie. I would say the size 2 is a more flattering fit than the 4. I caved and got myself the purple denim wash in a size down also, and I really like it. I actually love the contrasting zipper - the print is a little dull so I think the pop of purple is kind of fun :) I see the hoodie is available in black now as well on the Canadian site.

I'm looking forward to some Black Friday deals from LLL. I could use a bit of a refresh in my workout wear!

    1. Hi Lola! Most long jackets aren't very petite friendly. There are very few and far between that work out.

I'll be keeping an eye out on all the Black Friday sales. Will be posting all about it!

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...
