Supernatural Review!

I hope everyone had a nice relaxing weekend! Today I'm reviewing something a little different. Before pandemic days I used to get a decent amount of cardio walking around parks and just even going to the mall I would get my steps in. Not everyday, but I would consistently get 8,000 steps and on the weekends I would try and get my full 10K. Now with social distancing and needing to wear a mask everywhere it's less appealing to go out and I get anxiety being around people who aren't keeping six feet apart and some still refuse to wear masks, so I've been cooped up inside a lot. Which means, no steps. Back in June of last year my sister sent me the Oculus Quest and I've been addicted to Supernatural ever since.

The video I posted of me working out to Supernatura is a medium intensity workout and it's only the first 30 seconds of it. The medium intensity workouts are pretty easy for me now, I think the high intensity workouts ones are a lot harder and way more challenging. I highly recommend this VR workout especially during a pandemic or even during the winter season. Supernatural is only available on the Oculus. The subscription is $19 a month or $149 for the whole year. I signed up for the entire year as I know I won't be leaving the house any time soon. 😅

It's just so much fun. You're working out in places you can only dream of. One of my favorite locations is on Mars. For real! They took footage from the Mars Rover itself. It's amazing. I've worked out on the Great Wall of China, I've been to the mouth of a volcano, lunged and hit targets while floating over water with the most gorgeous sunset you've ever seen.

I wanted to share some of my stats after a long session synched with my Apple Watch. I worked out for 80 minutes.  It shows how many active calories burned and total calories, your average heart rate. My lowest BPM was 82 and the highest was 168 BPM.

Here are the workouts I completed for this session.  Each workout has a warm up and cool down. You can skip them if you want to, but I usually do it all. I like the stretching in between each workout and it also gives you a chance to rest and catch your breath. If I plan on doing multiple workouts, I always start with the hardest one first. At the end of each workout they give you a summary that you can see on the app. The upper left hand corner tells you the intensity of the workout. H is for Hard, M for medium and L for low intensity. I got a triple platinum which almost the best ranking. If you get 99% for both accuracy and power then you will receive a diamond! My power scores are not always that good. Anything above 90% is great. I love that it also shows what your average heart rate was during the workout.

Now as for the setlists, they have all kinds of music to choose from. There's country, classic rock, 80s, 90s grunge, pop, old school rap, electronic. You name it, they will have something for everyone. My favorites tend to be 80s, 90s, and electronic. My least favorite is country and metal. I can do old school rap, but not so much the newer stuff. There's even classical music which is actually really cool because you totally feel like a badass conductor. Each workout is coached by a trainer. Currently there are five trainers. I do have a favorite if you must know. Ranier followed by Leanne. I like having the coach talk you through some of the hard moments and they encourage you and push you to get through the workout. It's nice to know you're not doing it alone.

I had a really good workout that day. I felt amazing especially with the rush of endorphins right after the workout. I can't think of a more enjoyable way to get my cardio in. I don't think I can ever go back to jogging on a treadmill/elliptical. There's just no way, not after this. Also smashing targets is such a great way to de-stress after a hard day. Other benefits? I sleep like a baby at night.

This has been a total cardio game changer for me. It makes it so easy to complete my rings/circles. I usually aim to for three times a week with Supernatural and three weight training sessions in and one day of rest. I'm curious to know if you have tried Supernatural or any kind of VR fitness. Let me know in the comments!

That's it for me, have a Happy Monday!

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
