Welcome Luna Nova!

I have a niece! Luna Nova, born July 23rd. I haven't met her yet, but I'm so grateful for all the photos I receive by text messaging. I wish I could be there in person to take the photos myself!

She has a big brother, Lucien Jake but we call him LJ. This is LJ, my sister Clara and Luna Nova. I hope that they call her Luna Nova instead of just Luna.

Here is my grandma meeting Luna Nova for the first time. That is about the happiest I've ever seen my grandma look in a long time. Just such bliss on her face! I really wish I could have been there to see this unfold in person.

2 week old Luna Nova and 95 year old great grandmother.

I'm not sure when I'll be able to head over to New York. Maybe Thanksgiving or Christmas. We'll see... I suppose I should decide sooner than later! Christmas is a little more fun so I'm leaning towards that. But it's usually pretty dang cold in December so there's also that. I'm getting use to the Hotlanta weather!

Has anyone seen Crazy Rich Asians? I saw it last night and have to say it was better than I expected. I read the books so I knew what to expect. Growing up I was never really fully aware that I was Chinese. It may sound strange but I grew up in a predominantly Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn. I went to school and it was 90 percent Caucasian and the rest was a mix of one Asian- me, a couple of Latino kids and the rest African-American. While I knew I looked different, I didn't feel different. I felt accepted growing up in my elementary school. Of course my first crush was a cute little Latino boy. 😂 It wasn't until I was a bit older that I started to notice some kids who were not so nice. One summer day, all the kids in the neighborhood were playing Man Hunt. It's kind of similar to Hide & Seek except the group is split up into two groups- hiders & seekers.

There was one girl who didn't like my siblings and me. She was running from me and ran back to her house. I remember standing on the sidewalk and she snuck her head out the screen door and yelled out,"Ching chong" and turned her eyes into slits with her fingers. Then I laughed as her mother came out and yelled at her and pulled her back into the house. That is my earliest memory of being fully aware that I looked different.

To see a movie with an all Asian cast on the big screen was pretty amazing. I've seen Joy Luck Club but that was 25 years ago and I didn't see it in the theatre, I saw it on my small TV at home. It didn't have the same impact. To see Crazy Rich Asians with a full audience on a big screen was a little surreal. Surprisingly there were only a few Asians in the crowd. I hope it does well so that we see a sequel! Hopefully we won't have to wait another 25 years. I hope Luna Nova grows up seeing Asians on the big screen. 😄

  1. I saw Crazy Rich Asians and I loved it! I had not read the books so I didn't fully know what to expect. I loved the lavishness but it was also much more substantial than I expected. I liked Rachel being a very accomplished woman and standing up to those who weren't so nice to her.

    1. It's interesting to not be accepted even among Asians because you're an ABC! The books go a lot more into the culture. Highly entertaining read. I'm actually re reading some parts of it that were in the movie.

    2. I have an upcoming trip involving two long flights with layover in between. It's a 30+ hour journey. I will get the first book for my Kindle!

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
