Update on my Polène Numéro Dix - Why I won't be buying another Polène Bag

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I wanted to give an update on my Polène Numéro Dix bag in smooth Cognac. My husband bought me this bag for Christmas of 2023, so I've had this bag for a little over a year and a half now. According to my WearTracker app, I've worn this bag 14 times total. This is not my daily driver and I mainly use it for date nights. I started noticing wear on this bag probably after 10 uses. It started with just a little bit of peeling along the edge coat and then it started getting worse and worse after each wear. 😞

Here are some close ups of the peeling. This is a high stress point area where the strap rubs against the loop when I'm carrying the bag. I understand that this would eventually happen, I just don't think it should have happened after 14 carries.

There's also some color wearing off as well.

A close up of the edge coat starting to peel on the strap.

It's basically starting to happening all over the bag. Even on areas that I wouldn't expect.

Why would the edges peel this way?

For a while, I wanted to get another Numéro Dix in Crocodile Nubuck but after seeing how quickly the bag is starting to show wear, I decided not to. Especially since the price keeps going up. My husband bought this bag for $500, now the same bag costs $660. The prices keep going up while the quality is going down. Don't get me wrong I still love the bag. The leather itself is holding up well for the most part.  I did find the start of a loose thread on the bag on one of the loops, but it's not terrible, yet. I treat my bags with care and to see the peeling, really drove me crazy so I took a scissor to clean up some of the peeling and it helped a lot. I am expecting I will have to trim the bag every 14 wears. 😞

In conclusion, no more Polène bags for me. For the price point, I would rather spend my money on Coach. If you have 4 minutes to spare, take a look at my video for extra details. Do you have a Polène bag? Have you experienced this as well? Let me know in the comments below. That's it for me, hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

  1. Wow, that's disappointing how the bag is wearing after only 14 uses! It's basically two weeks of use. I love Polene's designs though! I hope in the future, they make some changes to address the peeling problem.

    1. Hi Lola, When you put it that way, this amount of wear after two weeks sounds pretty bad. I agree, I hope they make some changes but until then, I will be spending elsewhere.

  2. I would not expect such wear so quickly on a leather bag at that price point. Thank you for this updated review.

    1. Right?! This should not be happening to any bag after 14 wears. 😓

  3. Thank you for the review, Leslie! This level of wear and tear is completely unacceptable. The quality of Polene has really gone downhill.

    1. Hi Karen! Very sad, especially for the price they're charging. 😢

  4. Nooo I liked the structure and style of their bags, how disappointing. I have been hearing the same about recent coach purchases as well, they fall apart way quicker than the ones from 10 years ago

    1. Hi AC! That's awful, I haven't had that happen with my Coach bags so far, knock on wood.

  5. Wow I have heard about this brand before and the styles look so cute. At that price it should definitely not ever happen!!

    1. Hi Janessa! A little bit of wear would have been acceptable, but the peeling is just so awful. So disappointed!

  6. Shocked at the quality of Polene, guess I missed the boat of the good ole days of Polene when they were reasonably priced with better quality. Thanks for your honest opinion and saving me from curiousity.

    1. Hi Jean L! Yep, Polene was probably at its peak over 3 years ago. Then they just started to raise their prices and everything started going downhill.

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...
