Fit Review! J.Crew Girls Stadium-cloth Chateau Parka in Italian Wool

Another weekend over already. This is a super late post for me so bear with me if it's a short one. I just spent about an hour deciding on which tickets to get for my Christmas trip to Orlando! I'm super excited to be able to spend Christmas day at Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley.  I'll definitely have photos!

I've been drawn to this color called heathered cotton candy. I first saw it in the J.Crew catalog and searched for it on their website. The women's version cost $284.99 (on sale). Plus after reading the reviews, many said it ran very large, which always makes me worried considering how petite I am. Disappointed, I did a search on the website for "heathered cotton candy" because I loved the color so much and what do you know, it came in girl sizes.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 and typically wear a size 4 in Lululemon, Size XXS or PXS in Athleta, size large in Athleta girls, and size 12 in J.Crew girls.

The main difference between the women's and girls version is the color of the faux fur hood. The women's is more of a rusty brown color. I actually prefer the girls version. The inside of the girls hood is also lined with soft fleece for extra warmth. Oh and the price difference? The girls version cost $228 and right now there's a 40% off code - TIME2GIVE which brings the price down to $136.80. That's such a better price!

I'm wearing the size 12 after reading some of the reviews online. One petite lady purchased a size 10 and said it fit but would have to add some length to the sleeves. The sleeves are the perfect length for me in a size 12. The shoulders fit really well. The body of the coat tight anywhere and there is room to layer.

I think this coat would look really cute with some boots!

One of my favorite details of this coat is the lining of the pocket. It's a soft silky feel and I love putting my hands in the pocket because of the lining. It just makes me happy. So what do you guys think of this coat? Yay or nay? Does this make me look too kid-ish? I'm leaning towards keeping it. Leave me a ccomment below!

  1. It's really cute, if you like it, for that price I say keeper! The only thing I am not so sure about it that it lacks the 'fitted' look I prefer, but that is a personal choice. On another note, we have snow here in Switzerland (I live near Basel). So pretty!

  3. I think it’s a keeper! It looks just like the adult version to me. I have a different JCrew coat from a few years ago in a similar color, and I love it. It’s a toggle coat, and I get compliments all the time. I tried the Andover pea coat this year, and even in petites, the shoulders were too big.

    1. I only have one other J.Crew coat, it's a peacoat from a few years ago. It is definitely hard to find a good fit. I think I have it in a size 0 petite.

  4. It's a pretty color. Doesn't give you any shape, though! Maybe bc girls clothes don't usually give the hourglass look. It doesn't make you look childish, though.

    1. The color is super pretty, and yes this is a shapeless coat, but I think it's the style of it. The adult version is similar. It has the trapeze shape. Thanks for the feedback Amy!

  5. $136 for a jacket that cute?! Keep it out of principle lol!! Again, one of my favorite colors. I outgrew my bark berry scuba so I’m looking for a version of it maybe thinner.

    1. You guys have convinced me to keep the J.Crew coat. =)

You should try the Athleta girls version! It's more comfortable and I would say thinner as well...

    2. I think I’ll order it. Boy that took a lot to twist my arm ;)

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
