Review! Lululemon Ear Loop Face Mask

Hope everyone had a nice weekend and celebrated some love. If you're single there's nothing wrong with some self care and loving yourself! Sounds corny, but it's all truth. Take a bath, or take an extra long shower. That's always my #1 go to in self care. Do something for YOU. So, with that I have a review of Lululemon's updated face mask with ear loops. If you're interested in the original double strap version, you can check out my review

Let's take a look at the fabric and the inside of the face mask. The spacer fabric is thinner than the double strap version. They removed the seam down the middle of the mask and left just a bit of the nose piece. There's also a seam going across near the bottom of the mask for the jawline.

Adjustable ear loops!

(Currently sold out, but I expect they will restock eventually.)

Before I get into it, please excuse my quarantine haircut! My husband did the best he could but it needs some cleaning up! 😅 I haven't had a proper haircut in over a year. I can't wait for the day I can get back to my normal hair routine. As you can see in the photo below, the fabric is thin. So thin, you can really see the outline of my lips. I wonder if I'm wearing it too tight, but it doesn't feel tight at all.

The adjustable ear loops are definitely a step up from the original double strap version. Makes it a lot easier to take on and off. This face mask is very form fitting. Here is where the issue lies with this mask. Because it is so form fitting and because the fabric is so thin, it really creates a problem breathing if the mask doesn't fit properly. I have the mask lined up with the seam going along the jaw. Because of this, the mask sits very high up on my face and the nose piece isn't where it should be. Basically my face is too short for this mask. When I breath in, the fabric gets sucked right into my nose.

So what happens when I pull the mask down a little bit to where the nose placement should be?  In the below picture the mask sits lower on my face and I am able to breath with the nose piece in the right place.

I also have an issue with my glasses fogging up with this mask, more so than others.

The issue here is the seam for the jaw no longer lines up correctly and it creates gaps along the sides and the bottom of the mask. Since the mask is lower, it also hits my throat which can be a little uncomfortable after awhile.

All in all, this is not my favorite mask and it fits my husband's face better. He has a much bigger and longer face than me. Lucky for him, he now has two Lululemon face masks! 😆 I will stick to my Athleta face masks. Do you have one of these masks? What has your experience been like?

That's it for me. Have a great Monday!

  1. Thanks for the review! I prefer the fit of the ear loop face mask. I agree that the fabric is thinner than the double strap face mask and it hugs the contour of my face too closely. It failed the candle test by the way so I only wear it when I walk outside.

    1. Ah, interesting that it failed the candle test, I saw one where it passed. Maybe it all depends how hard you blow. LOL. These days I've been double masking it. I'll wear a disposable over or underneath a mask depending on the fit.

    2. I did the blow test too. The ear mask one failed and I blew the same with the double strap and ear loop. I really wanted to go online and warn anyone about it as its not going to protect you from why you're wearing it in the first place. Wondering if the double mask one is fully protective now, as well..hmm..

  2. Thanks for the review! Never saw the ear loop masks on the Canadian site and I think they were sold out even before I knew they were uploaded! :D

The new design makes more sense by taking away the seam down the middle and adding one along the jawline. Would fit perfect if you have a longer face! The fabric, however, is too thin and doesn’t offer much protection, which defeats the purpose of wearing a mask. I would only wear it going out for walks in the neighborhood. The color is really nice though! :)

I’m still looking for the perfect mask and too bad we don’t have Athleta here in Canada!

    1. Yes, it will probably fit most people perfectly fine. I just have a smaller face. It's okay though I have plenty of masks to rotate! But hubs looks great in the Lulu mask, I'll give him that. He wears a disposable one over it.

  3. Thanks for the review, Leslie! Seeing how form-fitting the mask is on you, I don't think I would like this mask. I prefer an air space between my nose and mouth. I find it more comfortable and easier to breathe. Have a good week!

    1. Thanks Karen! Yep it was hard to breathe in this. I was really struggling and wished I had my Athleta mask!

  5. I like my Athleta mask the best as well...although I haven't tried Lululemon's version. I have a small face especially nose to chin and at Christmas I bought a Disney mask meant for older children as a festive holiday "overmask". I greatly prefer the adjustable ear loops as I can adjust for when I'm wearing sunglasses or changing my hair - i have to loosen a mask to handle my hair pulled back. Again thanks for the detailed reviews. The way you can see the entire mouth on that mask is a little bit odd I wonder what it would look like to talk to someone wearing it? I have an odd image in my mind

    1. It's definitely weird trying to talk with it on. Makes me not want to talk that much. Too much effort!

  6. I got the double strap and I really like it. I got the ear loop one and it's too thin. I saw on tik tok that a gal could blow out a candle through it. So, I tried to blow out the candle with the double strap mask and it didn't go out and then tried it with the ear loop one and it blew out right away. I contacted lulu and they said on their website it says they're not medical grade and the customer service girl said she wears a medical grade one underneath.... they're not returnable so I just don't recommend it.

    1. I don't disagree with you at all, I have two that I just never use. I would say to double mask if people who do like it and wear it.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Review! Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Size Small Plus Video

You all know I love my bags, and as a Balenciaga collector, I don't often stray from the City and First style. The Rodeo (pronounced like Rodeo Drive) really caught my eye. It gives off a slouchy Hermes Kelly vibe, but way more practical to use.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall. Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Small The Rodeo can be carried a few ways. It comes with a crossbody strap that is not adjustable but it is removable. Not sure why anyone wouldn't add a few extra holes to make a strap adjustable these days. Come on Balenciaga! Do better! The top handle is a bit too long for this to work anyhow, I feel like the top handle gets in the way. It sticks out and doesn't sit well in my opinion. I wouldn't carry this bag crossbody unless it was an unforeseen emergency and I really needed my hands free. This bag looks more chic carried by the handle or crook of the arm. It also looks nice left open with the help of the flap tucked in. The Rodeo resembles the Kelly bag ...

Review! Lululemon's Large Everywhere Belt Bag Size Comparison Plus Video!

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's almost Halloween! I actually have a dentist appointment on Halloween. One of my molars chipped and needs to be filled in. It's a tiny chip that I didn't even notice until my dentist pointed it out to me during my last visit. I'm not looking forward to it at all since I will need local anesthesia. Anyway, today I have a belt bag size comparison review for you all! For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.
