Fit Review Friday! Store Try Ons Lululemon Cropped Utility Windbreaker and Softstreme High Rise Wide Leg Pique Pant

Happy Friday! Checking in to see how the No Buy Challenge is going as we're just about at the mid way point in March. Let me know how you're doing with the challenge.

For today's fit review we have a couple of items from two different days. You can tell because I'm wearing glasses for the windbreaker and contacts when I tried on the Softstreme pants.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4/6 or XS/S.

This windbreaker feels really soft and silky. I was surprised at how much I liked the feel of Glyde fabric. I'm wearing size small (they didn't have XS at the store) and while it's slightly too big, it was very comfortable. I think size XS would have been a better fit for me, but the length of the small was great, it hits about lower hip.

The sleeves are long and I think sizing down would help with the length. This jacket has a zipper and snaps to keep out the wind. This windbreaker also has a hood. Goodnight Plum is a beautiful burgundy. The perfect mix of a dark red with purple undertones.

The one thing I was not a fan of are the pockets. I really dislike pockets that open from the top. The flap also adds to the distaste. I always use my pockets to keep my hands warm and it's awkward to use when the opening is from the top versus the side. Anyone else feel this way? Or is it just me.

If it weren't for the pockets, I would have seriously considered getting this jacket if it went on markdown. It's priced at $168 which I think is a little steep. $148 would have been a better retail price and then if it was marked down maybe it would have been $119.

Next up, we have the Softstreme High Rise Wide Leg Pique Pant. Apologies for the not so great photos, I really had to brighten them up to show detail.

Length of these are super long. The inseam measures 31 inches. I normally wear size 6 in my Softstreme Straight Leg Crop Pant and here I'm wearing size small and I like the casual fit. Size XS is too tight for me in the waist.

Hard to see in the photos but there is a small vent at the hem.

Here's a close up of the texture which makes these pants a little more dressy than the regular Softstreme Wide Leg Crop Pant that I wear all the time to the office. They still feel soft and slightly thinner fabric and has a weighty drape. The black is more like a dusty black. I really like it. I hope these are released in a crop length.

I think these actually look really nice for the office. Just wish they had a much shorter inseam! That's it for me! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. 😎

  1. I absolutely love your store try-on fit reviews, Leslie! The pictures might not be perfect, but at least we got to see what's new in the store and can get them before they are sold out!

I was debating whether or not to get the Cropped Utility Windbreaker in Goodnight Plum and thanks to your pictures, I know it's too red for my liking. Just wish it was more purple than red. I also dislike pockets that open from the top and much prefer side pockets which make more sense.

The Softstreme High Rise Wide Leg Pique Pant looks interesting! I love the texture and the silhouette. It drapes nicely and doesn't look bulky with too much fabric. I'll give it a try if the pant is released in short length.

    1. Hi Andrea! Good point. Thanks for giving me a silver lining. Goodnight Plum is gorgeous but yes, likely too red if you're hoping for more purple.

Yes!! Please give me cropped lengths in those pants Lulu!

  2. Thanks for sharing about the new jacket and pants. Agree with you that maybe XS might be a better fit on you compared to S, still slightly loose. I like my height (5"7"), but so many styles are "cropped" and makes me look frumpy so I usually stay away from anything "cropped".

    1. Hi Jean L! Didn't realize you were so tall! I can see why you want to stay away from cropped styles.

  3. I've been staring at the Goodnight Plum items for a while, and now that I've seen your photos, I can cross it off my list. I too would like it better if it leaned more purple. I do like the windbreaker though; the pocket style isn't good for hands, but great for carrying stuff without the fear of it falling out.

I'm intrigued by the new Softstreme pants. Give us some short/cropped lengths, already!

    1. Hi Lola! That's a good point about stuff not falling out from vertical pockets. I guess I always carry a bag, so most of the time I'll just put it in my bag and leave pockets for my hands.

Would really love those pants in a crop length. I have to try on the Softstreme Wide Leg Cropped pant. Might be too similar to the ones I already have, but the waistband is more professional than the drawcord.

  4. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the Wideleg Cropped Pant vs the Straight Leg ones you already have, if you try them. I have a pair of the straight leg, and I've been eyeing the wide leg ones as well... I'm waiting for a must-have color though.

    1. I wouldn't mind having it in Sheer Oak. I don't think I have a color like that.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...

Review! Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Size Small Plus Video

You all know I love my bags, and as a Balenciaga collector, I don't often stray from the City and First style. The Rodeo (pronounced like Rodeo Drive) really caught my eye. It gives off a slouchy Hermes Kelly vibe, but way more practical to use.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall. Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Small The Rodeo can be carried a few ways. It comes with a crossbody strap that is not adjustable but it is removable. Not sure why anyone wouldn't add a few extra holes to make a strap adjustable these days. Come on Balenciaga! Do better! The top handle is a bit too long for this to work anyhow, I feel like the top handle gets in the way. It sticks out and doesn't sit well in my opinion. I wouldn't carry this bag crossbody unless it was an unforeseen emergency and I really needed my hands free. This bag looks more chic carried by the handle or crook of the arm. It also looks nice left open with the help of the flap tucked in. The Rodeo resembles the Kelly bag ...

Review! Lululemon's Large Everywhere Belt Bag Size Comparison Plus Video!

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's almost Halloween! I actually have a dentist appointment on Halloween. One of my molars chipped and needs to be filled in. It's a tiny chip that I didn't even notice until my dentist pointed it out to me during my last visit. I'm not looking forward to it at all since I will need local anesthesia. Anyway, today I have a belt bag size comparison review for you all! For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.
