As someone who has purchased probably over 50 pairs of jeans in my lifetime, from ones that cost $30 to $300 I can honestly tell you that my favorite pair have been Athleta jeans. I'm not even kidding. A pair I had in high school from J.Crew came very close to being my favorite pair ever but it had one fault, they were button fly and after a while I got tired of having to undo and redo all the buttons every time I had to go to the bathroom.
Last month when I KonMarie'd my closet, I ended up keeping 5 pairs of jeans. Last week I decided to get rid of two more. One was a pair of Diesel jeans and a pair of Zara jeans. The Diesel jeans while they fit great, they are super low rise jeans. Like Britney Spears low rise. While they are sexy, I just don't find them as comfortable as I used to.
The second pair I ended up donating was a pair of Zara jeans that also fit great, but the denim wasn't as soft and actually felt really stiff at the pockets. They were also ripped at the knees and since I'm petite, the ripped areas weren't actually at my knees, they were a bit lower than they should be. 🙅
Sculptek Skinny Jean Azure Wash Size 2P
These are medium rise with the waist sitting just under my belly button, which for me is how I like my jeans to fit. These are soft and stretchy but not so stretchy that I'm hiking them up at the end of the day. They stay put, which is nice.
I think I'm all set with my four pairs of jeans. I have the Skinny Crop Jean in the granite wash, which is great for spring and summer. I actually wore them today in 70 degree weather. If you're looking for the perfect skinny jeans in gray, go with the quartz wash. My very first pair of Athleta Sculptek jeans are retired from the website, but they are still one of my favorites to wear. What is your favorite pair of jeans?
That's it for me! I have a Lululemon fit review coming up this Friday! Here's to a great week!

(Teal looks fantastic but I think the black olive probably more my color.)
(I'm sad this one isn't offered in petite sizes!)
(Apparently you can flip this wrap and wear it upside down for a shorter length, but I don't think it looks good that way. I do want to try this one for a fit review.)
(Does anyone here wear white jeans? I don't think I could do it. I'm too much of a klutz! I dream of one day wearing a pair.)
I have been favoring a pair of high waisted American Eagle jeans that I got on clearance for $15, but my second favorite are my Athleta Scklptek in black. But I really don't love the whiskering on the Athleta jeans, which I think is why I keep wearing the AEO jeans (and also the higher waist on the AEO do a better job of holding in the winter weight that I'm trying to lose). I had to take the legs on the Athleta jeans in to make them a true skinny, because I agree with you they are more like a straight leg, not a skinny, and the fit didn't look cute with most of my shoes.
ReplyDeleteI may have to consider having the legs taken in on this one. I never really thought about doing that! Athleta currently does not have the Sculptek in black, I missed out on that one. I have not tried AE jeans before. Will have to check them out!
DeleteI have many pair of jeans (too many!), mostly bootleg ones with a few flare ones, and 95% of them are from GAP. I love that GAP jeans come in petite sizing which turned out to be perfect length for me. I also love that they offer steep discount from time to time, and most of my jeans are under CAD 50.
ReplyDeleteI have one pair of AE jeans with a nice fit, but I don’t care much about the embroidery on the patch pockets.
I hear bootleg is making a come back! Maybe people are getting tired of the skinny look, but for petites, skinny jeans are the most flattering. I've had a few pairs of GAP jeans back in the day, I used to work there when I was in college and loved getting the employee discounts! I have not tried a pair of GAP jeans in a few years though. Another AE fan! Nice! I really need to check them out now.
DeleteMy favorite brand is Lucky Brand jeans - especially the lolita fit which are so comfortable. Obviously a mid-rise selection as high-rise jeans are up over my ribcage! I've found the cropped jeans to be a perfect fit all the way to ankle. I bought my first pair this fall and ended up getting a couple of velvet pairs for winter and 3 or 4 different washes as well as white. I feel set for jeans for a while. Best yet is I don't think I paid more than $33 for any pair since they have so many sales. Haven't tried the Sculptek yet...
ReplyDeleteWow, I have looked at the store a few times, the window displays always draw me in. I haven't looked at the jeans yet, but next time I'm there I will try the Lolita ones on. Sounds like you made out like a bandit!
DeleteI have a few favorite pairs! My favorite high rise skinny is a Free People high waisted ankle (you gotta try them on because every batch/color/new release) can fit differently. And for a mid rise skinny my face is my old Pilcro from Anthropologie in the petite length. J Brand Twiggy ankle skinny is one of my faves. For ripped mom jeans I like Hollister a lot! They have so many different lengths and styles but they are also all a must try on.
ReplyDeleteMy least favorites: are my Scotch and Sodas cause they run too long/low rise (tried all their styles) and I’m in between sizes. I've tried a lot of Zara jeans and never liked the fit. I've owned some Cotton On jegging jeans but they feel really scratchy and rough and colors fade like crazy after several washes.
I have had a couple of Pilcro ones. Very comfy as well but found they stretched out after a while.I have tried FP before but couldn't find a pair that fit and it sounds like they are tricky to find the right fit. Never tried Hollister or J Brand, but the J Brand ones are really soft if I recall.
DeleteI bought two pairs of 7 for all humanity jeans - and they are amazing. However, because of the insanely high price point I can't justify wearing them to work. As my pants are at risk of bleach, dyes, stains and daily washing I usually wear american eagle or gap. I've slowly been phasing out my low rise AE jeans as, I too, have started to feel not as great in them.
ReplyDeleteI feel so excited you were able to really select your jeans to be "just right". That's a goal of mine.
I was just pondering how I love GAP jeans, but can't stand Old Navy. I'm in Canada and haven't had a chance to try Athleta. It sounds like they are the best of those three.
DeleteFinding a pair of jeans that fits perfectly is pretty amazing. If they're also comfortable that's the jackpot. I try my hardest not to spend too much on jeans only because I don't get to wear them as often as I used to. Mainly get to wear them on weekends. For me having a handful of pairs if more than enough. I would like to add a pair of black ones at some point.
DeleteI have owned Gap and Old Navy jeans in the past. Gap wasn't bad but I think they're not as soft as Athleta. But can't say what they're like now though, it's been years since I've tried on Gap and Old Navy.
I have many, many pairs of jeans (I have a problem), but my favorites are Silver Jeans Aiko fit. I just ordered a pair of Athleta skinny jeans in quartz wash. I usually don't dig jeans with a lot of stretch in them, but they look so nice on you in your reviews I had to try them for myself!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of Silver Jeans before. I took a quick look, seems like they don't offer petite lengths. I am excited that you ordered the Athleta jeans in the quartz! Those have an amazing fit, true skinny leg. Let me know what you think!
DeleteIt's true, Silver doesn't have petite sizing per se....but they do have some skinny crops that come in 27 and 25 inch inseams. The 25's are almost full-length on me, but no hemming required :)
