Fit Review Friday! Textured Cropped Jacket, Soft Oversized Zip Hoodie, Prism Stripe Turquoise

Happy Friday! I am super excited because our bedroom renovation is almost done. Most of the furniture is arriving today! The only thing missing is the headboard, it's on backorder and won't be ready until July. 😩 We have been sleeping on our king size mattress on the floor the past week. I'm not used to being so low to the ground and getting up off of this 10 inch mattress isn't great for my knees if I'm being honest. I'm also working on a before and after post which I'm pretty excited to share.

Today I have for you two new fit reviews of Lululemon's latest jacket/hoodie. For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically a size 4 in Lululemon tops. Here I am wearing size XS/S in both.

First thing I noticed, this jacket is very very soft even though it is textured. It's a soft cotton blend that would be perfect to wear during cool summer nights. It would also work as a nice transitional Spring to Summer piece. I really like the texture but it does remind me a little bit like corduroy. The color White Opal is a light cool beige.

The cut is very boxy, fit is oversized and cropped length. Talk about super trendy. The sleeves are very poofy, but at least the length isn't super long. I wasn't 100% convinced this worked on my frame, so back it went.

I went with Green Fern for the Soft Oversized Zip Hoodie to try even though Black and White Opal are the better colors imo. As you can tell from my face the sleeves are ridiculously long! The jacket does feel super soft so the name is appropriate.

One thing I really like about this jacket is the soft lining of the collar. I also tried pushing the sleeves up to see if that would help, but there's just too much extra fabric and it didn't look any better. I am a fan of the cropped length. It actually helps with my short torso. Maybe this is one of those jackets where it's okay to hem the sleeves shorter since there aren't any special wrist cuffs or thumbholes?

One thing to note, the zipper is a little sticky at the bottom. I had to tug it a few times to get it working. I'm also not too fond of the O ring zipper pull that seems to be getting more and more popular with Lululemon and Athleta. The fabric is super soft and feels like my Soft Ambitions Crop Crew from last summer but it not as thick.

To hem or not to hem the sleeves? My only concern is how wide the sleeves are. Between the two jackets, I think I like the Textured Cropped Jacket a little bit more because of the shorter sleeve length. What do you think of these two jackets? Let me know! I also received the Swiftly Racerback in Prism Stripe Turquoise and love it. If you're thinking about getting one, do it! It's very similar to last year's Love edition but all turquoise, although to me it looks more teal. Turquoise I think of a very bright blue. It does have specks of the bright turquoise I suppose if you look closely.

also available in Long Sleeve and Short Sleeve.

That's it for me! Hope you all have a gorgeous weekend!

  1. I liked the soft oversized zip hoodie on you. The color looked great . I agree the sleeves are too long, but when you pushed the sleeves up, made the zip super cute on you. Liked the length too. I liked the texture and the color, but it just looked too boxy. I love the prism striped turquoise! I just received the swiftly ss, took the tags off the minute I pulled it out of the bag. Thanks for the reviews. I wanted to see the textured crop. You saved me money. Although now I’m thinking about the soft 1/2 zip!

    1. Thanks Sherry! If the sleeves weren't so long on the Oversized Zip, I would probably get it in another color. If you try it let me know how you like it. At least the Swiftly worked out!

  2. I have the same thoughts as to Sherry! I love the soft cropped jacket on you but impartial on the textured jacket. The green fern is gorgeous! I would consider hemming the sleeves... Maybe 2 inches? But with that price point, the jacket should be and need to be perfect by itself. The non smoothness of the zipper is a bit concerning. I'm also not a fan of the o ring zipper. Thanks for the review!

    1. Hemming it two inches might work. I think three would be pushing it because of how wide it would get at that point. But true- the price point is steep for this kind of jacket. Maybe if it ends up on WMTM?

  3. That has to be one of the prettiest swiftly's ever! I love this more than the love edition one. I really like the soft oversized jacket on you but I agree the sleeves are too long. I don't know if it's worth hemming and I would rather just buy something you like from the get go in case you don't like the hemmed sleeves. I like the texture jacket too but I'm not a fan of corduroy. Happy Friday!

    1. The Prism Turquoise is definitely up there with the Love edition one. I love them both equally I think. =)

That's a good point too- not liking the hemmed sleeves. =T

  4. The Soft Oversized Zip Hoodie Green Fern looks cute on you but the sleeves are waaaaazay too long! The cuff might be too wide after hemming though and the proportion will be off (especially when there’s a seam along the elbow). With that price tag, it’d better be perfect!

Thanks for taking pictures of the pretty Swfitly tank. Still struggling whether or not to pull the trigger as you know I’ve spent quite a bit on Allbirds lately! @_@

    Have a wonderful weekend, Leslie!

    1. Hi Andrea! So glad you're loving the Allbirds as much as I do. If I had to choose between Allbirds and Swiftly, I would go for Allbirds too. =)

  5. Thank you so much for this review! I think the length of both jackets are flattering on you! They're both very boxy though...I guess that's trendy these days, but I prefer a more tapered fit at the waist. Overall, I think the Rogue Renegade hoodie seems to be a better made jacket with a more flattering cut.

    1. Same! I love the Rogue Renegade Hoodie. I have it in two colors. Much more flattering fit for petites.

  6. I like the Soft Oversized Zip Hoodie on you - the Green Fern color is really pretty! I bought the White Opal, and I'm the same as you with the sleeves being way too long. I liked it enough that I'm getting the sleeves hemmed though! Hopefully it turns out :)

    1. Ohhh let me know how much you hemmed from the sleeves and if you like the outcome. Also is your zipper a little sticky at the bottom?

    2. I think it was about 2.5 to 3 inches that is coming off the sleeves. It's going to hit at about my first knuckle. I pick it up tomorrow, so I'll let you know how it ended up, and I'll measure the final sleeve length. And, yes, the zipper is quite sticky. At first I thought I got a dud, but after seeing your review and some of the reviews coming in on the website, this seems to be a common problem.

    3. Oh do let us know how you like it with the hemmed sleeves. I am super curious. It may change my mind about this jacket. Really wish the zipper was a little better though.

  7. I like the hemmed sleeves! They ended up just under 19 inches long from the shoulder seam, and the cuff diameter ended up being about 11 inches, so the cuff is fairly wide at the bottom now. I think they look similar to the sleeves on the Airwrap Pullover Hoodie. I'm really happy with how it turned out :)

    1. Thank you for the measurements. I may reconsider when they release more colors, or restocks in the white opal. That's probably my pick at the moment.

    2. I Love the Lululemon cream jacket you showed. Would you be willing to sell it to me?

    3. Hi there, sorry but I didn't like how it looked on me, I returned it.

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
