Fit Review! Store Try Ons Scuba Oversized Varsity Jacket Plush and Water Resistant Insulated Hooded Jacket

Happy Friday! I have another Lululemon fit review today. This time it's a store try-on since I'm on a No Buy January. How is everyone doing? We're more than halfway into the month, stay strong! For those not on a shopping break, there was a pretty good WMTM Update, I added my picks at the end of the post. Lots of Soft Sueded items went on markdown.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4/6 in Lululemon.

(on sale $129)

I'm wearing size XS/S and this fits oversized on my frame as expected. I didn't find it flattering, but I'm sure if you're taller than I am, it would look fine. I think this jacket may look better in Heathered Medium Gray. The length offers full coverage in the back.

The inside is lined with plush velour and it is very cozy. I was not a fan of the snaps, I felt they could possibly pop off. I will always prefer a zipper for jackets and coats. If you're you're into the oversized look, the jacket is on sale for $129.

Next, we have the Water Resistant Insulated Hooded Jacket in black. I'm wearing size XS and honestly, this ran so big I might actually need this in size XXXS. 😳

Why is everything so oversized lately? This jacket runs extremely large and very boxy and did not do me any favors at all. Even in black! The lighting made it very difficult to capture the details, apologies on that.

This jacket is lightweight, wind, and water resistant. It would make a nice winter coat for milder climates.

The sleeves aren't overly long, and I think they would have been a perfect length in size XXS. If you're interested in this jacket, I recommend sizing down at least one size, if not two.

(Twilight Rose, Nightfall, and Garnet are $69)

So, I don't have any try-on photos for these tights because they are a size 6, way too big on me and looked awful. If you're in-between sizes, I would recommend sizing down. That said, the Soft Sueded fabric feels amazing. I'm very interested in this fabric and it's hard to describe. It feels super soft, but about medium weight and just very cozy and warm. Would love to see this in a pair of pants since I no longer wear tights. I know they have these in a mini-flare, but still not a fan, since the top part still resembles a pair of tights.

That's it for me! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Thank you so much for the fit review, Leslie! I was interested in the Water Resistant Insulated Hooded Jacket Black but looks like it is too boxy and cropped for my liking. :( I'm looking for a light weight insulated jacket and hope the Always Effortless Jacket (insulated) will come out in more colors.

    1. Hi Andrea! It is very cropped, I am kind of surprised. If I see it in a smaller size I'll do another try on just to see if it'll be more flattering. I haven't seen the Insulated AEJ yet. Will have to keep an eye on it if I'm at the store.

  2. I like the idea of the Scuba Varsity Jacket, but it's too bad it's so oversized. The Water Resistant Jacket is kind of cute - in the proper size it would be a good pick!

I'm not liking the move away from numerical sizing at Lulu. I find it way trickier to nail down what size to get in things now. I'm kind of falling in between xs and small now, depending on the item, whereas with numerical, I could confidently order size 4.

If you find yourself in a Lulu store again, could I request a try-on of the Stretch Spacer High-Rise Pant? I'm eyeballing them as a potential purchase in February when my shopping ban is over :) Thanks in advance!

    1. Hi Lola! Agreed, oversized look can be very hit or miss. Yah I am with you, I don't really understand the alpha sizing. I would have assumed I'm an XS but now I guess if it's oversized I need XXS? It's way trickier ordering online. I will def keep an eye out for the Stretch Spacer HR Pant. I may be heading to the store again this weekend. =)

  3. So far I've resisted buying the varsity jacket a couple of times, but I might pick it up tonight. It's just so cozy, and I've had it on my wish list for a long time. I agree about the buttons. They are kind of hard to snap and feel cheap for the price.

    1. Hi LZ! They were hard to snap too! I would probably just wear it open and not bother with the snaps. I do love the plushy lining. Wish it wasn't so oversized. Which color are you eyeing?

    2. I don't know - such a hard choice! I find it weird they released 2 shades of grey. Why not something a little different?

    3. That's so true. I would probably go with the darker gray. A burgundy would have been nice though.

    4. I ended up with the lighter one and love it so much! I've worn it all weekend. :D

  4. Halfway through the month and I am still holding strong! I did almost break and get a lightweight Under Armour jacket because I liked the color but resisted 😇 I like varsity jackets and can never find one that doesn’t look so football player on me. The over sized of the one you tried on might have the same effect so that’s a good thing, I am not tempted.

    1. Hi AC! Nice job!! Keep it up! Just two weeks to go. Yeah, the first week was definitely the hardest. Now it really isn't so bad at all. At least my wish list has stagnated at the moment. LOL.

    2. I actually think that black jacket looks good on you. Thanks for still doing the try ons even though you’re not buying this month. Only less than 2 weeks to go. I was wondering if you are a watch fan. I love watches and have a small collection. I’ve been thinking of getting an entry level Rolex. Any thoughts on that? Cindy

    3. Hi CIndy! Thanks! I still have to keep you guys entertained lol.

Yep 13 days to go! I am rocking it this time. I like looking at watches, but I wear an Apple watch everyday to track my steps so I don't own any other watch. I have had the same Apple watch since 2020. If I upgrade when this watch finally dies, I might consider buying the Hermes version lol. But if you love the Rolex, go for it.

  5. Thank you so much for trying on the varsity jacket! I like it but not for that price still… maybe like $70 like lol. I’ve been trying to do no buy but I got some gift cards for my birthday and spent those plus a little more. Now I am going to not buy for the next half of the month xD

I like the soft sueded pants but not in the sale colors and I’ve learned that i should only get a color I love
I would also like that in a true flare style not mini

    1. Hi Janessa! At least you had a gift card. That's not terrible. Stay on track until February and it's still a win.

I hope they will release more items in Soft Sueded fabric. It's feels really nice.

Did You Know There Are Two Different Ugg Companies? Review - UGG Lowmel

So I was shocked when I learned a couple of months ago that there are actually two UGG brands. The original UGG since 1974 is the original Australian brand that are made from sheepskin. The other is an American company with the big G uses synthetic fabric and are made in China/Vietnam. Here are the two different logos.  The one the left with the big G in the middle is the company that's made in China/Vietnam. The one on the right is the original UGG since 1974. Each pair is made in Australia! I had no idea and feel so duped. I didn't learn this until after I bought the Lowmel's which are very popular at the moment. But I will order a pair from UGG since 1974 so I can support the original brand. Plus I really want to experience the real thing and I will report back my findings. 😅 That said, I still actually really like the Lowmels. UGG Lowmel Sand   Size Kids 4 I typically wear size 5.5 and I decided to try the kids size 4 which actually fit well, if just a smidge large...

First Impressions! On Cloudmonster Void

Happy Friday! I've been branching out into other brands for footwear. I mentioned in a previous post I just don't think my Allbirds are cutting it anymore. Allbirds are more of a casual walking shoe. Anything over 10K, my feet start to hurt. I have tried Hokas, and they seem to be decent so far, I can walk 12K steps a day and haven't had issues. However, I am loving the On Cloudmoster Void even more! For reference I typically wear size 5.5 in Allbirds which is my normal street size for sneakers and I am also wearing size 5.5 in On Cloudmonster Void. On CloudMonster Void Ivory | Wolf Size 5.5 (Currently on sale for 20% off -  $135) I'm not a huge fan of logos on my shoes. I decided on this colorway because I love the light gray and lilac combo and it does have a big On logo, but it blends in nicely with the colors. It still has a minimalistic vibe.  This shoe has a 6mm heel to toe shoe drop. This is a good height if you're a heel to toe striker which I am. This is...

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Coach Empire 40 Merlot This bag is huge, it's definitely the biggest bag in my collection. ...
