Fit Review! Engineered Warmth Jogger and Engineered Warmth 1/2 Zip, Lululemon Lab Varsa Hoodie

I hope everyone enjoyed Christmas Day and got to spend some time with your family, even if it's over Zoom, which is what I did! My family all opened our presents and did a little show and tell. It was really kind of cute and fun. I really hope next year I can do it again but in person!

So I know, I really need a haircut- again. I am bugging my husband to give me a trim. So hopefully soon! It's why I've been cropping my head off in most pictures. 😅 I have a lot more fit reviews coming up. I'm trying to get as many in as fast as possible because of all the sales happening right now.

Alright, so let's get on with this fit review. For reference I'm 4 feet 11 and typically size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.

Thumbholes, yay!

I actually sized up in this top based on the reviews I read since I wanted to be able to wear it casually and didn't want this to be too fitted since it is supposed to be slim fit. Because I sized up, the length is a little long in the body and sleeves. It hits a little bit lower than the hip. The fabric on the outside is textured and according to the website "3D engineered knit". The inside is 100% merino wool.

When zipped up, it is fairly fitted around the neck but it wasn't uncomfortable. The issue I didn't like is when I had the zipper open, the collars wouldn't lay flat and would kind of just stay up and poke my neck a bit, which leaves me to think- might as well just wear it fully zipped up. I do like the pockets on both sides of the sweater. There is also a zipper for each pocket. This sweater is very high quality.

Overall, I found it to be very comfortable to wear. Price is steep at $148. The color submarine is very pretty and I think probably the best of the three options available. I also ordered the jogger even though I knew it would be too long, but I might as well try it for a fit review. The length of these joggers measure 29 inches. I ordered my usual size 4 to try and found it to be true to size, if anything it was just a smidge generous for a size 4. The top part of the joggers fit well. The waist was very comfortable and again I love the zipper pockets. I don't think these look cheap at all, and if anything the texture makes these joggers stand out with their uniqueness. These are also lined with merino wool and I did find it to be just a little bit itchy on my legs. If you're super sensitive, definitely try them on first if possible to see if it bothers you. I didn't find the top to be itchy at all.

Here are some photos that show the length as is, my inseam is about 25-26 inches. These measure 29 inches long. They definitely bunch up around the ankles a lot.

It's hard to see on the website, but there IS a cuff on these joggers. It's kind of subtle but it's there. I pulled the joggers up to show the cuffs.

The next couple of photos I am showing how these look with the cuffs folded under. It looks okay, not great in case anyone is thinking of hemming them. I so wish Lululemon would make these in petite sizes! I can't tell you how many times I've said this... price is $138 which is very steep for joggers. The gray sage and graphite are currently on sale for $89.

They do look pretty cool from the top.

Next up, this one is from my Black Friday purchase. It's the Varsa Hoodie I was eyeing FOREVER, but couldn't justify the enormous price tag of $168- I mean seriously?! $168 for this hoodie. No way is it worth that much. When it hit WMTM for $59, it was mine. For $59, I would say it's worth it. This is currently sold out, but if you really want it, it's available on resale sites like Poshmark. I'm wearing size small.

Lululemon Lab Varsa Hoodie- Size Small - currently sold out.

This hoodie also has dolman (not dolma!!) sleeves. The length is cropped but it still hits at the waist for me. It's not too cropped at all on my petite frame. The fabric is textured but still soft. It's definitely on the lightweight side so it would be great for a cool summer night or the beginning of fall season. The fit is oversized and very generous.

The sleeves are very long but I don't really mind it. I do love the colors on this hoodie. I'm glad I waited for the sale price on this one!

And after months of mulling over if I should buy a second Everywhere Belt Bag, I finally pulled the trigger on deco pink. It really is a lovely color and right up my alley. I was hoping for a nice purple color, but Lululemon never did drop a purple. Watch them release one next week. It would be just my luck. I already de-tagged this and wore it, so there's no turning back now. This bag is definitely one of my best purchases this year. It fits the essentials and there's enough room for a mask as well. I got one for my sister as part of her Christmas present.

Of course I couldn't really resist the cute colors of the City Adventurer Backpack in the nano size. It doesn't really work with the belt bag, but I tried it to show the size. It's actually bigger than I thought it would be. It's really cute and comes with a carabiner to clip on to another bag.

(City Adventurer Backpack Nano - currently sold out but now I want the micro version.)

(Flash not for sale! 😆)

That's it for me! Let me know what you think of this haul.

  1. Hi Leslie

It's cindy! Thanks so much for the great review. The wool top doesn't look too long at all on you. As for the pants, the sale one sold out before the review, too bad because i would have had them hemmed! i just love cozy pants lately as it's always freezing in my house. hoping for the black or blue to go on sale. Will you be keeping the set? the oversized hoody top looks great on you too.

    1. I ended up returning the set. The joggers are too long and I wasn't crazy about how it looked on me even cuffed under. The top I really like, but $148 is kind of steep, I will get it if it makes it to WMTM!

  2. The engineered warmth set looks great on you! Wow. Looks very high end. You should keep that set!

    1. Thanks!! I'm hoping to snag the top on WMTM... $148 is pretty steep but I do understand as the quality is high- but I'm thinking about cost per wear. =)

    2. True- cost per wear. Hopefully it makes it to wmtm. The color is very pretty. Although, if the wool is a little scratchy, I probably wouldn’t wear it much. I’m still watching the vuori site hoping they have a sale. Their clothes are unbelievably soft!

    3. What's interesting is I only found the joggers scratchy, the top was fine.

I've been following Vuori since summer and I haven't seen many items go on sale. If you have multiple email addresses I would sign up for the 20% off first purchase. I have done that twice so far if I'm ordering a decent amount. But yes, I basically live in their joggers. I have 4 pairs! I just ordered one more in size XXS to see if it is more of a slim fit around the legs. Will have a review up soon- hopefully! I also ordered my husband two pairs of the men's joggers since I love mine so much. He has a pair of their Ponto shorts and says they're the most comfortable shorts he owns.

  3. Great reviews. BTW thats the second time you've said "dolma" so I need to correct you, it's "dolman" sleeves. :)

    1. Hahahaha that is hilarious, thank you for that. Dolma is from my Balenciaga days, there was this 2005 color called Dolma Green.

Too funny! My brain is still on Balenciaga speak. Thanks I'll go back and correct it to dolman. LOL

  4. I love the Valsa Hoodie on you! Great buy at the sale price. You make me want one too lol. I constantly remind myself these days to only buy Lulu on WMTM after seeing so many items that I paid full price for ending up on WMTM. It is very likely that the Engineered Warmth 1/2 Zip will be marked down.

    1. Thanks! It's definitely worth waiting for items to hit WMTM as long as you're sure of the sizing.

If the 1/2 zip hits WMTM it'll be mine!

  5. Love how the Engineered Warmth set looks on you and the color is so pretty! Agree the prices are way too steep though. Even though the quality is good, I wouldn’t pay close to CAD 300 with tax for the set!

You lucked out getting the Varsa Hoodie at such a good price! Not a fan of cropped items but the colors are gorgeous!

I’ve been thinking of getting the Everywhere Belt Bag and hope it will come out in grey or purple. The City Adventurer Bag in nano size is super cute!

    1. Thanks Andrea! I hope the color goes on WMTM. It is really pretty.

I think there will be a gray or purple, we just have to be patient and I am usually not that patient lol. I may try the backpack though!

  6. I agree with everyone that the Engineered Warmth 1/2 Zip looks luxe and I love the colour! Thanks for doing all the fit reviews for us! With my city under lockdown, I can't try on clothes at my local store and I'm reluctant to order full-price items just to try them on. Perhaps I'm unlucky, but the past couple times I returned an online purchase, it's taken 3+ weeks for the refund to process \(>__<)/!

    1. I have found it's been taking 2-3 weeks to process the returns. I think it's because of slow carriers these days. I hope it'll be faster now that the Christmas rush is over.

  7. The Engineered Warmth 1/2 zip is SO pricey but worth it in my opinion if you are using it for its intended purpose and not just lounging. Too each their own of course! I have it and found it too warm for 30 degree temps. I had to vent it last time I went on a run and felt like I was overheating and I only had a short sleeve work top underneath. So I think below 30 runs and you will be golden.

    1. Oh for sure, if I still lived in the northeast, it would be worth the price. I did a lot of walking around during the winter and would have loved this top!

  9. Came across your blog as I've been thinking about the engineered joggers for a few months now, waiting a little longer to see if they're be reduced more. I didn't know there was a matching top and saw that it's now $74 instead of $148, so I'm thinking about the top. Also, I've been dabbling a little into Vuori, waiting for "warmer" weather to truly use them outdoors. Looking forward to reading more of your reviews about some of my favorite brands!

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's almost Halloween! I actually have a dentist appointment on Halloween. One of my molars chipped and needs to be filled in.
