Happy Friday! Remember last week's Fit Review Friday? Almost every comment I received mentioned the whole outfit looked horrible on me. 😆 I'm sure you'll all be relieved to know I am returning both items.
Moving on to today's fit review, which is also from Banana Republic. I decided to try a couple of pieces from their Archive collection. I used to love their t-shirts from the 90s. Crisp, white, super soft tees with a map or some kind of safari motif comes to mind. My brother had a bunch of them back in the day and it just brings back fond memories for me. The button up shirt in cotton hemp also piqued my curiosity. I've never had a piece of clothing made with hemp. Let's find out if these two items are keepers.
For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size PXS in Banana Republic. Sometimes I can get away with size XS. I also wear size PXS in Athleta and size 4/6 or XS/S in Lululemon.
The moment I took this shirt out of the plastic packaging I was pleasantly surprised at how soft the fabric felt. I went "Oooh, feel this!" to Jared's best friend who was visiting from NYC. 😂 He definitely wasn't as enthusiastic about it as I was, but I chalk it up to him being a guy.
Size XXS was already sold out, so I am wearing size XS. I think this shirt is unisex, the cut is relaxed with dropped shoulders. The sleeves are also very voluminous and they taper at the cuff. I'm of course wearing it with the sleeves rolled up. I'm definitely leaning towards keeping this, I know I'll throw it over my summer outfits as a layering piece.
For fun, the bag I'm wearing is actually a really old Banana Republic bag that I bought from my friend. She said she bought it about 20 years ago and barely used it. The leather on this bag is incredible. Super soft and smooshy. I figured I should pair it with this archive outfit.
Here is the t-shirt, and it's just as soft as I remember them to be. I'm wearing size XS and it's a casual soft tee that can be worn all year round. I rolled up the short sleeves since they are longer than usual.
Apologies for posting about Banana Republic so much lately. I will have some more reviews coming in from Lululemon, Athleta, and possibly Vuori and Alo. Avalon is opening up a Vuori and Alo store very soon. I think the Vuori store may already be open and I'm planning on swinging by this weekend to check!
That's it for me! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

This is a much cuter outfit than last week’s! Go ahead and keep posting about Banana Republic. I’m finding their clothes much more interesting than the athletic brands currently.
ReplyDeleteI have a pair of pants in a hemp blend from Royal Robbins and I love them.
Thanks so much! I'm with you, haven't found much inspiration from my regular go-to brands. I just looked up Royal Robbins and very interested in their hemp blend jacket. I'm considering giving them a try!
DeleteFor sure this shirt is drapey but doesn’t swallow you whole! It will be interesting to see your thoughts on Alo, I never really understood them 🤷♀️
ReplyDeleteI haven't ordered anything from Alo in so many years. It might not even be my style anymore, I think it's geared towards Gen Z. I'm old!
DeleteEvery time that I walk by Alo lately, it's all monochromatic. Like, just too much, it doesn't make me want to go in the store. On Friday, it looked like it was all white and blue clothes. A few shades of blue, but just uninspired, like 🤨🤷♀️ Maybe it's just the racks hanging in the front of the store?
DeleteNow I'm even more curious about Alo. I went to Avalon and they still aren't open yet. 😑
