Happy June! The year is flying, summer will be here before you know it. I'm trying to enjoy the weather before it gets unbearably hot. For today's review, if you have ever watched Tanner Leatherstein cut up luxury designer purses on YouTube, you might be interested in this review. The Pegai Poset Leather Grocery bag is his design to replace the one-time use of plastic grocery/shopping bags. I bought two to see if this is something Jared would use, he's the one that does all the grocery shopping (reminder - he is the cook in this household). 😆
For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall.
(In this video, I follow Jared around a grocery store. 😂)
First thing, this bag is huge. It's not meant to be a purse. It's more for grocery shopping, running errands, that sort of thing. I'm not leaving the house with this as my purse. It's something that gets thrown in the trunk of your car and use as needed.
There's really only two ways to carry this bag. By the crook of the arm and by the handles. That is it. It's not something you can sling over your arm because of how thick the handles are and the placement on the side of the bag. I did fill the bag up with some stuffed animals to make it look like I am carrying things in it. 😅
Let's take a look at the details
There are no logos on this bag. Only branding is on the top of the leather handle. The handles are very wide and thick. They are honestly a bit too wide to be hand held. It works best on the crook of the arm.
Between the two colors, I prefer Tobacco. The Gray looks a little flat. I should note that these two colors are made out of top-grain buffalo leather. Only the Black is offered in full-grain buffalo leather. I missed this in the description. If I had known, I would have ordered Black and Tobacco instead of Gray. The leather feels a little too plasticky, it's very smooth and I am not impressed. He does state in the description that this is not about luxury. It's about replacing plastic bags that are used once and thrown away. So I get it, he's trying to do something good for the planet. That said, the design could have been more thought out.
For one, the handles are way too thick and wide. Thinner handles would be better. Another thing I would change is having a flat bottom, instead of a tapered bottom. Placing a carton of eggs in this grocery securely is challenging. I would also move the handles to the front and back of the bag instead of placing them at the sides. Overall this was a good concept, but executed poorly.
The inside is unlined, raw suede and it feels soft, but not super soft. The price is $35 each. If you buy more than one you get a small discount. If you would like to see Jared on camera while shopping for groceries, check out my video. 😂 I will not be keeping these and they will be up for sale. That's it for me today, I hope you enjoyed this review. Have a wonderful start to a brand new month!
