Fit Review Friday! Sweaty Betty Essentials Sweatshirt and Gary Luxe Fleece Pants

Happy Friday! For all those celebrating Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day, I hope you have a fantastic time! Today I have something a little different. I have not tried anything from Sweaty Betty in years. I'm thinking maybe close to five years. I recently browsed their website and saw they had some nice looking pullovers that looked extra cozy so I had to try it.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 and typically a size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms. For Sweaty Betty I am size XXS/XS in tops and XS short in bottoms.

This soft cotton pullover fits oversized. I wasn't sure if I would be the XS or XXS since I haven't purchased from Sweaty Betty in a long time but if I were to purchase this again, I would buy the XXS. It's just slightly too big but it's so comfortable I decided to keep it! It's a medium weight sweatshirt with soft terry fabric on the inside. It's definitely a lot softer than Lululemon's Perfectly Oversized Crew. You can also read my review in case you want to see comparison photos. The fit is similar but I definitely prefer the
Essentials Sweatshirt. The price point is also more reasonable. I wish Sweaty Betty offered more colors though.

The sleeves are long and baggy but it goes with the oversized look. Sizing down would have helped a little bit, but overall I didn't mind it. I like the look and feel. The length hits my upper thigh which works on my petite frame.

I also think wearing it with the bottom hem folded underneath looks very cute. I'm considering getting another one of these in navy. It does look really sharp for $68. My only complaint about this sweatshirt is the drying instructions. Apparently this needs to be air dried. Whhyyyy? It takes forever. I used to air dry my Scuba Hoodies but now I just throw it in the dryer and hit the low setting. 😅

The collar is not restrictive at all which is always something I check for. This pullover has a matching Essentials Jogger. If you purchase a matching set you can save $28. The only reason why I didn't try the jogger is because of the length. It only comes in full length which I knew would be too long. The inseam measures 28 inches. I instead decided to try their Gary Luxe Fleece Pant which comes in the shorter length of 26 inches.

I'm wearing size extra small which fits perfectly at the waist. These hit at my belly button but they could be pulled higher or lower depending on how you like it to fit. I did not realize when I ordered these that the fleece was on the outside. If you own any pets I would not recommend these at all because the fleece attracts pet hair like crazy! They are super soft and cozy. I took the photos and sent them right back. The leg is very roomy and baggy although the ankle is very fitted. Depending on how you like your joggers to look, these were only okay for me. I prefer a more fitted leg.

That's it for me! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

  1. The pant looks so comfy but agree it’s too baggy. I also prefer something more fitted. I’m really loving my On the Fly Jogger! If a nice color comes out, I’ll very likely get another pair.

The sweatshirt is perfect for WFH days. Sizing down might fit you better but this oversized look is kind of cute.

Happy Lunar New Year and wishing you all the best in the Year of the Ox!

    1. So jealous the OTF jogger works for you. I would love one for myself!

Happy Lunar New Year! I think Ox year will be a good one.

  2. I have one Sweaty Betty pullover from years ago and found the inside to be kinda rough. Also their pieces can be cut pretty big (like for non petite people). I really like that grey sweatshirt especially with 30% off??!
My trench scuba 1/2 zip came in today and the color is beautiful and doesn't wash me out. I'm about NC20. I have yellow undertones and the beige is way more grey and yellower than me so it somehow doesn't blend in yay

    1. I learned from this purchase that the tops run very big. I doubt any of the short lengths would be very petite friendly, but I am willing to try some out as long as there is free ship and free returns.

Yay glad to hear the trench color doesn't wash you out! I'm still hoping for a full zip version.

    2. And I saw the full zip version at the HK site! Hope we'll get it here soon

  3. Happy lunar new year, Leslie! Thanks for the fit review! I've never tried anything from Sweaty Betty before. The pullover looks very comfy. I agree that the joggers are baggy. I think slim joggers are easier to carry. If you end up trying the Essentials Zip Through Hoodie, I'd be interested to see a review. It looks petite friendly! Have a great weekend!

  4. Hi! I am new here and new to Lululemon and have just come to use your blog as a reliable source of knowledge before I make any lulu purchases! I just appreciate your honesty, consistency, and breadth of products you try on and review. Can you help me decide on what define jacket fabric to choose? I'm just curious what your favorite fabric is and why? And which fabric do you think is the most durable? I'm leaning towards luxtreme and have found one I love off of fb (Spanish Rose in Luxtreme). I really just want to use it for daily use like running errands, to make my athleisure outfit look a little more put together and polished (did I just use the word polished to describe athleisure wear?!?!Haha!) Thank you for all of your amazing content and for all of your help!

    1. Hi there! Thank you for your comment! My favorite is nulu just because how soft and comfortable it is. It's not the most durable but it is super soft. It will pill at certain spots, for example if you use a bag with the jacket you may find where the bag rubs against the jacket to pill over time. I've had that also happen with luon. Luxtreme is probably the most durable between the three mentioned.

To mask some of the pilling on the other fabrics I like to go for a pattern or print. Hope that helps you decide!

    2. That is so helpful! Thank you so much for sharing your Lulu wisdom with me😄 Could you also tell me which fabric you think is the warmest? Thank you for all your time and help!

    3. In general any knit is usually warmer. Herringbone or variegated knit. Defines are usually not that warm on their own. It's a good layering piece. A lot of people wear another jacket or vest over the Define Jackets.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
