Fit Review Friday! Store Try Ons Lululemon Softstreme Voluminous Sleeve Pullover, Softstreme Pintuck Mid Rise Pant, Half Zip Fleece Pullover
Happy Friday! It's been a while since I did a store try-on post. I was really curious about the new Softstreme items and stopped by for a fit review.
For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4/6 in Lululemon.
This pullover is heavy! There's a lot of fabric and I found myself getting a little lost navigating all the puffiness of this pullover. This is the one time I wish there was size XXS offered. While Rose Blush would not be my first choice in this pullover, it was all the store had in size XS. I guess this top is popular enough that it is selling out in the smaller sizes.
Definitely too much fabric around the hip area with the bubble hem effect that's on trend at the moment. Also probably not the most flattering pink either. Rose Blush reminds me of Pepto Bismol. 😝
The sleeves are quite fun. I do like the pleated barrel sleeves (not sure exactly what the correct name is but they do remind me of the barrel pants that's popular right now. Bell sleeves? Tulip sleeves?) I can see them being a pain after awhile. I don't think I could wear this to the office. However, I will say it's very cozy. Overall, this is very oversized and not petite friendly. Price is also steep at $148. I think this will hit WMTM.
Next up, we have the Softstreme Pintuck Mid Rise Pant. I'm wearing size XS. I would say this is a true size 4. If you're in between sizes, I would consider sizing up because there is very little stretch in the waistband. I had to tug a little to get them over my hips. I did fold the pants underneath for these photos so they wouldn't drag on the floor. The inseam is long at 31 inches.
I love the pintuck look though! I think it really elevates these pants that feel like loungewear but can be dressed up for the office. Definitely on my list to buy in Oil Gray! I'll have to get them hemmed which I will dread. I have not had the best experience with hemming.
Waistband hits right at my belly button. These are wide leg, but not super wide where they're unflattering for petite folks.
I threw my clothes on to see how they would look with the pants, and I think this outfit looks really put together. It's too bad I'm too much of a klutz to wear Bone. Oil Gray it is.
Last but not least we have a guest review from Andrea! She purchased the Half Zip Fleece Pullover to try and here's her quick review. For reference she's 5 feet 3 inches tall and wears size 2 in Lululemon tops. Andrea also sent me a photo of Black Swan compared to Black Night.
"My Lululemon order arrived and I’m on the fence about the Half-Zip Fleece Pullover. To be honest there’s nothing special about the design and while I’m happy with the overall fit, I don’t love it."
If memory serves me right, Black Night was originally Black Swan and I was expecting the color to be more purple. It’s more on the navy side in person.
Black Swan on the left and Black Night on the right.
Thank you Andrea! I'm sure your photos will help many of us who are debating about the Half Zip Fleece Pullover. I totally agree with your assessment. It's a basic fleece pullover and unless you're completely in love with one of the colors offered and it's calling your name, I would say pass or at least wait until WMTM. That's it for me! Hope you all have an awesome weekend!

Softstreme Voluminous Sleeve Pullover
(I love these, so very tempting!)
You are such a pretty girl! These crappy clothes do not flatter you in any way!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Are you trying to save me money? I agree the pullover isn't flattering, but I do love the pintuck pants.
DeleteHi Leslie,
ReplyDeleteI love your store reviews! <3
The Softstreme Voluminous Sleeve Pullover looks cute but I wouldn't want to wear it! Too much fabric and the sleeves do live up to the product name - they are voluminous! :D
The Softstreme Pintuck Mid Rise Pant s really pretty in Oil Grey. I am not sure if I like the pintuck running along the front of the legs though.
Andrea
Thanks Andrea! I think the lines on the front do elongate my legs. I don't know if it's completely successful, but at least it's trying. =D I can def use all the help I can get!
DeleteThe Pullover is too enormous. Too bad the sizing on that one isn't very inclusive. I am happy !tried something new and interesting, however.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Pintuck Pants! I wish/hope they'll do a short version. I really like the seam in the front; I think it's elongating. And the Bone color looks so crisp, but I'm with you, I'd have them trashed in one wear, lol!
And Andrea, thanks for the mini-review! Is the Half-Zip fuzzy on the inside as well?
Hi Lola! Same, I do wish they will release a cropped version. Maybe? I'm hopeful! But in case they don't, I'm willing to get them hemmed.
DeleteHi Lola,
DeleteI didn’t pay much attention but I believe the material feels the same inside and out.
Andrea
Oh, I'm happy you were able to try on the pants! They are much more elevated than the regular version. I think they would look cute as shorts, too. Actually, I might super hem a pair if/when they go on sale.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Black Night is definitely more navy than purple in person - but has more purple tones than True Navy. I feel like it's Midnight Navy, renamed.
Happy weekend!!
Hi LZ! Ah yes, maybe they will release a short version for summer! I would get a pair.
DeleteThank you Andrea for doing the fit review of the fleece pull over. You have save me money and a trip to the store! I hope Canada gets that grey oil print! CalgaryMom
ReplyDeleteThe Pintuck pants are gorgeous and the pullover sleeves are way too overwhelming!I think washing hands or reaching over the dinner table will result in stained sleeves since Softstreme stains from water... at least til it dries its super obvious...
ReplyDeleteThank you Andrea! The review is super helpful! The half zip is super nice and solid but not something I'd pay full price for! Not living in SoCal.
-Janessa
Hi Janessa! Agree, the sleeve would be annoying after 10 minutes! I actually got caught in the rain yesterday with my Softstreme Hoodie. It really was super obvious but it dried pretty quickly and after I didn't see any stains, so I was happy about that. Looked like new again.
