Review! The Row Large Slouchy Banana Bag - The Secret to Effortless Chic

How is everyone holding up so far? The holiday season is always a little crazy and hectic. It's really starting to speed up now and it'll be January before you know it. I'm super excited to share this bag review with you all! This is my second Row bag, and I'm fairly certain I'll be adding more in the future. Their bags are super high quality and I've been really impressed with my two Row bags so far. I've had this Slouchy Banana bag for three months and I've used it 15 times so far according to my WearTracker app.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall.

Here are a bunch of mod shots. This bag comes in two sizes, a small and a large. I debated for a long time between which size to get, because I'm fairly petite and whenever I hear the word large, I get a little nervous. Here's the size small from The Row's website. It just doesn't have the same slouch effect that I'm looking for.

I went with the large size and I am super happy with my choice. It's not too big at all. I think it's the perfect size and slouch that I love. It's a very casual chic vibe. I tend to dress very casual, and it works with my joggers and hoodies.

The strap is fully adjustable; this bag can be worn as a shoulder bag, if you wanted to. I prefer crossbody over anything else. Hands free all the way, baby!

also wearing:

I love how it curves around and hugs the body. It does stick out just a little bit, but it's more pronounced in the photos because of the camera angle here.

Let's take a look at the details of this bag.

The leather is grained calfskin. If you're the type of person that dislikes scratches, this type of leather is for you. It's super scratch resistant. The opening has a strip of rectangular leather with a super wide opening. The zipper is buttery smooth. It's a zero effort zipper and honestly the best zipper I have ever come across on a bag. I kinda wish all my bags had zippers like this one. Just so easy to use.

The strap is made of cotton-canvas, very soft and wide enough that it's been a pleasure to wear even on a 5 mile walk. Zero complaints. I said it earlier, but I'll say it again, it's fully adjustable.

Here's a close up of the grained leather. It's very soft and will slouch even more with wear. The bottom of the bag is wider than the top, it's about 6.5 inches at the widest point.

The inside is suede and I love the softness of it. However, suede is hard to keep clean, so I make sure not to carry pens or liquids unless they're all inside a pouch. Personally, this bag isn't that big for a pouch. Definitely check my video out to see what fits. There are no inside pockets, just one big compartment.

The official color is burgundy, but in real life it just looks like dark chocolate. It's a very rich deep brown with some red undertones, but I really would not call it burgundy. I purchased mine from a friend who needed funds for another bag, but these are easily bought second-hand through Fashionphile or TheRealReal for less than retail price.

That's it for me! Let me know what you think of this slouchy bag!

  1. I love, love, love that bag! I'm a sucker for slouchy bags too, and that one hangs so nicely, and the leather looks so soft! The only complaint I have with it is that I wish there was a zippered pocket on the inside. I really like the charm you put on it too - it matches so well, it looks like it came with the bag!

    1. Hi Lola! Yes, there's nothing on the inside but I can't really complain. It's pretty easy finding things in the bag. That Coach charm really does match it well!

  3. Just curious, what’s your arrangement with bag charms? Do you affix them to a bag and it is its home forever or do you have a whole collection you swap in and out when the mood strikes?

    1. Hi AC! ahahahha, this is a great question. I actually just find one charm, the perfect one for the bag and leave it. It's its home forever. Sometimes I'll buy a charm if I like it and wait until the perfect bag comes around if I don't already have a bag in mind for it lol!

    2. 👍 I haven’t got into bag charms yet, but I like how it helps with the zipper pull idea.

Review! Coach Soft Empire Carryall 40 Merlot

I am super excited about this review! This has been the most anticipated Coach bag since The Rogue came out. At least for me. When I first saw this bag on the purseblog , my eyes widened and I was immediately obsessed. The Soft Empire Carryall comes in four sizes. Size 48 is ridiculously big, I cannot pull it off, but the 40? Perfect. Size 35 and 26 just doesn't give off the same wow factor. This bag is meant to be a statement piece and head turner. Kudos to Stewart Vevers for creating another hit that everyone will be obsessing over for a long time. I hear that more colors will be released soon, and I am hoping the distressed lived-in version will not be exclusive to size 48. In case it doesn't happen, I'll be using my Empire 40 as much as I can to give it a distressed look myself.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and please check out my video to see what fits! Review! Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Size Small Plus Video

You all know I love my bags, and as a Balenciaga collector, I don't often stray from the City and First style. The Rodeo (pronounced like Rodeo Drive) really caught my eye. It gives off a slouchy Hermes Kelly vibe, but way more practical to use.  For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall. Balenciaga Rodeo Bag Small The Rodeo can be carried a few ways. It comes with a crossbody strap that is not adjustable but it is removable. Not sure why anyone wouldn't add a few extra holes to make a strap adjustable these days. Come on Balenciaga! Do better! The top handle is a bit too long for this to work anyhow, I feel like the top handle gets in the way. It sticks out and doesn't sit well in my opinion. I wouldn't carry this bag crossbody unless it was an unforeseen emergency and I really needed my hands free. This bag looks more chic carried by the handle or crook of the arm. It also looks nice left open with the help of the flap tucked in. The Rodeo resembles the Kelly bag ...

Review! Lululemon's Large Everywhere Belt Bag Size Comparison Plus Video!

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's almost Halloween! I actually have a dentist appointment on Halloween. One of my molars chipped and needs to be filled in. It's a tiny chip that I didn't even notice until my dentist pointed it out to me during my last visit. I'm not looking forward to it at all since I will need local anesthesia. Anyway, today I have a belt bag size comparison review for you all! For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.
