Fit Review Friday! Bubble Knit Zip Up, Hotty Hot HR Short & Front Zip Mid Rise Ruched Crop

Happy Friday! Warning! This fit review is a hot mess. I'm telling you now that the sizing in this haul is all over the place! This is especially frustrating when ordering online. I may have to do more shopping in person if this level of inconsistent sizing continues.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size 4 in Lululemon tops and bottoms.

also wearing Mother Denim. I'm wearing size 27P for comfort.

This jacket is true to size and is the perfect casual jacket to wear on a spring day. The jacket is made of soft textured fabric. The inside is lined, which was a nice surprise. I would not size down because the waistband is actually very tight when zipped up. It looks great unzipped, but I ended up returning this piece as I felt it was still too cropped on my frame. The proportions looked slightly off on me. I guess I'm at the point where I am tired of everything being cropped?!

Sleeves weren't overly long but they are loose fitting. Cuffs are also wide.

Inside is lined.

(I think I need a size 6??)

This is my first pair of Hotty Hot Shorts in quite a while. I love the Grape Thistle color, it's the perfect plum purple. I ordered my usual size 4, but when I took it out of the bag, I knew it was going to be too small. I could just tell. I tried it on and the built in liner was pinching my inner thigh. When I saw how the back looked, I was shocked. I tried smoothng it out and pulling the fabric down to get rid of the crease but nothing worked, it would just ride back up. I was pretty disappointed, I am not sure if they are just getting smaller in size and I need to size up, or if the one I received was a one-off.

I know I am not as lean as I used to be, but I never had one fit like this before! 😩 Has anyone else run into this issue with HH's lately? Should I be sizing up in the new colors? Haaaalp.

Next up, we have the Front Zip MR Ruched Crop. This is a fit request and I have mixed feelings! I am wearing my usual size 4 but they are HUGE! The waistband is very loose on me, I am debating about ordering this in a size 2.

(Runs large, size down!)

These are very stylish joggers. They are supposed to be cropped but are full length on me. The inseam measures 25.5" long. Super baggy in through out the leg and thigh. They do taper at the ankle.

They're so baggy even my butt looks flat here. Definitely need a size 2. I love the ruching which surprised me. Made of water resistant Glyde fabric, they are very lightweight, but also make the swishing sound with every step you take. That might be a little annoying.

I do like the zipper detail on the ankles. I think that's pretty cool, but the seams going down the front of the pants are quite thick, and you can feel them on your leg. If you're someone that doesn't like the feel of seams on your skin, stay away from these.

My husband thought these were very cool pants on me, so I am going to re-order in a size 2 and hope they fit better. They are very comfy to wear!

That's it for me! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

  1. I swear Lulu's sizing is whack. Sizes that used to fit me perfectly are now either too big or too small. I dont really want to go to a store to try things on so it's become an endless cycle of ordering & returning. It is so frustrating! I got a pair of Speed Ups in my TTS, and it was strangle my waist tight, so I returned, and sized up. The size up was falling on me. I do not get it!!!

    1. Hi Nina! It really is! I am never a size 2. I'm usually a size 4 and sometimes size 6 if I want a more relaxed fit. Sigh. But I am the same, I don't really like to shop at the store but sounds like I might have to.

  2. Scuba OS FZ in bone is so tempting but I already have it in natural ivory. I love the funnel neck zip in espresso too but I am happy with my small ish scuba collection so I’ll just admire. -Janessa

    1. Also the bubble knit zip up is so pretty on you! HH HR ran small on me last year and I haven’t tried again this year cause I feel like I’d have to order multiples… depending on color? So I’ve just stuck to my Softstreme for now. I agree the ruched pants are too baggy!

    2. Hi Janessa! Gah, I really hope it's not dependent on the color, because that would be soooo annoying to have to buy both 4 and 6 to see. Sigh.
I did like the Bubble Knit Zip but didn't like the tight waistband and it felt a little too cropped even on my short torso!

  3. Hi Leslie, Maybe the Hotty Hot Shorts have quality control issue. Sometimes clothes are manufactured smaller then in past to save fabric costs. If customers notice they can size up. Grape Thistle reminds of my speed shorts darkest magenta.

Not fan of Hotty Hot shorts with loose flap hanging in the back appears odd to me. Under the reasoning of such styles. Leslie don't fret about your curvaceous attractive physique. Don't be shy covering up your perfect candidate to wear align 4" in grape thistle wonderfully.

From experience if the lining pinching the skin, you can always cut it out. Lot cooler this way.

    1. Hi Mack! Oh yeah Darkest Magenta is close to Grape Thistle. Grape Thistle has maybe more brown to it. I have Align shorts in the 6". I do wear them but still prefer my Hotty Hots. I guess I won't be buying Hotty Hots online anymore, will have to hope to catch them at the store.

I haven't tried cutting the liner. I'd be too scared to mess it up!

    2. Thanks for the tutorial! I will keep it in mind for future too tight HH shorts!

  4. Everything now is cropped tops and super baggy pants, I can’t deal! The cropped jacket looked nice but the sleeves were just too long.

    1. Hi AC! It's 90s fashion all over again. I can't do cropped tops, but I can do baggy pants. I used to love them as a teen haha.

  5. What the heck is up with Lulu's sizing? It used to be so much more consistent even just a couple of years ago. Lately I've been returning more items than I'm keeping. I haven't tried any Hotty Hots lately, and I think I'm unlikely to if the sizing is so wonky. I agree, the pants are pretty huge, but I think they'd be cool in a smaller size. The jacket is kind of cute, but for the price, I think it should be a little more special than it is.

    1. Hi Lola! I was shocked at the sizing with the bottoms. Makes ordering things online less fun! I've been returning way more items of late as well. The pants are now on sale!!

  6. Thanks for the fit reviews! I saw the jacket in store last week and really liked it.

I agree with everyone about sizing being all over the place. I wear a size 0-8 depending on the item. Sometimes even the color determines the size I get, as they vary. I'm super lazy and don't like trying things on, but it's to the point where I need to even if I already have the item in a different color.

    1. Hi LZ! Yeah it's really unfortunate their sizing is so inconsistent. Some items I think I need to try in a size 0 and a 2 but hate having to order more than one size to try on. But I guess I may have to start.

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
