How are we all feeling? We're in the final stretch of January, and it is flying by. 11 days to go for No Buy January challenge. I'm feeling good about not buying anything this month. I realize that I have to slow down my purchases in order to be more intentional about what I spend my money on and what I decide to bring into my home. I think this year, I really will focus on curating my wardrobe and trimming the excess. I've already listed and sold a handful of pieces on my Poshmark account. So I'm feeling pretty good! I almost wonder if I will repeat this challenge a few times a year. I usually do it twice a year, but maybe I need to reset more often. What do you guys think?
Today's review is Lululemon's Slouchy Sling Bag 6L in Warp Teal. I love teal in general so I wanted to see this bag in person for myself.
First, I love the color Warp Teal. It's the perfect blue/green. It's one of those shades that shifts between blue and green and depending on the lighting, it can go either way. The strap is adjustable and you can wear this bag as a shoulder style hobo or crossbody for hands free.
I adjusted the strap to how I prefer the bag to hit at my hip and I did notice that the plastic buckle would sit right on top of my shoulder bone and it wasn't the most comfortable. If I walked all day with it, it would end up being painful. Just my luck that the buckle would hit exactly on my bone. 😕
My preference will always be crossbody since my shoulders slope down and I have a hard time keeping straps from sliding off. In these photos, I do have my things in the bag to give it some weight and to show how it looks as accurately as possible in real life.
The Slouchy Sling Bag has two small side pockets with rope zipper pulls. I love the zipper pulls but noticed that the zippers itself are difficult to open and close, because of the extreme rounded pocket. It's a little bit awkward to use. You can see this in action on my video. There's a chance that the zippers would be easier to use when the bag has things in it and not as flat.
The zipper goes all the way around to the back of the bag.
This is the plastic buckle that would sit right on my shoulder bone. 😕 The strap itself is very similar to the strap on the Everywhere Belt Bag.
The back pocket is quite large and it would fit an iPhone Pro easily. I'm not entirely sure I would keep my phone in there because there is no zipper to keep it closed. I would have rather put a zipper on the back pocket, versus having those two pockets on the sides. That's just my opinion. There's also a Lululemon tag on the bottom right seam, and it's half hidden and hard to make out, but it's there.
The fabric is made of 100% polyester and nylon and it's also water repellent. It does have that slight crinkly like texture to it.
I really like that there are double zippers to open and close the bag. I love the zipper pulls. The opening is very wide and when worn crossbody, it is a little awkward to open and close the zipper because of the way it drapes and curves. It does open to a very spacious compartment.
On the back of the bag is a large zippered pocket and the other side has two medium sized mesh pockets. If you like a bag with a lot of pockets, this may be for you. If you want to see what fits, please check out my video.
Overall, the bag has potential. For $68, plus tax I think they could have added another zipper to the back pocket. The bag does hug your body and that makes it a little challenging opening and closing the bag especially when worn crossbody. In the end, I decided to return it and will wait for something else. That's all for today! Hope you have a wonderful Monday. 😊
I have this bag too! I got it in black at the beginning of December. I love bags with lots of pockets, so this one is pretty good. I agree with you - the "phone pocket" absolutely needs a zipper on it. Pockets without fasteners on a bag are pretty much useless to me. I will only put maybe a bottle of hand sanitizer in there, or a package of Kleanex. I'm in agreement about the side pockets too. They're a little annoying to open and close all the way, but I generally just open it halfway to get at things, and so far it has been working. I love the shape of it, and the size is pretty much perfect for me. I wish it had come out in Nightfall!
Hi Lola! Ohhh, Nightfall would have been amazing. Maybe there's still a possibility for that. I'm probably more picky about bags than most people, and the fact that I have 50 bags in my collection, I have to really choose what gets added because I'll likely have to sell something to make the room! I am glad you're enjoying it, I agree it's a great size.
I got the sling bag as a Christmas gift for a friend and she’s loves it! While I love the size and shape of this bag, I find the outside pockets not too functional. The side pockets are fairly difficult to unzip/zip up and like you said, the back pocket should come with a zipper. My friend love it though and that’s the most important thing. :D
Hi Andrea! As long as your friend loves her gift, that's all that matters! A functional bag is pretty important to me and I'm probably more picky about bags than most people. =)
So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos. The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...
Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off - $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe. This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...
I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself. For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...
