FIt Review! Athleta Rainout Sutro Trench & Rainout Sutro Long Trench

Hello from New York (again!). I am back for my grandmother's 101st birthday celebration. We're having a dinner at home with extended family. Expect some photos in a future post! Today's review is a fit request from one of you. 😊 I hope you enjoy this post, I took a ton of photos and hopefully this will help make your decision between the long or regular Sutro Trench.

For reference I'm 4 feet 11 inches tall and typically wear size PXS in Athleta and size 4/6 in Lululemon tops.

This trench coat is very long on me and it was actually a little bit difficult to zip it up with the double zipper feature.  The zipper itself is very smooth and easy to zip once you have it lined up correctly. It's just tricky getting them lined up. I'm wearing Petite XS and the length of this jacket measures 33 inches long. This jacket is true to size, it is semi-fitted with room to layer. It's very comfortable and easy to just throw on and go.

I wish the zipper would extend down a litte further. It would have been easier to zip.

Snowfall blue is a very pretty pale eggshell blue. The back of the jacket has an elastic waist and gives the jacket some shape which I found to be very flattering. I'm on the shorter side and the length of the jacket hit right at my knees.

I love the clean lines of this trench coat. It looks very flattering worn open in an effortlessly chic way. This jacket is light to medium weight and great for spring/fall transitional weather. There's enough room to layer a sweater as well.

Zippered pocket on the inside to store important items.

I love the detail on the wrist cuff. There's an extra snap to cinch the cuff even further. There are pretty ruffles on the back of the cuff. The price of this trench coat is $199 but with all the extra little details I think it's worth it.

I was surprised and very pleased that the length of the sleeves are not too long.

Next up, we have the shorter version of this trench coat in in Oxidized Green. I'm wearing my usual size Petite XS.

This is such a cute rain jacket! It does flare out in an A line. It's semi-fitted with room to layer. The fit is very similar to the long version. It's also light to medium weight jacket.

Length measures 27.5 inches and covers most of my bum. The sleeve length isn't too long. I really like the fit of this jacket. I also think it's a cuter and more playful than the longer version.

Oxidized Green is a gorgeous color. I think it's the perfect teal with a pinch of cream added. It would be lovely for spring. The back is cinched to add flare and shape.

There are side snaps which are great to have if you want to add ease of movement. I prefer wearing this jacket unsnapped for sure.

I found the regular length of the Rainout Sutro Trench to be more flattering than the long version. Plus the color is so pretty. This version does not have an inside pocket but it does have an adjustable cinch cord on the inside to customize the fit. The price is also a little less at $169. If I were in the market for a trench coat, I would keep this one. Which do you prefer?

That's it for me! The end of February is near, let's make this the best week yet!

  1. Hi Leslie,
Thanks for the fit review. I did try on the Rainout Sutro Trench in Magnolia White last year and found the material a tad stiff for my liking. Oxidized Green is such a pretty color though!

    1. Hi Andrea! I didn't find it stiff, but I can see why you would say that. I guess I just expected rain coats to feel this way in general.

  2. The lines of the white jacket look perfect on you. Too bad you're not keeping it! lol

    1. Thanks! Yeah it looked great on me, but I don't really wear rain coats in Atlanta, there's not much walking to do here!

We tried HelloFresh for the past two months - Here's our review

Hi everyone! This post is written by my husband. Some of you may know he does all the cooking around here. 😅 We noticed we were spending a lot of money on food and eating out every month and wanted to see if a meal kit service would save us money and time. After looking at a few meal kit services we settled on HelloFresh. Without further ado, here's Jared's review. (Original post date Aug 2022). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As you may have seen from Leslie's Instagram stories for the past 2 months, we've been using HelloFresh for most of our meals. The main drivers for this were to better track what we eat and because on the advice of my doctor, I should be eating more home cooked meals. Before I go any further, it should be noted that my original career path was in culinary arts, but twists and turns in life changed that. So I do have formal cooking experience. A little background story. Over the years, I've developed
