Fit Review Friday! Banana Republic Mid Rise Barrel Ankle Jean and Lightweight Cashmere Short Sleeve Sweater Polo

Happy Friday! It's also the 25th anniversary of 9/11, which I can't believe it's been 25 years. It just doesn't seem possible so much time has passed. I was in college at Fordham University about to leave for my first class of the day when my grandma told me to turn on the tv. She was either on the phone with someone who told her or she was listening to the Chinese radio. I remember feeling a bit annoyed because I was trying to rush out the door to get to class. But the second I turned the tv on, I knew everything was about to be cancelled. I also remember how blue and sunny and how there was not a single cloud in the sky. It was supposed to be a perfect day. It doesn't feel like it was 25 years ago. It's so surreal. I just wanted to acknowledge the anniversary on my blog. I'm not sure if I ever have before in the past. When I look at all the 9/11 videos that come across my Instagram feed or an article in the NYTimes catches my eye, I feel compelled to watch, to read, and it feels like it happened yesterday. 😢

To transition from that to my fit review feels weird, but here we go. For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size PXS or XS in Banana Republic.

One of my best friends suggested I should get a pair of barrel jeans. She seemed to think I would be able to pull it off. I laughed and told her that I've tried barrel jeans and pants quite a few times over the last couple of years and none of it worked for me. I had pretty much written them off. She said I just needed to find one with the right proportions. Easier said than done!

That weekend I went into Banana Republic and spotted a pair of barrel jeans that were cropped or rather ankle length. With my friend's insistence in mind, I thought, sure let's give these another try, why not? I'm wearing size 26 and they were a bit too big in the waist, but I did like the overall look and feel. The store didn't have size 25 and I was planning on ordering them online. I was out and about with Jared and we drove around and ended up finding another Banana Republic and I walked in to see if they had size 25 in the barrel jeans, and sure enough they did.

Size 25 is a much better fit for me in the waist and while these are the regular size 25 and not petite sizing, they are full length on me. Inseam measures 24 inches. I'm actually pretty happy with the way these barrel jeans fit! It's a Christmas miracle. The leg is not too wide and not as exaggerated as I've seen in the past. The denim is mid-weight, and average softness. It's slightly stretchy. I also love the light wash, it's super casual and I decided to try on a cashmere polo in gray and the pairing looks so good together. I couldn't say no. The cashmere is very lightweight and super soft against my skin. I'm wearing size XS and find it to be true to size. I'm actually excited to wear this outfit once the weather cools down a bit. My guess is maybe October! It's still in the 90s right now.

Do you have a pair of barrel jeans? Let me know in the comments if you love the style. It took me so long to find a pair that works for me but I have a feeling that this is one and done. That's it for me, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. 😊

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...
