Fit Review Friday! Essential Tank, Train Times Crop, Anew Singlet, Hotty Hot Shorts II

Happy Friday everyone! This week flew by since it was a short week to begin with. I have some news to share with you all. We are having out kitchen renovated next week. It's the first time we're having anything done to our condo since and I'm excited, but my husband is nervous. Do you have any tips, advice for us if you have gone through something similar? The whole renovation will take about a month is what I'm hearing. I don't know how we're going to last that long without a kitchen!

Onto the fit reviews. For reference I'm 4 feet 11 and typically wear a size 4 in tops and bottoms with some exceptions like the Essential Tank. For this top I sized down.

Essential Tank Viridian Green Size 2

I don't usually choose green for myself, but this shade of green is so pretty, it reminds me of summer. I'm wearing it with my new Train Times Crop in wee are from space. I love them! More on these later. The Essential Tank fits the same as it did last year. It's loose fitting and long enough to cover my bum. I love that the neckline isn't too low. It's super comfortable to wear. Viridian green is currently sold out, but I might order the heathered black as well.

I loved my magnum Anew Singlet so much, I also ordered it in black currant, but I decided it's not as pretty as magnum, so I'm sending this one back.

Anew Singlet Black Currant Size 2

This is another tank that I prefer to size down in. The straps are fairly long and sizing down helps. I love how the back of this tank looks. It is so pretty and feminine! I've already sent it back, and looking at these pictures are kind of making me regret that now!

This is a good photo to show how high the slit is on the tank.

Next we have the new and improved Hotty Hot Short. I decided to go with dark carbon. You really can't go wrong with gray. This particular shade of gray has purple undertones to it. This is another item that I decided sizing down is better. I just can't believe this is the third item in this review that I'm sizing down to a 2. I'm usually a size 4 all the time and I swear I'm not losing any weight.

Wearing my usual size 4 in Hotty Hots give me diaper butt. The waist is elastic and super stretchy which is why I can get away with sizing down. The leg opening is flattering on me. The circumference around my thigh is about 19-20 inches. I have average sized thighs for my height and my calves are on the smaller side.  The fabric does wrinkle easily, it's my one and only gripe.

These are low waisted and comfortable. I already worked out in these once and would definitely recommend these. Looking forward to adding more Hotty Hot Shorts to my closet!

I've saved the best for last! These are hands down my favorite crops right now. Train Times Crop in wee are from space are absolute perfection for petite ladies like myself!

Train Times Crop Wee Are From Space Size 4

The fabric is really smooth and cool to the touch.

They are high waisted but not too high. These sit very comfortable right underneath the belly button. The waist is snug, but doesn't pinch or give me a muffin top. These are not 100% opaque, but I love them so much I'm okay with wearing nude underwear for these. I purchased my usual size 4 and they are true to size.

Notice how they fit my small calves perfectly!

I've already worn these for a BBG workout and ran for 30 minutes on the treadmill and not once did I have to pull them up or adjust them in any way. If these come out in another print or color that I love, I wouldn't think twice about ordering another pair.

I think the side mesh detail is nicely done.

That's all for today! Hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. We're twinning; I got the same crops & shorts as you in the same colour! =D

I was kicking myself last spring when I didn't get the PR crop in "wee are from space nimbus battleship" (LOL @ the colour name): http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/m1gBtgoEDLl6cC6XsK4BNqQ.jpg. So I snagged up the TT crop as soon as they were uploaded!

Viridian green looks fabulous on you. I don't usually gravitate twds green either. I think my only green Lulu item is this WU crop: http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/wIsAAOSwi0RXzuGQ/s-l300.jpg. They slide down while I'm working out (I mostly kickbox), but I can't give bring myself to sell them 'cuz I love camo.

I actually returned BOTH pairs of my old HH shorts 'cuz the front of the waistband rolled inward after regular wear last summer. 1 was classic boring black which I love (N/A in the new version) & the other was a light grey/white combo (https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Nxxp3W1Cbyc/Vz6poyofudI/AAAAAAACp8o/vqkAMtxoKS07IkxNUG5RDNVBuH9F3mzcwCKgB/s1600/lululemon%2Bfreckly%2Bflower%2Bhotty%2Bhot%2Bshort.jpg). I even tried ironing the part that rolled inward, but no luck; they just kept rolling inward. Hope this doesn't happen w/ the new version!

    1. Oh wow, I didn't know the waist band rolled down on the old Hotty Hot shorts. I'll have to keep an eye on that and will report back if I find the new version does too.

I did remember feeling bummed out I didn't get the Pace Rivals in the same print but these fit me much better than Pace Rivals which make me happy I held out. =D

    2. Re. HHS II: Yes, let me know if your waistband begin to roll. So far so good w/ this new version...which I've only worn 2-3x so far.

Re. PRC: I'm glad I held out too! I recently sold my black ones' (for $80 CAD; woot!) 'cuz they weren't getting enough love. I didn't like how the knees always bag out while exercising. Any crops w/ an inseam of ≥ 22", I always hemmed ≥ 2" off. For us shorties < 5'2", crops w/ a 17-19" inseam are perfect!

    3. Same here, I've worn the Hotty Hot Shorts twice so far, and no rolling of the waistband.

Awesome on the sale. For me 17 inches is perfect. The shorter the better! haha.

  2. You look great in those hotty hot shorts! The size 2 is perfect on you so yes, can imagine how the size 4 would look diaper-ish. As usual, you are an enabler and I'm going to get those wee space crops even though I have the exact ones in pace rival.

    1. Nice! I find the Train Times Crop fit me much better than the Pace Rivals, mainly because the PR are still too long on me and the baggy ankle issue is a pretty big no no for me. These are shorter than PR crops by 5 inches.

  3. Ohhh how exciting - have fun!! Sounds really difficult not being able to use a kitchen for 1 whole month. The essential tank looks so cute on you! I hope it comes out in some more pretty colors. You're totally rocking the Hotty Hot Shorts! The crops are really nice, but I want my exercise crops to have thigh pockets for my phone, etc.

    1. Oh! Next time you're at a store, can you please do a color comparison between the Midnight Navy Swiftly Tank and Boysenberry one? I love the picture of the Boysenberry tank + purple-ish speed shorts, but it looks so similar. Thanks!!

    2. Definitely will if the store has both colors for yah. How's the new house?! Settling in? Did you guys buy all new furniture?

    3. Thanks again for the color comparison! Definitely settling in...moving really makes you realize how much crap you have. We still have a fort of boxes to unpack. Yup - all new living room from Crate&Barrel and West Elm, new 65" OLED tv, new fridge, new bed, kept our old washer/dryer, lots of new storage containers... still need to buy new dining room set and kitchen table set...accent chairs... T_T It's like a never-ending list of stuff to do. Eventually we'll get there... hehe. Unfortunately this means my athletic clothes budget is nonexistant. :(

    4. WOW! I wish we could have gotten Crate & Barrel furniture! Our entire apartment is pretty much IKEA. Even our new kitchen is going to be IKEA, but I'm actually pretty excited about that, I can't wait to see when it's done. I def want to see some pics after your place is furnished! It's way better to be spending money on furniture than athletic clothes!

  4. I've heard so many good things about the essential tank, but unfortunately it didn't look that flattering on my 5'2" frame. Not that it was terrible... but kinda made me feel like I was wearing a potato sack! haha. The color looks great on you!

    1. Hi! Did you also try sizing down in the Essential Tank? My regular size definitely made me look like a sack, but sizing down helped solve that problem.

    2. You know, I did try sizing down, but still didn't do much for my figure. Off topic, but have you ever tried Koral? They have really cute sports bras-- can be pricy, but I've found them on the nordstrom rack website for 1/2 off. I think the Koral element sports bra in particular would look cute with your Anew singlet :)

    3. I haven't tried Koral, but I just googled the Element bra and it reminds me of Lulu's Free to Be Zen bra with all the back straps. How do they run in size?

    4. Size xs = size 4 in lulu. I think it would fit you well! I also love their mystic capris (reviewed by AA), web tank and lustrous leggings :)

    5. Thanks! I'll definitely give one a try and see how I like it. =)

  5. That training crop is really pretty!! Im super tempted to get one. I ended up getting size 4 on hotty hot dark carbon. I found out i gained 6 lbs and 1" larger on my butt after all these weight lifting and not eating clean.
Is there any other way to loose weight except cutting on eatting?????

    1. Not really. I've found you have to eat clean and workout about 6 days a week hard to lose weight. Working out is the easier bit. Eating clean is really hard for me. I find if I cut carbs and sugar, I get lean, but man is it tough to do.

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed

Happy May! Can't believe summer is right around the corner. I'm looking forward to visiting my family later this month. It's been nearly a year since I've been back to NYC. I'm already thinking about all the dim sum I'm going to cram in the 10 days I'm there! 😆  Today I have a review of the new  Everywhere Belt Bag Extended Strap  compared to the original  Everywhere Belt Bag  that is slowly being phased out. 😢  **** Update - The original Everywhere Belt Bag has been phased out completely.
