Fit Review! Alo Yoga Foxy Sherpa Jacket!

The biggest search of fall/winter 2019 for me is trying to find the perfect sherpa jacket. It's very in at the moment and I'd like to get one without breaking my bank account. I ordered the Foxy Sherpa Jacket in advance to see if I would like it. I have 30 days to return it and if it goes on sale for Black Friday I may just order it again to get the sale price.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 and typically a size 4 in Lululemon tops. For this jacket I'm wearing a size XS.

Currently 30% off at Alo Yoga with CODE EARLYACCESS19.

The sherpa feels pretty soft, it isn't silky but it's not rough. Kind of like petting a soft fuzzy teddy bear. I opted for the dove gray color because I wanted something a little lighter than my usual dark color palette and the other option- camel isn't really my color. The dove gray is a very pretty neutral and I can see myself wearing this with a lot of different bottoms. It can easily go with jeans as well as darker leggings as shown in this photo shoot. The style is a short bomber jacket with an oversized hood. The hood is removable by snaps. The body is very roomy and I can definitely layer if I wanted to.

The sleeves are comically long!

As you can see I've pushed the sleeves up and there's a lot of extra material. It doesn't look terrible, but it isn't ideal either. The cuff is fairly loose around my wrist so it hangs midway down my hands. I will probably find myself pushing the cuffs up every so often.

As for warmth, this is very cozy and will keep you toasty in cold weather temperatures. Keep in mind the length is short and won't cover the bum. This jacket is very well made which is why it has a high price tag.

Overall, I initially thought it would be an easy return when I first tried it on because of the super long sleeves, but after seeing these photos I'm having second thoughts and leaning towards keeping it. I'm not 100% sure yet and will leave the tags on. If I see it on sale for Black Friday then I think it will be worth the sale price. Full price it is $188 + tax where I am, which tips it to over $200.

What do you think? Yay or nay? Are you into the sherpa trend or not? Would love to hear what you think about this jacket!

  1. I have this Alo jacket in black and lavender colors, and love them! I got them both last year and wore them quite a bit. I think it looks good on you, baggy sleeves and all! The sherpa trend is one of personal favorites. I like anything soft and plush.

    1. Ohhhh the lavender is so pretty, I saw some photos of it online. I wish they had a purple or mauve color for this year.

  2. Everything is perfect except the sleeves. They are a few inches too long and the extra material make the sleeves look very bulky. I think it’s more obvious on a light fabric color.

    1. The baggy arms are "in" and I think I will have this problem with all of these jacket unfortunately. =(

  3. I liked the Athleta and Patagonia ones on you, look better I think. This one is made for someone with gorilla arms, it seems. And obviously it's personal opinion, but when the hood is not on and fastened, those flaps remind me of epaulets.

    1. I do like the Patagonia one a lot, but didn't like any of the colors. Gorilla arms! HAH! I was initially not a fan of the flaps either, but they have grown on me.

  4. I love the Sherpa trend, too, but I think the Lululemon one you've tried on previously looks better on you (although I love the grey colour).

    1. I did like the look of the Lululemon, but wasn't the most comfortable in the smaller size. Sadly, none I've tried on has been perfect. Agreed, the gray is super pretty!

  5. I like the Alo jacket on you the best but agree that the price tag is a bit high. If you are OK with the sleeves, keep it. I ended up buying the Athleta Cozy Sherpa reversible jacket in grey. I went with XXS since it is boxy. It's super cozy. My wallet is also happy because I paid very little after using my reward $.

    1. I actually tried on the Cozy Sherpa when I went to Athleta over the weekend. They had the gray in XXS. I liked it, but wasn't crazy about the zipper. I feel like I'm being overly picky sometimes, but I did like the fit and feel. It was a very close one as well!

  6. I have to be honest that this the least favourite of the Sherpa jackets. I think it is too overwhelming for your petite frame, not just the arms but the body is too boxy and roomy and the epaulet flaps, when the hood is not up, are too much. I like the look of Lululemon's Sherpa jacket the best on you.

    1. Thanks! I still feel like the XS would be better in the Lulu Sherpa but there is a lot of extra fabric under the arms that wasn't exactly comfy. I'm still undecided about the Alo Yoga. I love how soft it is and the coziness factor. Personally I think the Alo Yofa is the best one so far.

    2. Leslie, in the end your own opinion is the only one that matters! But I am curious what your husband thinks?

    3. He prefers the neckline on the Lululemon Short & Sweet sherpa, but says ultimately it's up to me!

  7. I’m not into the Sherpa trend....yet. I feel like it’s everywhere on social media. I love the dove gray, such a nice neutral color. I do think the alo Sherpa overwhelms your body. The hood, the shoulder ‘things’ and the arms, just not petite friendly. I’m with you on the new plush scuba from lulu lemon though. I think I’m gonna wait till next week to see if other colors drop. But that night diver is a gorgeous color (in the photos). Let us know how it compares IRL. Thank you for your reviews. I almost bought the alo Sherpa ;)

    1. I just got the plush scuba in the night diver. It's really pretty. It reminds me of nocturnal teal but more deeper and saturated. Already took the tags off! I really like the silver accent, really makes it special.

As for the alo yoga, since I'm still on the fence I think I'll probably return it!

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...
